Chapter 67: Chapter Sixty-Seven - It's Either Us or Them
"Speak of the devil, they're here."
Amy painfully held her forehead, but then from afar, she spotted the silhouette of Michael and Rosita emerging from the woods coming from the direction that the main prison gate is facing.
Hearing her sister's words, Andrea turned around and looked towards the direction she was looking. There, she saw Michael walking alongside a woman and heading over.
"Is that her?" with Amy in tow, the two sisters walked past the prison gate and started making their way towards the two.
Andrea was a little excited but also feeling apprehensive that Michael went away with the opposite sex.
"Yeah, I don't like her at all." Amy responded with so much poison in her tone that it even made her sister flinch.
'This crazy girl!'
On the other hand, Michael also spotted the two sisters coming out of the gate and immediately had an urge when his eyes landed on Andrea and quickened his pace to meet the two.
"Andrea." Michael softly called out to her with a smile on his face.
Andrea didn't say anything, she just smiled and joyfully went over to hug him and wrapped both her hands and legs around him.
With his hands on her butt, Michael was slowly getting hard and started poking a very dangerous place.
'Crap!'
Rosita just looked on before walking away from the lovebirds, and gave Amy a nod along the way and returned to the prison.
"I miss you. Why did you take so long to come back?" Still being carried in his arms, Andrea pulled her body away from Michael and looked at him with a little grievance.
Michael gently got her off of him and responded. "I went cross-state babe and got to Texas. Unfortunately, except for a single survivor base I stumbled along the way. There were barely any survivors I encountered during the journey."
He didn't bother telling her about the dangerous encounter he got on the way back since it would just worry the lady.
"But what is so important that you had to go all the way to Texas? You even brought back a sexy chick with you." Confused and curious, Andrea asked.
Hearing jealousy in her tone, Michael chuckled. "Come on, why don't we continue this talk inside?"
Andrea scoffed before hooking her arms around his and responded. "Fine, but you better tell me the things you did during your journey."
"Okay."
Following that, Michael took Andrea back inside the prison, and when he was about to walk past Amy, he threw a stern glare at her since he figured out she must have blabbered something to Andrea before this.
She pulled a face and briefly stuck her tongue out before following behind the two.
After a while, the trio is sitting around a campfire by the garden.
Alongside them, there's also Jill, T-Dawg, Maggie, Beth, Carl and Lori.
"You really encountered another community? How big is theirs?" Sitting beside Michael and quietly listening to him recounting his encounter with the Greenville base, Andrea felt immensely curious about them.
"Their camp is just as big as ours, but they are ahead in terms of self sustaining, weaponry, and security since they have those tall walls made of a combination of steel and wood." Though Michael is satisfied with how things are with the camp. He also couldn't help but become a little envious of the two story high walls of the Greenville Base.
"I can understand that they have better weapons than us since they're from the army, but how the heck did they manage to build a two story high wall surrounding their camp? Building that two meter high wall at the back was already a lot of work and we even had to keep getting rid of the walkers that were attracted during the construction. Just imagine theirs since they're in the middle of a city." T-Dawg tilted his head, his expression thoughtful while looking at Michael.
"Beats me, I never bothered asking about it." Michael shrugged his shoulders. He never really cared how those people managed to erect those high walls, especially since it hasn't been that long since the outbreak started.
'Its either they must have already been prepared and already built it before the spread happened or they were just extremely lucky during the construction.' Michael thought.
"You created an alliance with them, was it really necessary since there's almost two states of distance between us?" Ever since Michael came back, Jill had been extremely curious about this action from Michael. In her view, this kind of alliance is pretty much useless and also inviting trouble since Michael had given them their location, increasing the risk of being discovered by other communities that's out there.
At this point, Michael already had a grasp on Jill's nature and figured out what her concern was. "It's a back-up plan since there's no absolute in this world. We don't know if our community will even last long until this outbreak is over. We need a place to go in case this falls like the others were before this one. Do not worry that Captain Nova had ulterior motives, and even if he has. He still needs to ask himself if they're group is capable of going cross state since even I had troubles along the road that endangered my life."
Remembering Michael's story of going against hundreds of walkers and managing to emerge victorious against all odds. They once again felt the dread they got the first time Michael told them that story, though there were some that still felt doubts regarding it, like Maggie and her family.
It's to be expected from them since they were never there from the start, and had not personally witnessed any of his feats, from rescuing Sofia to soloing half of the prison, and recently, from a cross state journey.
It seems subduing that heavy mutated walker inside that well by himself wasn't enough to convince them of his capabilities.
"Regarding Merle and Shane, what do you think we should do with them? It's certain that there's a nearby community somewhere around us and they're a part of it. They're in the dark while we're in the light." Since everyone here is a trusted member, Andrea suddenly felt this was the right time to bring up this matter to Michael, and everyone immediately perked up their ears.
'It's the Governor.' Michael already knew who it was when Amy brought up Merle's name earlier today.
"It's not a good idea to keep an unknown force near us. So it's either we take over whatever community those two belong to and assimilate their population, or.." Michael did not continue the latter part of his words, and except for Carl, everyone immediately understood what he was talking about, and immediately felt a shiver down their spine since the thought of committing such an act never once crossed their minds.
"Do we really need to?" Andrea suddenly regretted bringing it up since she never expected such an opinion from Michael.
"No, but if they're a danger to us, then we won't have any choice but to do it. It's either us or them." Michael was just scaring them since he only wanted to instill into their minds that times have changed and human lives are not that precious anymore.
'The only dangerous one is that guy. He's far crazier than me.'
