Rebirth of the CEO's Secret Pregnant Wife

Chapter 4: Voices of Justice

"I didn't say you couldn't report it! Why else would I send Chai Hua and Ma Chao with you? Gather material, ask questions, and wait. I'll come over with Ever Group's representatives!"

The young woman's face lit up with a grin.

She quickly agreed, ended the call, and turned around to Rong Xuelan. "We're ready to start."

Rong Xuelan had noticed some pushback on the call but hadn't expected it to be resolved so swiftly.

She gestured for Jiang Nan to bring others over and began explaining the situation herself.

"Our construction site employs 134 workers. Since April, none of us have received our wages. I've calculated the total: 3.1 million yuan, all withheld by the foreman."

"3.1 million?!"

The three reporters were visibly shocked.

"That's right," Rong Xuelan continued. "On top of that, we've noticed issues with the construction materials being delivered recently." She signaled, and two workers brought over steel bars.

Rong Xuelan then motioned for the cameraman to zoom in. "These are steel reinforcements. From the cross-sections, you can see there's a significant difference in quality."

The high-definition camera captured two steel bars, each as thick as a finger.

The difference was very contrast: one gleamed with newness in iron-gray, while the other was dull and marred with rust.

"This one's rusted, isn't it? If buildings are constructed with this, wouldn't that lead to accidents?" The young woman's expression grew more serious.

Accidents have already happened, Rong Xuelan thought grimly.

In her previous life, a section of this very building collapsed due to faulty steel reinforcement, injuring three workers.

That was when the foreman disappeared.

Rong Xuelan then led the reporters to interview the workers.

Many of them spoke tearfully about the unreasonable work arrangements and the dire financial situations their families were facing.

In the midst of the interviews, Rong Xuelanfaintly heard the sound of a car pulling up at the gate.

...

Secretary Tang clicked her high heels as she walked into the unfinished building.

A moments later, she emerged with a large group of people trailing behind her.

Qi Yu's face darkened as his eyes swept across the weathered and sunburned faces in the crowd.

"Who's the leader here?" he asked.

The group stood silently; no one stepped forward.

After a pause, a man suddenly raised his right arm and shouted, "Give me my hard-earned money!"

"Give us our hard-earned money! Give us our hard-earned money!"

The chant was taken up by over a hundred voices, echoing across the construction site.

Several people near Qi Yu flinched and instinctively stepped back, but he remained firmly in place, completely unmoved.

Rather than appearing angry, Qi Yu's lips curved into a faint smile.

He waited until the chanting died down and then spoke slowly, "I see you're all very united. But there must be someone who knows the full story and can tell me what's going on, right?"

"Or should I just stand here and listen to a few more rounds of your slogans?" he added and raising an eyebrow.
