Chapter 647: The Intelligent Spider Suit

After his friend Ned hacked into the Spider Suit's system, Peter finally realized that the suit he'd been wearing all along was actually a "stripped-down" version with only basic functions enabled.

Now faced with the fully unlocked version, the suit was undoubtedly far more powerful, but Peter found it difficult to adapt. During his nighttime activities, he ended up making quite a fool of himself.

With the help of the suit's built-in AI, Peter managed to track down the location of a smuggling ring.

Interestingly, the AI in the Spider Suit spoke with a female voice, reminiscent of Tony's AI butler, JARVIS. One couldn't help but wonder if the two AIs were "siblings."

There's no denying it—Tony truly outdid himself when designing this suit for Peter.

With the AI's assistance, even an ordinary person could likely don the suit and become a superhero patrolling the city. Rhodey and Tony himself were proof of that. Neither of them underwent any super-soldier serum transformations or were bitten by radioactive spiders.

Logically, with such an advanced suit paired with Peter's extraordinary physical abilities, it should have created a "1+1 > 2" effect.

But reality was the opposite. Peter struggled to adjust to the high-tech "lazy man's" fighting style.

For instance, when switching battle modes, he discovered that the web he shot out had turned into a barrage of bullets instead of his usual swing line, causing him to faceplant embarrassingly on the ground.

It was then he learned that the suit had a whopping 576 web-shooting modes designed for him!

Peter couldn't help but grumble, "Mr. Stark, you really went overboard with this!"

But to the audience watching outside the video, Peter seemed utterly ungrateful.

After all, his predecessors didn't have it so easy. Spider-Man #3 (Andrew's version) at least had access to Oscorp labs to upgrade his suit with some advanced materials. Meanwhile, poor Spider-Man #1 (Tobey's version) had to make his suit from scratch at a tailor shop.

Even Magneto couldn't help shaking his head and remarking, "Hmph, they're all Spider-Men, but this kid is just like a spoiled child. He's no different from Raven, Charles."

Having seen the future of Spider-Man #3 in a previous Quiz game video, Erik initially thought little of him. But now, comparing the two, Erik found himself appreciating the earlier Spider-Man far more.

Charles's expression shifted slightly at the mention of Raven, but he shook his head. "He's still a kid, Erik. So is Raven. Forcing adult perspectives and expectations onto children isn't helpful—it can do more harm than good."

Erik snorted dismissively. "Alright, alright, wise and benevolent Professor X. Keep playing kindergarten teacher. Time will prove who's right and who's wrong."

Logan, clearly irritated, waved them off. "Quiet. Watch the video."

On screen, despite Peter's awkward missteps, he didn't back down. He tracked the smugglers and discovered they were planning to rob a disaster recovery department transport truck.

A few lackeys acted as lookouts while the gang's leader, Adrian Toomes (the Vulture), silently descended above the truck. Using a special device, he cut a hole into the truck's roof and dropped inside, picking through the department's confiscated "scrap."

Peter tailed them the entire time. But as Toomes prepared to leave, Peter confronted him, leading to their second clash. Unfortunately, Peter was once again outmatched and easily shaken off.

During the scuffle, Peter accidentally fell into the truck. When he attempted to jump out, he discovered the hole in the roof had vanished, and he slammed headfirst into the solid truck wall, knocking himself unconscious.

By the time he woke up, the truck had already arrived at the disaster recovery storage facility.

The AI helpfully informed him that this was the most secure site on the East Coast. But Peter was now trapped inside, and he still had a promise to keep: to help his class win the academic decathlon the next day. Originally, he'd planned to wrap up this mission and make it back in time. But, as they say, plans never go as expected.

At this point, many viewers watching the video sighed in disappointment.

Compared to other superheroes—especially the two previous Spider-Men—this new Spider-Man seemed underwhelming.

He had superhuman abilities, Tony Stark as a mentor, and even an incredibly advanced suit. Yet he still managed to mess up repeatedly.

If he couldn't adapt to the suit's new functions, why not take some time to learn and strategize before rushing into action?

The last encounter with Toomes had already gone poorly. But instead of gathering intel or preparing better, Peter charged in recklessly again, making the same mistakes.

It's not that people can't accept a superhero failing. Even Batman, a master tactician, has faced defeat.

The earlier Spider-Men also experienced failure, some even devastating losses. But what set them apart was their ability to learn and grow from their mistakes. That's what made them true heroes.

So far, this Spider-Man, though intelligent and talented, lacked that crucial quality. He seemed too immature, despite having advantages that his predecessors never did.

Erik remained firm in his judgment. "See? This is what happens when you pamper someone too much. Without Tony Stark cleaning up his messes, this kid would've gotten himself killed a hundred times over."

Charles shook his head silently. In his heart, he knew Peter was a good kid, just lacking proper guidance.

Tony might've provided an incredible suit, but when it came to teaching a child, he clearly had no idea what he was doing. So it wouldn't be fair to put all the blame on Peter.

On the other hand, Peter himself was feeling even more dejected.

He had, of course, seen the videos of the other Spider-Men. Ever since the Quiz game revealed that he would one day become Spider-Man, everyone around him—students, teachers, even his Aunt May—had pinned their hopes on him.

At first, Aunt May had been hesitant, worried about the dangers of being a superhero. But after seeing the videos of the other Spider-Men, she came to accept that being Spider-Man was Peter's destiny.

Determined to prepare him as best she could, Aunt May took it upon herself to raise him into a more capable hero.
