Rebirth Counterattack: I Heard That the Imperial Marshal Has a Crush on Me

Chapter 1

Chu Muxi was reborn. At the moment when his life ended, he thought it was all over.

He wasn’t a good person, and even his death was his own fault.

.

“Chu Muxi, you’re a scumbag!”

“No one will ever love you! Everyone will despise you!”

“Get out of the Chu family! Get out of the empire, you traitor!”

Chu Muxi covered his face with both hands. When he woke up, there were still tears on his cheeks. He curled up into a ball, and uncontrollable panic and uneasiness swirled in his heart.

Had he truly come back to life?

The calendar showed that it was the beginning of March in the Spring Calendar of the New Interstellar Era. By the end of March, the system would match him with the First Marshal, ten years his senior, known as the youngest First Marshal with the highest military force in the empire in a century – the next generation of the Lu family, the head of the family, Lu Junzhi.

The empire’s marriage matching system never made mistakes. Even though he was the most disliked playboy in the Chu family, looked down by his father, flattered by his stepmother, and framed by his illegitimate half-brother and sister.

On the day the matching results were announced, he was nearly torn apart by the reporters, admirers, and fans of the marshal who swarmed him.

“Who is Chu Muxi? He’s not worthy of Marshal Lu at all! I refuse to accept it!”

“We strongly demand a rematch! We firmly disagree with this result!”

Then, on the night the matching results were revealed, the media disclosed that he had been involved in fights and even sold and smuggled Faim, a long-prohibited drug listed among the top ten banned drugs by the empire. This drug had been implicated in a highly influential and vicious interstellar smuggling case.

Yet, nothing happened. It was said that the people behind the scenes were rich and noble, even pulling out a bunch of second-generation children from the upper class. Among them was Chu Muxi, photographed drugging his half-brother in a bar.

“He is my brother. I believe he must have been deceived. If he’s prosecuted, I’ll help him find a good lawyer. I hope he can be reformed in prison.” Chu Mubei had red eyes in front of the camera, saying this while holding back his grief.

“Does a person like Chu Muxi deserve to be someone like you as younger brother?! How disgusting!”

“That’s right, drugging his own brother! He’s obviously an illegitimate child, so shameless!”

There were too many comments like these, and everyone seemed to wish he would just die.

.

His father had clearly married his mother for profit. After it was discovered that he had been maintaining a mistress and a pair of illegitimate children, he forced his mother to her death, killed his grandfather, and claimed the inheritance from his grandfather that should have rightfully gone to him. His father welcomed the mistress’s family into the house but claimed him as an illegitimate child.

“Oh, your mother and your grandfather both looked down on me. If it weren’t for me, your grandfather’s family’s wealth wouldn’t be as substantial as it is now. You’re no good either. You’re a naive wolf! Remember, your mother committed suicide. Yes, she chose to jump off on her own, and it’s none of my business. I said I could take care of her as long as you didn’t interfere.”

This ferocious-looking man was supposedly his father.

“Your mother occupied the position that was rightfully mine just because she was a so-called famous lady. So, what if she was a famous lady? Hahaha, in the end, she didn’t make it. She had no future and couldn’t tolerate men, so don’t blame others.” The woman who stole his mother’s position and stayed in his grandfather’s villa showed a vicious face.

“You’re just a little bastard! You’re the illegitimate child! Do you understand that you’re a piece of garbage, a waste!” His half-brother, who was five years older than him, trampled him in the detention center and viciously cursed him.

“You wretch! You think you’re worthy of being Lu Junzhi’s wife? Lu Junzhi’s wife can only be me! Go to hell!” The half-sister sat nearby, watching as he was savagely beaten and forcibly administered medicine.

Before he died, he vaguely remembered many things.

As a child, his mother held him on the swing in the yard and gently told him stories.

Although his grandfather was serious, he would wear a loving smile when facing him and say, “My Xiao Xi is so cute. He’ll surely grow up to be a handsome young man.”

It’s a shame that all of this was destroyed.

His mother leaped from a tall building after learning about his father’s multiple mistresses and illegitimate children. She was a lady with a fragile personality, and she couldn’t bear the shock, especially when He Hui returned. He showed her the private photos with Chu Tianhao, which severely affected his mother’s delicate nerves.

And just half a month after her death, his father welcomed his mistress and a pair of illegitimate children into the house.

By the time his grandfather returned, everything had become inevitable. However, Chu Muxi was deceived by his father’s lies, believing that it was his grandfather’s strong tactics that had separated him from He Hui and forced him to marry Shen Lan.

Chu Muxi, who had been flattered and deliberately raised by Chu Tianhao since childhood, never questioned his father’s deceit. Additionally, his grandfather’s consistently cold and serious demeanor made him resent his grandfather.

In the following years, Chu Tianhao used Chu Muxi as a pawn to seize his grandfather’s property while continuing to support him.

When Chu Muxi turned eighteen, the system’s matching results were revealed, and he turned out to be the most suitable marriage match for Lu Junzhi.

Chu Tianhao panicked suddenly. Furthermore, his grandfather had already seen through Chu Tianhao’s ruthlessness and was preparing to take Chu Muxi away. Chu Tianhao was concerned that if the Lu family and his grandfather joined forces, his doom would be sealed.

As a result, the starship that my grandfather was traveling on was immediately hijacked by a group of space pirates who suddenly appeared. Although he had agreed to use the money for ransom, and even though his family had the funds, his father cried in front of the media, claiming that the funds were not readily available, and he couldn’t raise that much money. However, just a few days ago, he had purchased an energy stone for his son, which cost half of the ransom demanded by the pirate group!

The space pirates, impatient for the ransom, decided to blow up the starship, and my grandfather perished in the vastness of space.

Then, he witnessed Lu Junzhi and Chu Lulu appearing in the same restaurant. He was almost overwhelmed by Lu Junzhi’s admirers and fans but managed to escape.

“Chu Muxi, I have the evidence you need. Come meet me at the bar,” a message from his most trusted friend called him to the bar.

Upon opening the door, the lively laughter inside suddenly came to a halt.

“Hey, who’s this? Isn’t this the young master of the Chu family? Why is he in such a sorry state?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, the young master of the Chu family is clearly sitting right here. Look at him; he looks like a beggar. Manager! Manager! Why are they letting beggars in now?”

The sarcasm and insults reached his ears one by one. His best friend, who he had lent money when they were short on cash and stood up for them in fights, was now squatting in front of Chu Mubei and licking his legs like a dog.

My subsequent memories were a blur. It was those individuals who had beaten him up, but when the reporters finally rushed in, the scene transformed into finding medicine in his clothing, and Chu Mubei laid weakly on the ground.

When the camera switched, and he regained consciousness, Chu Lulu was force-feeding him drugs in the detention center. In the end, he succumbed on the cold detention center floor due to an allergy to the drugs.
