Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: Will It Be Okay to Apologize?:
Qin Shu stepped forward, unsurprised to see Ye Han.
After all, Ye Han was the Son of Fortune, and the system had confirmed he was at the Saint Level of fortune. (Fortune levels: low, middle, high, holy.)
True to expectations, upon learning that his fiancée had been taken from him, Ye Han had rushed to confront her, been insulted, and shouted a famous vow before challenging her to a three-year duel.
Now, Ye Han glared at Qin Shu coldly. This was the man who had come to propose marriage and stolen his fiancée.
The hatred of having one’s fiancée taken was irreconcilable!
Qin Shu studied Ye Han from head to toe. His delicate features and simple clothes revealed how fate had marked him as the Son of Fortune. Yet, the cold stare Ye Han gave him irritated Qin Shu immensely.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Does it feel like I’ve put dust in your eyes?”
Ye Han snorted, his disdain clear.
To him, Qin Shu was nothing more than a spoiled playboy from a powerful family, and his cultivation was just a product of abundant resources.
Would he dare to put dust in my eyes? How ridiculous.
Closing his eyes, Ye Han chose to ignore him.
Li Yunxin, however, was annoyed. “Why did you interrupt me?” she asked, clearly dissatisfied. “He’s a loser now, and he’ll still be a loser in three years. There’s no need to stop me.”
Li Yunxin’s confidence in herself and disdain for Ye Han’s mediocrity were evident. She had every reason to feel superior.
Qin Shu shook his head, amused by her naivety. Too young, too naive, he thought.
The Son of Fortune couldn’t be judged by normal logic. But how could she know that this “loser” was destined for unimaginable luck? Her perspective was, unfortunately, quite reasonable for someone unaware of such realities.
“Yunxin, I think it’s inappropriate for you to agree to his bet.” Qin Shu said calmly.
Li Yunxin frowned. “Inappropriate? What’s wrong with it?”
Qin Shu explained, “If you think he’s not worthy of you, it’s because of his background, his lack of talent, and the enormous gap between your statuses. You two are worlds apart. But agreeing to his bet lowers your own status.”
“If he wants to challenge you, he must first earn the qualifications to do so. Right now, he has none. Betting on his future is foolish. If he does gain qualifications in the future, you’ll only look like someone reckless who agreed to a gamble.”
“If you accept, you’re playing his game. You’d only be walking into his trap.”
Li Yunxin paused, letting his words sink in. Slowly, she began to understand.
The difference in their qualifications was undeniable. Agreeing to a bet with someone so beneath her would only demean her. Worse, she’d be stuck thinking about Ye Han for the next three years, allowing him to occupy her mind—a man she already detested.
Her marriage might even be delayed because of this pointless agreement.
“That’s awful,” she muttered.
I almost fell into his trap.
Her disgust for Ye Han deepened. “You’re right,” she admitted. “How could he be qualified to bet with me? I nearly walked into his scheme. What a disgrace.”
She couldn’t help but admire Qin Shu’s quick thinking. He’d pointed out what she had completely overlooked.
Ye Han’s face darkened, his emotions a swirl of frustration and anger. He knew he wasn’t currently qualified to challenge Li Yunxin, which was why he had proposed the three-year bet.
He was confident he would surpass her in three years, avenging his humiliation and his father’s honor. But now Qin Shu had ruined everything, stopping the bet before it could even begin. It felt like being denied the release of long-held tension.
[The host blocked the 3 year agreement, leaving the Son of Fortune, Ye Han, in resentment. Reward: 6,666 villain points.]
[First suppression of the Son of Fortune! Additional reward: Divine Level Comprehension.]
Qin Shu’s spirits soared.
A reward just for stopping the three-year agreement? And an extra bonus, too!
He quickly grasped the situation. If the agreement had been established, it would have given Ye Han a clear goal and emotional release, stabilizing his resolve. But by stopping it, Qin Shu had effectively trapped him in his frustration, like blocking an inevitable flood.
