Primordial Soul's Rebirth

CHAPTER 391 - Yamel Parker.

[Antagonist's Quest: -

Quest objective: An overly cautious soul of a past hero has been reborn, wanting nothing other than a peaceful life with his loved ones.

Quest reward: Depends on your approach.

Additional information: One of the most talented heroes of this planet's history, but had one defect, and that was arrogance. He was full of it. He never listened to what others had to say and did what he thought was the best.

But the thing was that everything went well for him, and he never faced any problems at all—that was until the demon lord appeared.

When the demon lord appeared, the hero grew elated, thinking that he was finally going to have a competition. That was the sole reason why, even though he was stronger than the demon lord at that time, he let the demon lord grow.

What he didn't know was that, just like him, the demon lord was just as monstrous as him, and unlike him, the demon lord wasn't arrogant.

He did realize that fact soon enough, but it was already too late for him—the demon lord was standing in front of him, with his hand piercing him, and the demon lord smiled.

That was the last memory of the hero before he found himself reincarnated in a house near the borders of the demon empire as a demon.

Since then, he had been trying to live a quiet life, away from everything happening in the world; if not for the chance encounter with Selina, he would've never left the village.

Time limit: No time limit.

Alex scanned through the quest, just to make sure that it was the same as other quests, but it wasn't.

This guy was a protagonist, but there was nothing he was trying to take away from Alex.

This guy, Yamel Parker, was different from other protagonists who like to pretend and love the spotlight; he just wanted his peace and quiet.

From the information about the guy in the quest window and the information he got after looking into this guy—which was a bit hard due to one of the artifacts this guy was wearing but doable—he could tell what type of guy he was.

Yamel was an overly cautious guy—just like Selina had told.

He died in his last life due to carelessness, so in this life, he wanted to be as alert as he could be.

Even now, when Alex could clearly tell that this guy looked subservient, Alex could see him circulating his mana inside of his body, just so that when the time came and he needed to fight, he would be a millisecond faster than his enemy.

Just for that, he continuously kept some of his focus on doing that.

That was how cautious that guy was.

"Yamel Parker greets the demon lord."

The moment Yamel found Alex's eyes on himself was the moment he went down on a knee, his palm on his chest as he greeted Alex with the respect that was deserved by a lord.

"Rise."

Alex nodded his head, on the outside and on the inside.

He had been observing Yamel from the moment that guy entered the hall, and from what he could see, after sparing a glance at them, the guy never looked back at his girls.

But well, it was not uncalled for.

First of all, Yamel wants to stay away from trouble, and no matter how good a woman is, if she is together with someone else, then looking at her means only trouble, not to mention the one in front of him was with the demon lord.

If that was not enough, then this guy wanted to live a peaceful life with his loved ones and wanted to be able to protect them, so if he were to keep on increasing his 'loved ones' then wouldn't he face more problems while protecting them?

'I might just not kill this guy...'

Alex muttered inwardly, as he really didn't think this guy could cause him any harm.

Yamel didn't have ambitions; he just wanted to live a normal life.

He didn't lust for beauty, as that would only bring him trouble.

He was strong enough to be able to survive a general's attack, yet no one knew about him.

He seemed like the guy who would be loyal as fuck if treated properly.

Like, this guy had all the properties Alex could ask for!

'A perfect guard god!'

Alex exclaimed inwardly, already thinking of a spot for Yamel.

The guy, on the other hand, remained oblivious to all of this and kept his head down.

'Why did the demon lord want to see me?'

'Is he going to ask me to go to war or something?'

'Can I deny him? I don't think so...'

'Fuck! It was my fault for trying to look after Master, who is way stronger for me to even worry about her.'

Yamel just stood in his spot, nervously waiting for Alex's next words.

He wasn't scared of Alex's power; he didn't even know how powerful Alex was. He was cautious about Alex's authority—something even his master's authority couldn't undermine.

He didn't want to go out and fight, as he knew, that once he came to light, he wouldn't be able to go back to his peaceful life.

"I see now; you sure are interesting."

It was then that Alex spoke, his eyes peering deep into Yamel's soul, sending a shiver down the guy's spine.

'Strong.'

Yamel could now tell that Alex was strong as well. The intensity he felt from Alex's gaze was just like his Master, Selina's.

"Thank you, my lord."

Yamel didn't know if Alex was saying that as a compliment or not, but he believed it to be a compliment and thanked Alex.

This way, even if Alex was trying to insult him, there would be no other word to continue that insult.

"Hm..."

Alex nodded slowly, humming along with it before his eyes turned toward Selina.

"He is your student, but why do I not feel any space affinity from him?"

Alex questioned, as it was the truth.

From what Selina had told him, she could sense people's space affinity, but Yamel didn't have an affinity with space, much less an exceptional one, so why did she pick him up?

"I didn't pick him up because of his affinity, my lord; I took him in because he requested me to."

Selina replied, giggling a bit as she recalled the 5-year-old Yamel trying to make her believe that he would become stronger—strong enough to repay her if she helped him.

"Oh? It seems like a story I would like to hear."

Alex's interest was piqued as he heard Selina's words.

Wasn't Yamel a cautious guy? Why did he involve himself with Selina then? No way he didn't know how famous Selina was or how strong she was, so why then?

"Ah, my lord, if you wish, I shall tell you all about it."

Selina smiled, glancing at Yamel for a second, and seeing that guy still tense, she just shook her head.

'What can I do about him...?'

She, as his Master, had tried to explain to him that being overly cautious isn't always good, but he just wouldn't listen to her.

Although she had known him since he was 5, she felt like Yamel had been through something that had turned him into what he was.

It could be a trauma; maybe something had happened in the 5 years she didn't know anything about him, something that left a deep scar in his mind, a scar that made him what he was.

But no matter how hard she tried to look for it, she couldn't find anything.

She talked to Yamel's mother as well; unfortunately, that was something she wanted to know an answer to as well.

She said that Yamel had always been a quiet kid who didn't like mingling with his peers.

In the end, even Selina let it be; no matter how he lived, he did what he wanted to, and no one was forcing him to do anything, so she was fine with it.

"Of course, tell me about it."

Alex, on the other hand, was now worry-free. There was no more worry about a protagonist of the demon empire trying to take his throne, so he thought of listening to the story of the protagonist.

He already got all he wanted to.

His goal, which at first was killing the protagonist, had now changed.

He wasn't going to kill the guy now.

He was going to subordinate the guy.

For now, however, he would let the guy be, letting him live in peace.

At first, he wanted to test Yamel's power as well, but after looking at his skill set, he changed his mind.

Yamel was a good shield, and he could protect himself and those around him from almost any kind of attack.

Alex was sure that he would be able to survive a demon general's relentless attack as well.

But when it came to Alex, all he had to do was let a spark of shatter devourer touch Yamel's shield, and the game was already over.

Yamel wouldn't even get a chance to attack.

So now, he just listened to the story of the guy with his girls and passed the time just like that.
