Chapter 539 The Birth of a Lord of the Kingdom (2)
539 The Birth of a Lord of the Kingdom (2)
The scroll was special. While its color was like any other scroll, this one had three huge seals representing three different Clans.
As soon as he pulled it out, Frederick began to read it.
"The thawing of the Frozen Staff of the Dark Realm is hereby authorized, for the Fifth Time in History, to give birth to a new Kingdom Lord: Matthew Dietrich."
"Principal Signatories: Clan Allen, the proponent of the idea. Clan Murphy, Host of the Event. And..." Frederick smiled. He had purposely left the last part of the scroll a little bent so that no one could fully see the third seal, but then he opened it.
"Clan Wagner, guest of honor."
'Clan Wagner? Wasn't it Clan Turner?" thought many in shock.
It was common knowledge that, among the 7 Vampire Clans, Edevane and Relish were growing closer and closer to each other. Allen and Murphy have been great allies forever.
Clan Becker, one of the two weaker ones, had a penchant for following Edevane and Relish, while Clan Turner, the other weaker one, was almost always in alliance with Clan Allen and was almost a follower of Clan Allen.
That's why many people expected it to be Turner, but they still wanted to know because of the recent revelations of Clan Allen pairing Matthew Dietrich with Alice Allen, which was somewhat against Clan Turner's wishes.
But the Wagner Clan? It was the richest Clan on a monetary level, the Leader of the Blacksmith Kingdom, and the main participant in the creation of the Central City of the World. This Clan has always been known for its neutrality.
How could it ever sign an agreement like this, clearly supporting the Allen Clan?
That certainly no one expected.
Frederick, for his part, continued speaking.
"To all this declaration and swearing in, Clan Scháfer, Clan Independent, joins the missive and decides to support the swearing in of Matthew Dietrich as Lord of the Kingdom." He revealed and also showed the signature.
It wasn't necessary, though.
Just then, when everyone was in shock that an Independent Clan had taken matters into their own hands, Clan Allen and Clan Murphy stood up.
At the same time, Clan Leader Wagner, along with his eldest son, Liam Wagner, and some other powerful people of the Clan, rose from one of the towers on the site to raise their flag.
The Leader of the Wagner Clan stepped forward.
"I signed this agreement because Matthew Dietrich is worthy of the title. Now, I will take this opportunity to issue a statement, even if it goes against some of my Clan members." With his words and appearance, he left everyone expectant, so he didn't keep them waiting.
"My Wagner Clan has always remained neutral since its creation; that neutrality has earned us immense wealth, but we have also neglected the race and its problems. That is why, as of today, my Wagner Clan will abandon the historical neutrality that has characterized us and enter a period of vanguardism to protect the race."
"All of you should know this. The day when the Divine City opens is getting closer and closer, but we have seen bold moves in the Human Clans, Devourers, and other races, who are trying to destabilize us. If those moves succeed, we may fail because the loss of power we will have by the time the Divine City opens and the Heirs have to go to fulfill their mission will be significant."
"In addition, because of this, the race has been weakened. Although we are still the most powerful, the presence of some traitors has divided our power, and part of it now points to our race's necks. Therefore, I have decided to take the path of our ancestors once again to retake vampire supremacy. I hope this does not upset certain clans, and they can understand."
"My name is Ken Wagner."
After a strong statement, with mixed realities and a firm stance, his words caused quite a stir among those present, although not many dared to say anything, either for or against.
That's because there was still one more clan, an Independent Clan. Known to have a power level close to that of the Vampire Clans, they also have Dietrich blood running through their veins.
They are the most neutral Clans in existence, and they are important. Because of their existence, the Vampire Clans have not taken control of all of the Five Kingdoms (besides the fact that they place little value on the realms). But they are the ones who keep any situation concerning the civilians and the Vampire Clans at bay. They are neutral but support civilians more than anything else.
And this time is no different.
"Our Independent Clans once signed an agreement with the Civil Society and the Vampire Clans to remain neutral in the face of any adversity, as long as the rights of our race were respected, above all, of the civilian population that has nothing to do with their personal problems. That agreement of neutrality and companionship we have accompanied for more than 1 million years, and we are always ready to fulfill it." He began, remarking on the position of the Independent Clans.
They had their own way of doing things, too, so the fact that one was here meant the situation was serious.
He continued. "But the current situation has turned the tables. Discoveries of many vampires working with deadly enemy races started the situation. I'd seen it thousands of years ago, but we didn't think it would darken them to make them so arrogant as to think of replacing our heritage."
"While we once fought to belong to the Vampire Clans, we realized that our ancestors had not chosen us for it, but that does not detract from the fact that we do not have their blood in our veins. And it is thanks to that blood that we are now so great. To see that there are bastards who want to destroy that legacy makes us feel a deep rage because that means they want to destroy us."
"That is why my Scháfer Clan, and ours alone for now, has decided to leave neutrality, as has the Wagner Clan. Perhaps our decision carries more weight because of our signed agreement, but you violated the pact first, so don't expect us to stand idly by."
"I am Haton Scháfer."
