Reinhard looked at me.
Reinhard: It's impressive you lasted this long against the bowel hunter. Perhaps you were a swordsman in your previous life.
Koji: That does sound right but it's not clear to me.
Felt walked up to me.
Felt: if it wasn't for you I'm sure we would have died.
Rom: Agreed. Thanks for the help.
Koji: Then maybe return the Insignia?
Felt agreed giving it to Emilia. As soon as she did this Reinhard grabbed her arm.
Reinhard: You... what's your name and age?
Felt: It's Felt!
Reinhard: I meant your family name.
Felt: I don't have anything fancy like that. I think I'm about 15. Now let me go.
Reinhar: I'm afraid I can't.
Emilia: If it's about my insignia it's alright. She did return it after all.
Reinhard: It's not about that I...
Koji: It's something important right?
Reinhard: It is.
Emilia: But still.
Koji: Reinhard is a knight and he's shown no signs of malicious intent. I trust him.
A lie. I don't trust anyone so easily but at the very least I was convinced that he wasn't going to harm Felt. Not that it mattered. I simply didn't want to waste time in an extended conversation. Reinhard smiled at me.
Reinhard: Oh I don't deserve such praise. Ha ha.
Felt: Hey I haven't agreed to any of this.
Koji: Either way you're going with him. I don't think we could stop him from taking you if we tried so just cooperate. Things won't be messy that way.
Felt sighed.
Felt: Fine.
The two left.
Emilia: Well Kiyotaka. I'm grateful you saved me so how about you rest at my residence.
Koji: I accept.
We rode on what was a dragon carriage until we reached Emilia's residence.

Roswal Estate
I took a step out of the carriage and followed Emilia into the building. There I met two identical sisters. One has blue hair and the other has pink hair. I took a small bow.
Koji: My name is Ayanokoji Kiyotaka. It's a pleasure to meet you.
???: Sister sister. Our Guest is bowing to us. He shouldn't do that to mere maids.
Koji: No need to say that. Could I get your names?
They introduced themselves. The pink-haired one was Ram and the blue-haired one was Rem. The two lead us to a room for me. I noticed that both of them had some anger directed at me. Especially Rem. Strange. What did I do to offend them?
Ram: The Master of the estate is not here at the moment. He will return tomorrow.
Koji: So you're not the master of this estate Emilia?
Emilia: No I'm not. His name is Roswal Mathers.
Koji: I see.
Emilia: You should sleep. You must be tired from the fight and the long carriage ride.
Koji: Sure. Could I perhaps use the restroom?
Ram told me the directions and I opened the door only to find a library with a little girl sitting in her chair with a book in her hands.
???: What an aggravating man you are I suppose.
Koji: This isn't the bathroom. Sorry for the disturbance.
Koji- Strange. I know I opened the correct door.
I walked out, closed the door behind me and asked Ram who opened the same door to show the bathroom.
Koji: But there was a library. Could it be that the rooms have changed magically?
Ram: Oh that would be Lady Beatrice's Library. She can shift its location to any room in the mansion.
Koji: I see. interesting.
I used the Bathroom stepped back out and opened that door again to find the library.
Beatrice: How did you do that again? Explain yourself I suppose!
Koji: Not sure. I didn't expect it to work. Can I perhaps read some of the books here?
Beatrice: Come over here I suppose.
I walked over to her as she grabbed my hand. I suddenly felt weak as I fell to the ground unconscious.
Beatrice: Well I can confirm you aren't an enemy but I didn't expect you to go down so quickly I suppose.

