"Charmeleon, Slash!"

At the command, Charmeleon immediately accelerated and began charging forward.

Dazzling white light emanated from Charmeleon's claws, gradually enveloping the entire palm of its hand.

With a swift swipe, the sharp claws left three deep gashes on the steel-like target!

The Pewter Gym specializes in Rock-type Pokémon, so Charmeleon would naturally face some challenges.

To counter this, Tyson had spent the mission points he'd accumulated recently to upgrade Charmeleon's Slash move to an advanced level.

Combined with Charmeleon's Dragon Breath, Tyson felt confident that he could handle the upcoming battle in the Pewter Gym.

After all, earning a Gym Badge isn't just about winning the battle. A challenger's performance is also taken into account, and as long as you perform well, the Gym Leader will still award the badge.

The Gym Trainer's job is to assess the challenger's abilities using suitable tactics and the right level of strength.

Using a Fire-type Pokémon against Rock-types may seem like a disadvantage, indicating that Tyson wasn't completely familiar with the Pewter Gym. But if he performed exceptionally, this could work in his favor—turning a disadvantage into a strength.

"Alright, Charmeleon, that's enough practice for today."

"Tomorrow we have a Gym battle, so you and Eevee need to be at your best."

Tyson decided to stop Charmeleon's relentless training. He handed Charmeleon an energy cube to recover its strength, then began massaging the Pokémon to ease its fatigue.

Hearing the sounds, Eevee sluggishly stood up.

Although Eevee looked lazy, it had been training just as hard. However, Eevee wasn't as resilient as Charmeleon, who was at the Advanced Level.

"Come on, let's go to bed now."

Tyson gently picked up the tired Eevee, speaking with affection.

Abra didn't need any encouragement; the Psychic-type Pokémon had already fallen asleep in its Poké Ball.

Once back in his room, Tyson double-checked to ensure that no one had entered, then placed his backpack next to his pillow.

Even in a Pokémon Center, Tyson didn't let his guard down, especially with his backpack, which contained all of his precious resources.

"Let's go, it's time for the Pewter Gym. I hope we get called up soon."

After waking from his nap, Tyson patted Eevee on the back to nudge it awake.

After a quick rest, Tyson took both Charmeleon and Eevee outside the Gym.

With his reservation details already in hand, Tyson entered the waiting room and waited for the staff to call him for his Gym battle.

Tyson didn't waste the time. He took out his communicator to review the knowledge that the shadow had shared with him.

When it came to strength, Tyson could rely on mission points to boost his Pokémon's abilities, but when it came to knowledge, that depended entirely on his own efforts.

Lost in the sea of knowledge, Tyson lost track of time as the number of challengers waiting ahead of him gradually dwindled.

"Hello, please come with me."

At the staff's call, Tyson snapped out of his thoughts.

"Alright, thank you."

He tucked away his communicator and followed the staff to the battlefield. Brock, the Gym Leader of the Pewter Gym, was already standing across from him, ready for battle.

Being a Gym Trainer is no small feat. Once in that position, you have the authority to help manage the Gym and even recruit apprentices, creating your own influence.

Additionally, Gym Trainers can pass their position to successors, provided they pass an assessment. In fact, this inheritance process is often simpler than starting from scratch, especially if the Gym Trainer has solid connections.

Brock responsibility was to provide a fair challenge while helping to nurture new trainers, but Tyson had a hard time respecting him. His story of abandoning his family and Gym for personal dreams left Tyson with a sense of disdain.

"Both trainers, please release your Pokémon."

The battle began with an announcement. The format was a two-on-two match, and both trainers would only be allowed one change of Pokémon during the battle. The first side to lose all their Pokémon would be considered defeated.

"Geodude, you're up first!"

With that, Wu Neng released his Rock-type Pokémon, the small but mighty Geodude, onto the battlefield.

Tyson's trainer profile had already been registered, so Brock had chosen a Pokémon of comparable strength to offer a fair fight and give Tyson an opportunity to showcase his skills.

Despite their similarities in appearance, Tyson and Brock were quite different—Brock seemed older, and Tyson felt no connection to him. Brock's story of leaving his family to chase his own dreams had not earned Tyson's respect.

"Let's go, Eevee, use Quick Attack!"

Without hesitation, Tyson launched the first move. In a Gym battle, the challenger can often take the initiative if they act first.

Eevee launched a flurry of Quick Attacks, its speed overwhelming the Geodude.

Geodude, despite its strong defense, couldn't evade the attack. Its special defense was weak, and it was quickly overwhelmed.

"Quick Attack is mastered well, but we're not going down so easily. Geodude, use Rock Throw!"

Brock quickly retaliated, commanding Geodude to hurl rocks at Eevee, attempting to turn the tide.

Though Geodude's defense was high, its offensive moves weren't enough to match the agility of Eevee's Quick Attack. Still, Brock's battle instincts showed through as he prepared for the next stage of the fight.

"Geodude, roll and gather momentum!"

Geodude curled into a ball and started rolling, gaining momentum for a powerful attack.

"Quickly, Eevee, use Thunderbolt to break through!" Tyson commanded.

Eevee charged forward, ready to interrupt Geodude's power-up.

Brock recognized the danger and called for Geodude to dodge, but Tyson was ready with his next move.

"That's enough, Eevee! Now, use Yawn and then follow up with another Quick Attack!"

The battle was just getting started, and Tyson was fully engaged, ready to make the most of every opportunity.
