Pokémon: The Renegade Trainer

Chapter 18: Ninja Budew

As the gang boss was focused on the big fat cash in front of him, he couldn't notice the small Bud Pokémon sneaking in.

"Sr. Diego"

"Ah, Bin. I heard the news. May I see the package?"

With a snap of Bin's hand, two masked men brought a little girl with orange hair in a bob cut tied in ropes.

"Fantastic!" Smiled the client who went by the name Sr. Diego, which gained a glare filled with rage and shock from Gardenia.

Because not only was this man supposed to be a loyal member of their clan, he was also her uncle.

"Because of your stupidity, I now hold the fate of the Eterna clan in my palm. Those old stupid fogeys can't deny my talent now! Bajaja!"

He wanted to be gym leader for decades, only for his peers to outshine him in every aspect. Diego turned bitter, obsessed with revenge to those who had more talent than him.

'How stupid and spoiled.' even the boss, Bin wasn't happy with his client's background.

Still, money was money and this man valued kidnapping his niece quite a lot.

"Now, the payment. You promised 10mil Poké in cash."

"Ah yes yes, here you go." A suitcase materialized from the fat man's storage space. This was received by the boss's henchmen.

"This will remain secret, yes?" Smirked Diego.

"Of course. The Bin gang has no contact with the Eterna clan whatsoever."

"Good, good. You better keep it under wraps if you don't want your little gang to get squashed."

Bin rolled his eyes "We've seen a lot of your kind throughout our career. You're not our first costumer."

The fat man shrugged, taking Gardenia before moving along. It didn't take long for Diego to finish up his transaction and leave the hideout.

When his client left the room, Bin noticed something strange.

"Cawww!!" Cried a Murkrow as it went ballistic, startling the other captive Pokémon.

Most of the caged Pokémon went on a rampage as well.

"Gunk!" Croaked a shackled Croagunk.

"Starrrr!!!" A Staravia followed.

"Shut them up!" Ordered an annoyed Bin, which was followed immediately by his henchmen.

"[Sleep powder]!"

"[Hypnosis]!"

Their Pokémon lulled the captives to sleep, it was much more profitable to sell out healthy Pokémon than butchered ones.

Unbeknownst to them, a Budew had used this distraction as a chance to escape.

As planned by Murkrow, none of them noticed Gardenia's Budew sneak out. It had informed Budew earlier about the enemy's plan. Its mission was now to deliver this info to their allies.

As for the guards, it wasn't hard to [Sleep powder] the already drowsy Houndoom. Especially with its sensitive sense of smell, the move worked too well.

'Shinobi Budew!' <( ̄︶ ̄)>

The bud Pokémon thought to itself as it snuck past the enemy camp. It had always admired the Fuschia clan, their ninja outfits and their sneaky style.

Whenever Gardenia would watch her sister's Fuschia gym battle tape, it was always hyped. And Budew was happy that it could play ninja to save its trainer...

Meanwhile...

Rotom returned to Maguro after using [Hydro pump] to extinguish the fires.

"Thanks Rotom."

With a headpat, the now regular plasma Pokémon got its treat of electricity while it's trainer's mood dampened.

"This means that the kidnappers are hiding elsewhere. What is our next course of action?" The blonde trainer asked as her Gabite stood on standby.

"Our best bet is to surveil routes 206 and 207 with the Rangers. There's little chance that we'll find them, but at least we'll have some trails."

Maguro answered Cynthia, and both girls nodded. The evening breeze blew harder as Maguro took a deep breath.

'Murkrow, please stay safe bud. I'm on my way...'

They stood at the side of the cycling bridge when Budew emerged from the nearby foliages. It recognized the brown haired boy almost immediately and approached the group.

Maguro noticed the Pokémon, "Budew?"

"Budew! Budew!!" (I am ninja Budew!) It shook its head in disagreement and exclaimed.

"But you're Gardenia's Pokémon, right?"

It nodded in agreement "--Dew, Budew, Budew!" (Yes, I know where they are, follow me!)

Without hesitation, Maguro gave his orders, "Cynthia, follow me. Iizumi, stay there and inform the rangers when they arrive.

"Budew, lead us to the hideout!"

He ran, ignoring Cynthia when she said, "Y-you can understand Pokémon?! Wait!"

Budew understood its assignment immediately, "Budew!" (Left, then right!)

And after 20 minutes of phasing through the forest, they stood before a small tent camouflaged in the green forest.

"Let's raze this thing to the ground."

"Let's not act rashly." Cynthia stopped Maguro's hand from reaching his belt.

He did as she said, easing up his tense arm while eyeing his surroundings. "Thanks."

After knocking out some night guards and their Pokémon with Rotom, Maguro sneaked in with Cynthia.

"Do you have a plan? You said the boss has an elite Pokémon."

"Yeah. Sneak out with Murkrow and let the rangers raid the place." He replied to Cynthia.

"Tough luck then, because you won't be escaping under my watch."

He clicked his tongue 'I should've gone with Iizumi instead.'

She smirked as Maguro realized that he made a mistake.

'We are even now.' she winked when the boy came to understand what she meant.

Seeing the grunts, the duo had to keep silent as they treaded through the hideout. But that didn't stop Cynthia from shoving her win to Maguro's face.

And although she tried her best to hide it, she was freaked out by Maguro's skill. He was like a trained assassin.

When three grunts were walking near them, he had Rotom immobilize them with [Thunder wave] while he made light work of them with precise chops by their napes to knock the grunts unconscious.

They checked through almost each room, which made Cynthia think that he had some sort of night vision since he seemed to know each room that held nothing in them.

After almost 30 minutes of opening and closing doors, Maguro abruptly stopped at an inconspicuous hallway.

"Why?"

"We've been discovered." He turned his head, "Rotom, [Thunder wave] right there."

"Hehe, you can see me." A man dodged the spark of yellow lightning as he and a Ghastly emerged from the shadows.

Maguro's eyes widened as he recognized the man, "You're--"

But he extended his hand to interrupt the young trainer. "I go by Scout now, and you'll refer to me as such."

"Tsk. No wonder the crazy antics."

"Well, you're lucky I didn't recognize your Murkrow, else things would've gone very differenly." A gleam of murderous crimson was visible from Scout's eye as he smirked.

"[Thunder wave]." Responded Maguro. It was always best to keep calm against foes that actively taunt you after all.

"Hehe! I'll play with you. Ghastly, use [Will-o-wisp]!"

Though these were only status moves, their collision caused quite the ruckus.

Eyeing the gas Pokémon, Maguro noticed that it was different from normal. 'This bastard has a Shiny...'

"Cynthia, go on ahead and rescue the captured Pokémon."

"Nah, not on my watch. Stop the pretty lady, Ursaring!"

The battle turned to a double battle, as a large brown bear with a ring on its belly roared a battle cry attempt to [Slash] Cynthia.

"Gabite, [Brick break]!"

Just on time, Gabite shielded its trainer.

"Hehe, not bad... Not bad at all...

"LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!!" Scout broke out to laughter like a maniac, unbothered by his opponents' disgusted looks.