Bed
I woke up to find Emilia sleeping on a chair next to me. I got up slowly but my body felt weak.
Koji: Ugh...
Emila woke up and saw me moving.
Emilia: Hey don't move so much.
Koji: Sorry. Looks like I woke you.
Emilia bowed her head.
Emilia: I'm truly sorry about lady Beatrice. She didn't mean for this to happen.
Koji: What did she even do?
Puck floated out of his gem.
Puck: She absorbed your Mana but since you have such a low capacity you fainted right away.
Koji: I have low mana capacity.
Puck: Yes you do. Most of the time that happens because the body is damaged in the person's early years as a child.
Emilia: Kiyotaka...
Koji: I suppose that must be the case then.
Emilia: Are you okay?
Koji: I'm fine. It doesn't bother me that much anymore.
Puck: Still your gate seems to be average. I wouldn't advise using more than one spell per day unless you draw in mana from your surroundings. So you'd be better of as a Spirit Arts User.
Koji: I don't really know how to use magic though.
Puck: Really? But your gate... Hmm considering that your gate is probably above average by a bit.
Koji: Huh... I see.
Puck: Your affinity seems to be... hm? Oh, that's wierd! Steel Magic.
Emilia: Steel Magic?
Puck: Hm. I'm not sure how you got this but you should be able to generate steel using the mana in your surroundings.
Koji: Well that sounds useful.
Puck: The problem is... I've never actually heard of anyone able to use it. Maybe it's divine protection?
Emilia: That would be amazing and really lucky.
Koji: What exactly is divine protection?
Puck: It's an ability granted to people from birth.
Koji- Hm. Unlikely to be that then.
Puck: But there are other ways of getting it but I doubt that would be the case. Regardless it stems from Earth Magic so let me teach you some basic Earth magic. But first rest up.
Koji: Sure.
After a while, we stepped outside for the lesson.
Puck: Dona.
While it wasn't his specialty Puck generated a pillar of earth.
Koji: I see. Any tips?
Puck: You have to visualise it and feel the mana from your surroundings enter your gate and then back out.
Koji: I see.
Koji concentrated as he put his arm out in front of him.
Koji: Donna!
A pillar of earth appeared before him but it collapsed soon after.
Puck: Nice try but you're a little off.
Koji made a second attempt as the Pillar stood strong.
Puck: Huh. You got it on the second try. Nice.
Ram walked over to us.
Ram: Lord Roswal has returned.
We all headed inside to the dining area where I sat down at the table with Emila, the maids and a man who looked like a clown as well. Something about this man felt... unnatural.
???: Helloooo Ayanokoji-Kun was it?
Koji: That's right.
???: I am Roswal Mathers. The master of this estate.
Koji: I see. It's good to meet you.
Koji- He seems wary of me? But why?
Roswal: I heard that you are the one who saved Emilia-Sama from an assassin.
Koji: Emilia-Sama? I had a feeling you were an important figure but I couldn't confirm it. After all that insignia was well crafted.
Emilia looked at me awkwardly laughing to herself a little.
Roswal: Oh you don't knowww? Emilia-Sama is a candidate to become the next ruler of this nation.
Koji: Is that so?
Emila: Yes. It's true. I mean. I didn't mean to hide it or anything.
Koji: It's fine.
Roswal: As thanks you may ask a favour from me and I will do what I can within my power to help you.
Koji: There are only three things I want. First is some reading and writing lessons. Then some funds to buy a residence in the city and perhaps a recommendation for a job in the city that involves manual labour?
Roswal: Oh I see. Of course. The reading and writing lessons... Ram you can handle it right?
Ram: Of course Roswal-Sama.
Roswal: For the job, I'll take a look around for something you're suited to. As for the funds, I'll arrange that after a while.
Koji: Thank you for your hospitality.
I bowed my head in respect and walked with Ram who was going to teach me language.
Ram: In here.
She directed me inside and we slowly began to process of learning.
Ram: You sure pick up things quickly. Did you really lose your memory?
She looked at me with suspicion.
Koji: I have no recollection of Lugonica or its language. I'm just a fast learner.
Ram: Hm. Well, what do you think of the fairy tales?
Koji: Well they're interesting at the very least. Ram. Thank you for teaching me to read. You're an excellent teacher.
Ram smiled for a second.
Ram: Of course I am Ayanotaka.
Koji: What's with mixing my first and last name in order to adress me?
Ram smiled proudly as she left the room.
Koji- ... honestly.
Koji was going to sleep when he heard something outside his room. Koji took a look outside to see a mace whirlling towards him. He ducked jumping back.
Koji- Why? Who is attacking me?
Koji jumped out of the window into the flowers below landing on his feet as he rushed away fromt the estate. He dodged another attack jumping over it.
Koji: Who are you and why are you attacking me?
The person didn't respond but from the way thier footsteps sounded Koji was able to deduce who it was.
Koji: Rem or Ram?
Rem stepped out.
Koji: What exactly is the meaning of this?
Rem: You. Who are you affliliated with?
Koji: I have no ida what you're talking about.
Rem: Is it one of the other candidates? Or is it the witch cult?
Koji: Witch Cult? What is that?
Rem: Don't lie! How can you claim to not know them when the stench of the witch lingers on you like that!?
Koji: The stench of the witch?
Rem: Even if you don't know that could be explined by the fact that you lost your memories. This could all be their elaborate lan to attack us.
Koji- Not good.
Koji: I'll be leaving tomorrow. theres no need to suspect me. I was only waiting for some funds and a reccomendation from Lord Roswal.
Rem: How dare you! A witch cultist who robbed my sistter of everything come to this place were we live. Demand money from our master and have us serve you like that! How dare you!
Koji: I told you I'm nnot involved with them.
A horn grew from Rem's head and she attacked him once more.
Koji: Dona!
I pillar sprouts as Rem's chain wrapped around it.
Koji used this as a distraction to get away but as he was running he fell over.
Koji- What the...
He checked to see that his leg had been severed.
Koji- Wind magic. It's hard to detect. You have to hear for it. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
Rem closed in and healed his leg.
Rem: Tell me everything you know.
Koji: This loop is a failure. There's no way for me to survive. I'll have to use that. This better work.
Rem: What are you talkig about!?
Koji tried crawling away but then stopped as Rem turned over his body. He had bit his own tongue. He had crawled as a distraction to give himself enough time to die beofre she could heal him.

Roswall Mansion
Koji woke up in the bed.
Koji- It's good that it worked again. It seems the point in time I return to have changed. I should first figure out what point in time I'm in.
Koji tried getting up but couldn't.
Koji- Definetely after Beatrice did whatever that was to me.
Koji sighed.
Koji- Dying is so troublesome.
