"Aggron, use Hyper Beam—target the human behind Zweilous!"
"Yanmega, stop Bellossom! Use Air Slash!"
"Zweilous, retreat immediately!"
The moment Ranka saw both Zweilous and Aggron covered in a watery blue sheen, and heard Sato's commands, his expression changed drastically. He instantly realized what Sato intended and frantically issued countercommands to his Pokémon.
Mega Aggron immediately charged up a massive orange energy sphere in its mouth. Then a huge orange beam—pulsing with terrifying destructive force—blasted toward Thomas.
"Rapidash, use Protect! Seismitoad, counter Aggron's Hyper Beam with Muddy Water!"
Seeing that dreadful Hyper Beam fired in his direction, Thomas's face went pale. He quickly called Rapidash—who knew Protect—back to defend him, and ordered Seismitoad to launch a powerful Water-type move to weaken the beam.
At the critical moment, Rapidash didn't hesitate. Abandoning the fight against Zweilous, it rushed to Thomas's side at high speed and deployed Protect, generating an energy shield to block the incoming blast.
Seismitoad also darted over, taking advantage of its 148 base Speed stat under the rain-boosted Swift Swim Ability. It positioned itself to Thomas's right and used the rainwater on the ground to unleash Muddy Water, clashing with the incoming Hyper Beam.
A second later, Aggron's beam struck.
Thanks to the rain, Muddy Water had increased power. Though Aggron's orange beam eventually pierced through it, its strength was greatly reduced by the time it hit Rapidash's Protect shield.
Moreover, Hyper Beam is a special move, and Mega Aggron's Special Attack isn't high to begin with. With Rapidash giving everything it had, Thomas narrowly survived.
Meanwhile, the Level 49 Yanmega—now with six boosts from Speed Boost—beat its insect wings at blinding speed and turned into a blur as it rushed at Bellossom, who was dancing gracefully through her third Quiver Dance while closing in on Zweilous.
In the blink of an eye, Yanmega appeared directly above her and slashed down with a bladelike Air Slash that stretched seven to eight meters long.
The white energy blade split into countless smaller ones mid-flight, blanketing Bellossom's entire evasion range.
Faced with this imminent threat, Bellossom remained calm and composed.
In fact, thanks to the Swift Swim Ability she had recently acquired, her Speed had doubled.
On top of that, after two successful Quiver Dances, her agility—even if not quite on par with the six-times-boosted Yanmega—was still enough for her to move like a fluttering butterfly and perform maneuvers that would normally be impossible.
Bellossom gracefully danced mid-rain, evading nearly every mini blade in a dazzling display that left Yanmega in disbelief.
By the time she dodged most of the assault, she was less than ten meters away from the retreating Zweilous.
At that moment, an Energy Ball infused with frightening Grass-type energy began forming in her hands. Countless verdant energy leaves also swirled around her body.
Yanmega, seeing its target preparing to attack Zweilous, immediately attempted to intercept.
But just as it turned to chase Bellossom down, it spotted Swampert—now empowered by Swift Swim—rushing at blinding speed toward the defenseless Ranka.
Mega Aggron was still immobilized due to Hyper Beam's recovery time, and Zweilous was in no shape to protect its Trainer.
For a moment, Yanmega hesitated.
But between saving Zweilous and saving Ranka, it didn't hesitate for long. It immediately abandoned the chase after Bellossom and sped toward Ranka.
Swampert's feint had succeeded—Bellossom was now free to act without worry.
She closed in on Zweilous, then launched both her charged Energy Ball and the swirling Magical Leaf barrage straight at him.
Due to Golduck's earlier Soak, Zweilous had temporarily become a Water-type. Now, facing Bellossom—who had completed three Quiver Dances—its instincts screamed danger.
"Raaaargh!!"
Driven by the threat of death, Zweilous roared. Its normally squinted eyes flew wide open and turned bloodshot with rage. It let out a feral cry and erupted with draconic energy.
Zweilous used Outrage, becoming a rampaging dragon as it charged madly at Bellossom.
Though grievously wounded, Zweilous withstood Bellossom's Energy Ball and Magical Leaf onslaught and emerged in front of her.
Unfortunately for it, Bellossom was now far too fast. Even with the power surge from Outrage, Zweilous couldn't keep up.
Bellossom spun gracefully away from the dying charge with elegant ease, then appeared instantly behind it.
From her leafy skirt, she drew two long leaves, infusing them with pure Grass-type energy to form a pair of razor-sharp leaf blades.
In the next moment, her dance shifted from elegance to a flurry of killing intent as a storm of blades followed her every motion.
With her twin leaf swords, Bellossom unleashed Leaf Blade, combined with Swords Dance, carving crisscrossing sword slashes across Zweilous's back in the blink of an eye.
As the waltz of blades ended, Zweilous collapsed in a pool of blood.
Right as Zweilous fell, Yanmega managed to grab Ranka away from Swampert's reach, and Mega Aggron also recovered from Hyper Beam's cooldown.
"Zweilous!!!"
Ranka could only watch helplessly as the Pokémon he'd raised with so much care was felled by Bellossom's dual blades. His anguished scream tore through the rain.
"Yanmega! Get me out of here! Aggron, return—now!"
But Ranka wasn't a fool. He knew the battle was already lost. With no way to save Zweilous, he decisively abandoned it and ordered Yanmega to retreat with him, raising a PokeBall to recall Aggron.
"Trying to run now? Too late! Swampert, block the red recall beam with your body—don't let him withdraw Aggron!"
"Arcanine, use Flame Charge with Extreme Speed! Stop Yanmega!"
"Bellossom, fire an Energy Ball at Aggron!"
Of course, Sato wasn't about to let Ranka off the hook. He swiftly issued new orders to Swampert, Bellossom, and Arcanine—who still had fight left in them.
In the rain, the Swift Swim-boosted Swampert moved like lightning, instantly appearing in front of Aggron to block the red recall beam from Ranka's PokeBall. He entangled Aggron again, preventing its escape.
Meanwhile, Bellossom—now with Swift Swim and triple Quiver Dance boosts—closed in and fired a barrage of Energy Balls like a living turret, targeting the immobilized Aggron.
At the same time, Arcanine used Extreme Speed combined with Flame Charge, cutting off Yanmega and Ranka's retreat path. Ranka had no choice but to dodge and could no longer attempt to recall Aggron.
Aggron, still under the effects of the Truant Ability, had just clashed with Swampert's Hammer Arm using Metal Claw. But almost immediately, the laziness returned, making it sluggish again.
Worse still, Aggron was still under the effect of Soak, temporarily making it a Water-type. Now, facing Bellossom's rapid-fire, Grass-type Energy Balls enhanced by three Quiver Dances, it felt the same mortal fear that Zweilous had felt.
In the next second, Bellossom's barrage slammed into it.
A violent explosion of energy erupted.
With a pained wail, Aggron—scorched black by the powerful blast—collapsed helplessly, reverting from its Mega form back to its regular form.
But Sato wasn't done.
"Swampert, Bellossom—finish it."
Following his cold command, Swampert and Bellossom mercilessly launched another round of attacks on the fallen Aggron.
Before long, the once-unstoppable Aggron was reduced to a lifeless husk.
"SATO! I'LL KILL YOU!!!"
Seeing even his ace Pokémon slain, Ranka's elegant face twisted in fury. Bloodshot eyes full of hatred, he screamed like a mad man-woman at Sato.
But he retained just enough sanity not to charge blindly at him. Instead, he commanded Yanmega to turn and flee with him.
Perhaps due to panic, or simply losing his senses, he fled in the exact direction he had come from.
