Pokémon: The Strongest Trainer (Ash SI)

Chapter 24: Chapter 23: Chidori~!

"Pikachu, use Cell Activation!" Ash shouted.

In response to Ash's command, Pikachu initiated Cell Activation. Though its base speed still didn't match a Steelix's raw power, Pikachu's own speed had been pushed to the peak of the quasi-Elite level. Given Steelix's inherently low speed, Pikachu now had a massive advantage in agility.

"Pika~!" A surge of yellow electricity crackled around Pikachu's body. In a flash, Pikachu became a blur, zipping across the battlefield at astonishing speed.

"He's fast…!" Garan muttered, eyes narrowing. "With that kind of speed, even Steelix has to be careful when attacking!"

"Steelix, use Rock Tomb! Lock down Pikachu's movements!" Garan ordered suddenly, aiming to box Pikachu in and cut off its momentum.

"Not a chance! Pikachu, Quick Attack—combine with Agility!" Ash countered.

Pikachu responded instantly. It became a streak of yellow light, darting through the field with such speed that afterimages appeared—making it nearly impossible to tell which one was the real Pikachu.

"Unbelievable speed… those afterimages are practically Clones!"

"And look at Pikachu's expression—completely relaxed. That confirms it: Cell Activation has no visible side effects."

"Judging by the name, it probably involves stored electricity stimulating the cells, temporarily enhancing their regenerative ability and performance," one of the spectators speculated.

"It sounds like something most Electric-types could potentially use… but stimulating cells in certain body parts could be risky. Learning this move must be extremely difficult!"

Among the onlookers, members of the Dragon Clan were already analyzing Pikachu's performance in detail—as any experienced trainer would. Understanding an opponent's skill set and strength is critical for battle preparation.

"You're all focused on Ash's current Pokémon," Skye Draconis commented calmly, "but have any of you considered what happens when these skills are passed down to future generations?"

"You mean… Ash's Pokémon descendants might inherit these abilities?" Lance asked with a thoughtful look.

"Exactly. With proper training, the offspring of Ash's Pokémon might one day rival even our Dragonite in power," Skye said, his tone both speculative and confident.

It wasn't just wishful thinking. In the Pokémon world, inherited moves and traits are a known phenomenon. With the right breeding and training, Ash's Pokémon lineage could easily produce Champions.

"You're right," Dragon Clan heir Shiro agreed. "If the skills are passed down, their descendants would match or even surpass our Dragonites in potential. Just think about the talent they'd have!"

Rare, high-potential Pokémon eggs—especially Dragon-types—typically start with only 10–15% of their full potential. Natural talent matters, but Ash's Pokémon had something more: battle-tested techniques and adaptability that could be inherited.

Back on the battlefield, floating chunks of stone from Rock Tomb hovered around Steelix, attempting to trap Pikachu. But Pikachu's blinding speed made it impossible. Even though Steelix could predict Pikachu's movements, it simply couldn't keep up—frustration building on its massive, metallic face.

"Cell Activation boosts speed, but it also drains stored electricity, weakening long-range Electric attacks. We'll need to go close-quarters," Ash assessed the situation calmly.

"Pikachu—use Chidori!"

Electricity surged into Pikachu's left paw, condensing into a sharp, crackling arc of lightning. It let out a high-pitched, birdsong-like chirp—just like the Thousand Birds technique.

"What…? Is that Thunder Palm? No… Thunder Palm doesn't make that sound!" Garan was caught off guard. The nature of the attack made it difficult to assess—both in form and power.

With Chidori formed, Pikachu dashed in a straight line toward Steelix, lightning shrieking around it. Chidori was devastating in a head-on strike—but the downside was its noise and predictable path. A skilled opponent could brace or deflect with enough warning.

"A direct strike? Steelix, use Iron Defense!" Garan barked. Steelix braced itself, its steel body glowing as it hardened, relying on its natural defense to absorb the impact.

Though Steelix saw the attack coming, it lacked the speed to dodge. Garan was betting everything on Steelix's iron body to withstand the full force of Pikachu's charge.

BOOM!!

"ROOOAAAR!!!"

Steelix activated Iron Defense just in time, its rock-hard body glinting under the pressure—but then something shocking happened.

The Chidori surging in Pikachu's left paw pierced straight through Steelix's body like it was soft tofu!

The sparking thrust slammed into Steelix's rocky hide, and with a painful roar, the massive Pokémon reeled back—its armored body cracking under the force of the strike. That wasn't just damage—it was a clean breach!

"Steelix!!" Garan called out, stunned. A Steelix trained to the peak of the High-Class tier—brought to its knees by a Pikachu? The crowd was silent for a second, then gasped. No one could believe their eyes.

But Ash wasn't done.

"Pikachu! Aim for the wound with Iron Tail!"

Always one to press the advantage, Ash gave the next command right as Steelix flinched. That moment of pain? It was the perfect opening.

"Pika~! Yaa!!" Pikachu grinned. Its small tail glowed silver with Iron Tail, and in a flash, it struck—right where Chidori had landed moments earlier.

"ROARR!!!" Steelix howled in agony. The impact hit squarely on its injury. For a moment, its massive eyes glinted red from the pain.

"Steelix, don't give up! Use Hyper Beam!" Garan barked, fighting to turn the tide.

Roaring defiantly, Steelix gathered a sphere of orange-red energy in its mouth—the charged form of Hyper Beam—and fired it directly at Pikachu!

Ash's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Perfect timing, Pikachu! Let's test our defense—Chidori Stream!"

As the beam rushed forward, Pikachu remained still, a playful smirk on its face. Sparks danced across its yellow fur, small arcs of lightning flickering around its body.

The buildup wasn't an attack—it was overflow. Chidori Stream was already in motion.

BOOM!!!

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

The Hyper Beam tore toward Pikachu—but stopped short. At a glance, it looked like it had hit dead center—but closer inspection revealed the truth.

The beam halted fifty centimeters from Pikachu's chest. It couldn't push any farther.

Chidori Stream had created a high-speed electrical barrier—a crackling field of electricity that disintegrated the energy on contact, stopping it dead in its tracks.

The attack had been neutralized before it could even reach Pikachu.
