Chapter 204: Acquaintance
“How did you know?!”
Could it be that Lu Hao’s green leaf tattoo was heating up too?
“There are many more Spirit Fields and open spaces,” Lu Hao stated.
He initially wanted to say if the Space had upgraded, but found himself unable to utter the word “Space.”
“Yes, the Space has really upgraded,” Su Jin said excitedly.
Updated by ℕovG○.coAlthough she had felt the day was very tough, now she felt an overwhelming sense of achievement. At the creek, the gray fog was no longer visible, seeming to have receded over a hundred meters away. It seemed that the most direct indicator of the Spatial Spirit Force was observing the position of this gray fog.
Regarding the upgrade of the Space, the family only found out after waking up from sleep. However, none of them felt the burning sensation as Su Jin did; it seemed that only the Space’s owner, Su Jin, could feel the changes in the Space, while Nie Qing could sense the changes within the Space through fluctuations of Spiritual Power…
Outside, one night passed, but inside the Space, about four days passed. During these four days, the family not only rested but also harvested the ripe wheat in the Space and then planted wheat in the harvested Spirit Fields and those that appeared after the upgrade.
The flour bags used before in the Space were all saved by Li Xiuying, perfectly fitting for containing the newly milled flour. The yield of wheat was good, resulting in a lot more flour than expected.
There weren’t many flour bags, and just when they were about to run out of space, Su Jin fetched many extra-large storage boxes from the supermarket area at the back of the Space, planning to store the flour in them.It must be said that in the Apocalypse, flour-based food met people’s needs the most. Although most people preferred rice, in terms of portability and preservation, flour-based food was not only more convenient to carry but also kept for a longer duration. Therefore, Su Jin decided to plant wheat in all the remaining Spirit Fields.
“Su Jin, we have so much grain here, until when are we going to eat all this?” Lin Xiuyuan couldn’t help but comment as he looked at the mountainous piles in the warehouse.
“If we can’t finish it, we’ll think of ways to exchange it for Crystal Cores. We desperately need Crystal Cores,” Su Jin replied while moving the packed wheat flour into the warehouse, which seemed almost full.
Lin Xiuyuan felt like he was back in the days before the Apocalypse when people stockpiled goods; only now it was the opposite. Back then, the family was desperately spending money to convert it into assets, whereas now, they had to work hard to sell assets for Crystal Cores…
Updated by NovG○.coThat familiar feeling of having a lot of money but nowhere to spend it returned…
Why did their family have so many goods?
So be it, because for the sake of the Space’s safety, they couldn’t just sell them off freely. It was quite troubling.
Su Jin didn’t understand why Lin Xiuyuan sighed and walked away; she guessed it was probably because the Crystal Cores were far from enough, as she continued moving the remaining flour.
…
After one night, as day broke, the family appeared in the shrubbery at the foot of the mountain and then Su Jin took out the armored vehicle from the Space, preparing to return to the base.
Along the way, everyone in the vehicle noticed that the number of zombies on the roads seemed to be increasing. Some of the barricades meant to block the zombies at certain intersections were torn apart. Su Xiangzhe, with sweat on his brow, rammed through the incoming zombies, not daring to let up on the accelerator. He feared that stopping would result in being surrounded by the hordes of zombies. With more and more zombies rushing towards them, to prevent overturning, Su Xiangzhe had to stop temporarily. This stop was crucial as zombies even began climbing onto the roof of the vehicle. The zombies around the road surged like a flood, trying to engulf them.
“It’s over, everyone in that vehicle is likely doomed,”
murmured some people in a building on the side of the street as they watched the terrifying scene below.
“How could it be? Isn’t that vehicle…”
Ban Xiaobo watched the armored vehicle below in disbelief. It was the vehicle he had personally modified; he couldn’t possibly mistake it!
Could Lu Hao also be here?
No matter whether the person inside is Lu Hao or not, he had to go down and try to rescue him!
“Ban? Where are you going?”
The other few people in the house looked at Ban Xiaobo, who was about to leave.
“There might be my brother in the car downstairs,” Ban Xiaobo answered.
“Can’t you see that the person in that car is beyond saving? Aren’t you just going to your death if you go?”
A middle-aged man with a stubbled face said. He wasn’t unwilling to save people, but with the situation below and just the five of them, there was no way they could save them.
“I have to try, even if there’s no hope. Don’t worry, I know my limits,”
After saying this, Ban Xiaobo left without looking back. The man with the stubbled face cursed in his local dialect and then followed him down, while the remaining three exchanged helpless glances and also went down.
Ban Xiaobo didn’t actually leave the building. After the apocalypse had awakened his Wind Element Ability, he never intended to just rush in blindly, as that would undoubtedly be a suicide mission.
He stood next to a shattered window on the second floor and, using all his strength, he launched a huge Wind Ball at the roof of the car!
The people inside the car, warned by Mao Qiqi, already knew there were people in the building, but they never expected that someone would actually lend a hand.
Seeing the Wind Ball from the person inside knock down the zombies on the car roof, Su Jin and Lu Hao seized the opportunity to jump onto the roof of the car together!
It was them!
It really was Captain Lu, and the pretty little lady next to him was the one who had come with him to buy cars that day!
Ban Xiaobo was extremely surprised; he didn’t expect to meet old friends here. He was glad he had come down, but he wasn’t sure if the two of them could handle so many zombies. Just as he was looking for an exit to go out and support them, Lu Hao suddenly drew a knife from his back. Flames burst out from the blade instantly, and he swung it at the zombies trying to climb up the side of the car!
Boom!
He decapitated dozens of zombies in one swing!
“Oh my God!” Ban Xiaobo stood at the second-floor window, mouth agape as he looked outside.
He knew Captain Lu was skilled, but he had never met someone who could fend off enemies with a single move.
Following that, Su Jin by Lu Hao’s side was not to be outdone. She controlled four thick vines, pushing all the zombies around the car several meters away; then, effortlessly, she cleared an area around the car in coordination with Lu Hao.
Seeing this, the people inside the car also opened the doors and came out. They formed a circle back to back and used their Special Abilities to fight the zombies from all directions, with Su Jin and Lu Hao on the roof—one dealing widespread area damage, the other piercing the surrounding zombies one by one with vines.
“Ban, is your brother really in there?” the stubbled man behind Ban Xiaobo asked in a daze.
“Hehe”
Ban Xiaobo touched his nose with his hand, smiling exceptionally happily.
He leaped out of the window and shouted to the two people on the roof, “Captain Lu, here I come~~~”
