Hidden quietly among the tree canopy, Tyson and Eevee blended seamlessly with the surrounding foliage, remaining completely still.
It wasn't long before someone emerged from the forest, heading in the same direction Tyson had taken moments earlier.
The instant he caught sight of the figure, Tyson recognized him—it was none other than Adu, the Pokémon hunter whom Ranger was tracking. Without hesitation, Tyson swiftly composed a message and sent it to Ranger.
As Adu drew closer, Tyson had no intention of merely watching him pass by. Instead, he prepared to engage.
Walking cautiously along the path, Adu couldn't shake the sense that something was amiss. He'd noticed traces of someone traveling through this area—likely a trainer—but those tracks suddenly disappeared near this spot. There were only two possibilities for such a scenario.
One, the person had called upon a Flying-type or Psychic-type Pokémon to leave the area, or two, they were hiding nearby.
"Scyther, use Swift on the surrounding canopies!" Adu ordered.
Responding instantly, Scyther unleashed a barrage of glowing star-like projectiles that shot through the tree canopy.
"Impressive—this level of caution deserves credit," Tyson muttered, smirking. "Eevee, use Yawn followed by Helping Hand. Charmeleon, target Scyther with a Flamethrower!"
Tyson admired Adu's sharp instincts but stuck to his plan. At the same time, he tightened his grip on Abra's Poké Ball, ready to retreat using Teleport if the battle turned against him.
As Eevee's Yawn took effect, Scyther's movements visibly slowed, and the relentless glow of Swift began to waver. Taking advantage of the situation, Charmeleon unleashed a searing column of flames that struck Scyther squarely in the chest. The intense heat forced a pained screech from the Bug-type Pokémon.
Still, Charmeleon wasn't done. Knowing they were up against two Advanced-level Pokémon, Tyson aimed to turn the tide by eliminating one opponent as quickly as possible.
"Ursaring, charge in with Slash and engage the Charmeleon!" Adu commanded. "Scyther, endure and counter with Quick Attack and Fury Cutter on Eevee!"
Reacting to Scyther's cries, Adu adjusted his tactics, trying to split Tyson's focus. Ursaring roared and rushed forward, radiating an intimidating aura. But Charmeleon, undeterred, released a series of precise Ember blasts to disrupt Scyther's movements.
Scyther's luck worsened when it became inflicted with a burn—a debilitating condition that sapped its strength and weakened its physical attacks. Tyson seized the opportunity.
"Charmeleon, switch to Dragon Breath!"
A surge of green energy erupted from Charmeleon, slamming into Scyther and leaving it paralyzed. Scyther, now completely immobilized, was hit by yet another Flamethrower. Unable to continue, it let out a final, defeated cry before collapsing.
"Ursaring, shake it off and attack Eevee with Slash!" Adu barked, desperation creeping into his voice.
Despite Adu's commands, Ursaring was visibly struggling as Yawn began to take effect. Eevee darted around with remarkable agility, executing its moves flawlessly. But just as Ursaring's claws were about to strike, Abra intervened, using Teleport to move Eevee to safety.
The tables turned dramatically when Abra used its psychic abilities to swap positions between Adu and Ursaring. Before Adu could react, Eevee struck him directly with a Quick Attack, sending the hunter tumbling backward into unconsciousness.
Seeing its trainer fall, Ursaring roared with rage and charged at Eevee recklessly.
"Charmeleon, continuous Flamethrower! Eevee, use Agility and Quick Attack to distract it!" Tyson ordered.
Enraged and burning with adrenaline, Ursaring's speed spiked due to its Guts ability. For a moment, it seemed unstoppable. But as it launched another attack, Eevee deftly dodged, keeping just out of reach. Meanwhile, the burn sapped Ursaring's energy further, leaving it vulnerable.
"Eevee, another Yawn followed by Helping Hand! Charmeleon, finish it with one final Flamethrower!"
Eevee's Yawn slowed Ursaring down just enough for Charmeleon to unleash a colossal stream of flames, knocking Ursaring off its feet. As it crashed to the ground, the Normal-type lost its ability to fight, succumbing to unconsciousness.
Tyson let out a sigh of relief, but before he could fully relax, Ranger appeared from the forest.
"You know," Tyson quipped, "it's like watching a movie where the police always arrive after the action is over."
