Pokémon: Trainer Paul

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Paul vs. Roark (Part 2)

"Unbelievable, it can fly! Onix, use Double-Edge!"

Roark was stunned but quickly issued his command.

Onix adjusted its massive body and charged Elekid with a full force.

"Use Brick Break!"

Elekid stood its ground, channeling energy into its hands, and struck down with Brick Break.

Boom!

The clash between the two Pokémon was intense, but neither gained the upper hand.

After the impact, they separated and began preparing for the next round of attacks.

"Onix, use Rock Tomb!"

At Roark's command, Onix unleashed its power.

In an instant, dozens of massive rocks fell from the sky, covering most of the battlefield.

"Quick Attack!"

Elekid, known for its agility, used its Magnet Rise ability to maneuver through the falling rocks with incredible dexterity.

It darted between the rocks, leaping as if it were a certain electric mouse, evading all damage. It successfully reached Onix's head.

"Double-Edge!"

With no other option, Onix prepared to counterattack, gathering its full strength to strike.

But Paul wasn't planning to engage Onix head-on again.

"Focus Blast!"

Elekid charged up a Focus Blast and hurled it at Onix while using Magnet Rise to change its position.

Boom!

The collision of Double-Edge and Focus Blast created a standoff, neither attack overpowering the other.

"Bzzt bzzt~"

At that moment, Elekid appeared on Onix's back, its glowing hands striking down repeatedly.

Brick Break!

The attack was super effective!

Caught in the stalemate with Focus Blast, Onix couldn't divide its attention. The repeated hits from Brick Break weakened it significantly, and it couldn't withstand the final impact of Focus Blast, which exploded on its head.

Boom!

Gray smoke billowed from Onix's head. Elekid landed on the ground, watching calmly as the massive serpent collapsed.

"Onix is unable to battle. Elekid is the winner!"

The referee announced.

"Return, Onix. You've done well."

Roark retrieved Onix into its Poké Ball and looked at Paul with newfound respect.

"Your Pokémon are exceptionally well-trained. It feels like you've been controlling the pace of the battle from the start. You're nothing like a rookie trainer."

"However, let's see if I can break your rhythm!"

"Go, Rampardos!"

Roar!

With a powerful toss of the Poké Ball, a Rampardos with a black body and blue stripes appeared on the field. Its red eyes and white spikes on its head and neck exuded an aura of ferocity and power.

"Rampardos, use Focus Energy!"

This time, Roark didn't hold back and issued his command directly.

Roar!

Rampardos took a deep breath, focusing its mental energy and sharpening its aura.

"Thunder Wave!"

As Rampardos was concentrating, a wave of electricity emanated from Elekid, surrounding its opponent.

Although Rampardos' Mold Breaker ability allowed it to ignore Elekid's Static ability, it couldn't negate the effects of Thunder Wave.

Paralyzed, Rampardos' movements became sluggish.

"Focus Blast!"

Taking advantage of Rampardos' reduced speed, Elekid charged up another Focus Blast and launched it.

"Head Smash!"

Rampardos, unable to dodge, used its overwhelming strength to counterattack.

Roar!

With a furious roar, Rampardos forced itself to overcome the paralysis, its head glowing with white light. It charged forward with incredible force, breaking through the Focus Blast instantly and heading straight for Elekid.

Paul wanted Elekid to evade, but Rampardos' speed even while paralyzed, was astonishing. Paul had no choice but to change tactics.

"Protect!"

"Bzzt! bzzt!"

Elekid crossed its arms and summoned a green protective barrier around itself.

Boom!

The impact of Head Smash collided with the protective shield.

Rampardos, like a battering ram, met Elekid's fortress-like defense. The collision shook the battlefield as if an earthquake had struck, with energy surging between the two.

Crack!

A faint sound alerted Elekid. Its protective shield shattered like glass, leaving it defenseless.

In desperation, Elekid struck Rampardos with a final Brick Break at its fastest speed yet.

Boom!

The clash sent Elekid flying across the battlefield.

Falling to the ground, Elekid struggled to get up, its body trembling uncontrollably.

Paul observed the scene intently. Rampardos' level and raw power were incredibly high, and its attacks could deal massive damage.

The fact that Rampardos' Head Smash had broken through Protect demonstrated its immense strength, rivaling even that of an Ursaring.

Elekid was barely holding on, its sheer willpower preventing it from fainting.

However, its energy was nearly drained, and it could no longer continue fighting effectively.

Rampardos too, had taken considerable recoil damage from its attack.

"That's enough. Return, Elekid."

Paul withdrew Elekid and sent out another Pokémon.

"Gible, get ready for battle!"

Sha!

Gible stepped onto the battlefield, its fighting spirit unshaken as it glared at Rampardos with determination.

Before it could act, several rocks from a Stealth Rock attack began converging on Gible.

"Huh?!"

Gible instinctively smashed the nearest rock with a punch, shattering it completely.

Unfortunately, the Stealth Rock attack wasn't limited to a single projectile. More rocks followed, and Gible couldn't avoid taking damage.

Boom!

Gible was injured as soon as it entered the field.

"Stealth Rock can be broken ahead of time if prepared…"

Paul made a mental note but didn't dwell on it.

"Charge forward!"

At Paul's command, Gible dashed toward Rampardos with its stubby legs.

"Use Dragon Pulse!"

Rampardos opened its massive jaws, forming a powerful Dragon Pulse that materialized as an energy dragon surging toward Gible.

The energy it emitted made Gible uneasy.