As expected of the Son of Fortune—suppressing him earned an incredible reward.
The additional reward of Divine Level Comprehension was especially valuable. In this world, beyond talent, comprehension was vital for mastering techniques, deciphering restrictions, and progressing in cultivation. With this reward, even the most complex skills would become easy for him.
This is incredible!
Qin Shu’s gaze shifted to Ye Han, now tinged with amusement and a hint of predation.
“Qin Shu!” Ye Han snapped, his voice filled with anger. If not for Qin Shu, 3 year agreement would have been sealed, providing him with the clarity he desperately needed.
But when Ye Han met Qin Shu’s eyes, a chill ran down his spine. Why did it feel like he was being watched by a predator?
“What do you want from me?” Ye Han asked, trying to mask his unease.
“Nothing,” Qin Shu replied with a faint smile. “But there’s something you need to do.”
“What is it?” Ye Han asked warily.
Qin Shu’s expression hardened. “You yelled at Yunxin earlier. Have you apologized? Is it okay to act like that without apologizing?”
Li Yunxin blinked in surprise, ‘Is Qin Shu standing up for me?’
Ye Han’s face turned livid.
In his mind, it was Li Yunxin who had wronged him by breaking their engagement. Why should he apologize?
“It was her fault. Why should I apologize?” Ye Han retorted.
Qin Shu’s tone was icy. “I don’t care who’s right or wrong. You raised your voice at her. Either you apologize, or you crawl out of here. Don’t test my patience.”
Qin Shu’s principle was simple—he always sided with his own people, regardless of the circumstances. Justice for outsiders was irrelevant to him.
While the idea of eliminating Ye Han was tempting, doing so publicly in the Capital was too risky. Even with Xia Zehai’s influence, political enemies and the emperor’s scrutiny would make such a move dangerous.
For now, a beating would suffice.
The servant who had accompanied Qin Shu stepped forward, his expression fierce and ready for action.
“What are you planning to do?” Ye Han asked cautiously.
Though he had secretly cultivated to the 8th stage Body Refining Realm, he knew there was no way he could take on so many people. “Is it even lawful for someone to beat people in the street?”
Qin Shu smirked coldly. “Alright then, let’s see whose side the law is really on.”
A chill ran down Ye Han’s spine.
Qin Shu was not just anyone—he was a man of high rank and influence, and his uncle was the commander of the patrol battalion, holding significant authority. Even if Ye Han were beaten to a pulp, who would dare step forward to defend him?
It was clear the law would never favor someone like him in this situation.
Ye Han clenched his fists in frustration.
Taking action now would only make things worse for him. There was no other choice—he had to endure this humiliation for the time being.
Grinding his teeth, he lowered his head and muttered, “I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have yelled at you earlier.”
Internally, his thoughts seethed with anger. This humiliation… I’ll repay it twice over someday!
[The host forced Son of Fortune Ye Han to endure humiliation and gained 8,888 villain points.]
Qin Shu, however, wasn’t satisfied. His tone remained cold. “Is that all? Speak louder—I can’t hear you!”
Ye Han’s scalp tingled with unease, and the demand to repeat his apology made him feel unbearably humiliated. He closed his eyes, steeling himself, and shouted, “I’m sorry! It’s my fault! I shouldn’t have yelled at you earlier!”
Seeing Ye Han apologize so publicly and pathetically, Li Yunxin felt an overwhelming sense of relief. Her earlier frustration and anger melted away, leaving her in a much better mood.
Qin Shu, satisfied, turned to Li Yunxin. “Feeling better now?”
Li Yunxin’s heart trembled slightly. Qin Shu had not only stood up for her but was now checking on her well-being with genuine concern.
This level of attentiveness and consideration left her deeply moved.
“Yes… I feel much better,” she replied, her voice softer than usual.
