Chapter 390: Chapter 72: Dragon of Lightning

"Pika!" Pikachu nodded with determination, summoning its remaining electric energy.

The surrounding atmosphere seemed to bend toward it, crackling with power as brilliant lightning illuminated the night sky. The clash between the gods above was fierce, but Pikachu refused to back down.

---

On Shamouti Island, panic engulfed the residents. Nearly everyone had gathered along the coast, their attention fixed on the chaos unfolding across the archipelago.

Some observers peered through telescopes, their anxiety mounting with every passing moment.

"They've stopped!" a few villagers cheered as the Three Legendary Birds momentarily ceased their assault.

But their relief was short-lived. The gods quickly turned their attention toward Lightning Island, where two figures on the back of a Charizard flew closer to the fray.

"Who are they? Are they with the ones who angered the gods?" villagers shouted in confusion and fear, recalling the spacecraft's earlier invasion.

"No… it's not them," a tourist muttered, squinting through his binoculars.

"It's two kids… and one of them has a Pikachu that's fighting back!"

---

The collision between Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Zapdos's attack created a dazzling explosion of energy, leaving the villagers stunned.

"That Pikachu… It's actually holding its ground against Zapdos!" someone exclaimed in awe.

"That girl… and that Pikachu…" Carol murmured, standing on the shore beside Maren and the elder.

"Could they be… the Chosen Ones?"

The village elder, a solemn expression on his face, slowly shook his head.

"This is not a battle of destiny but one of desperation," he said grimly.

"The gods of fire, ice, and thunder are sacred. Violating their sanctity can only bring disaster."

His words carried the weight of generations of prophecy, and for the first time, he fully understood the truth of the ancient legends passed down by his ancestors.

---

Meanwhile, daring media crews, sensing a historic moment, launched helicopters to capture the events up close. What had started as coverage of a festival now transformed into the documentation of a disaster that captivated the world's attention.

The Orange Islands had become the epicenter of a conflict that threatened to spiral out of control.

---

Back in the skies, Pikachu barely managed to block Zapdos's attack.

Before it could recover, Moltres and Articuno joined the fray, unleashing their own fiery and icy blasts toward Charizard, who continued to soar toward Lightning Island.

Suddenly, the night sky was illuminated by a massive bolt of lightning, and from the clouds emerged a colossal thunder dragon formed entirely of crackling electricity.

Its immense body wove through the stormy skies, its presence dominating the battlefield. Its head, equipped with two mouths, turned toward the Three Legendary Birds.

The smaller mouth opened, drawing in energy from the atmosphere before releasing a devastating bolt of lightning toward the oncoming attacks from Moltres and Articuno.

"Boom!"

The collision halted for a moment, the opposing forces locked in place. Then, with a deafening roar, the energies imploded, releasing a shockwave so powerful that the frozen sea below shattered into enormous chunks.

---

On the water, Misty and Tracey struggled to maintain their balance on Gyarados as the shockwave rippled across the surface. The massive serpent Pokémon steadied itself just in time to prevent them from being thrown into the sea.

"Hold on, Gyarados!" Misty shouted, her voice barely audible over the roaring wind and waves.

---

The thunder dragon, undeterred, summoned three enormous thunderballs and launched them toward the Legendary Birds. The raw power of the attack distorted the very air, leaving trails of crackling energy in its wake.

The Three Birds, unwilling to back down, combined their might once again. Zapdos unleashed a massive Thunder, Moltres countered with a searing Fire Blast, and Articuno conjured a devastating Blizzard.

The opposing forces collided in a cataclysmic explosion, the resulting shockwave rocking the entire Orange Archipelago. The sea churned violently as though nature itself were rebelling against the gods' fury.

---

On Shamouti Island, the waves grew to towering heights, crashing against the shores and flooding parts of the village.

"Get to higher ground immediately!" the elder commanded, his voice urgent. Villagers scrambled for safety, some climbing trees or rooftops to escape the surging waters.

Though many trainers and their Pokémon worked tirelessly to rescue those caught in the flood, the devastation was undeniable.

---

Above, the thunder dragon's energy began to wane. The lightning composing its immense body flickered, and it seemed on the verge of vanishing.

Yet the Three Birds, despite their exhaustion, remained relentless. Turning their combined fury toward Charizard, they launched a synchronized assault.

---

"Pikachu, can you fight back?" Ash asked urgently, sensing the danger.

"P-Pika…" Pikachu, drained from the previous encounters, struggled to respond. It was clear it could no longer continue. The combined attacks from the Three Birds surged toward them, now only 380 meters away.

Sensing the imminent threat, Charizard came to a sudden halt, turning mid-air to face the attack head-on. Ash's eyes narrowed. This was their only chance.

"Golden Flame Cannon!" Ash commanded.

With Pikachu unable to fight, Charizard became their last line of defense.

---

Charizard roared, its body igniting with a golden flame so bright it turned night into day. It gathered the flames into a massive fireball, the heat so intense that even those on Shamouti Island could feel its warmth.

The fireball grew, its surface flickering with radiant light, before taking the form of a dragon-like phoenix.

With a thunderous roar, the flaming phoenix launched three parallel beams of fire toward the incoming attacks.

"Boom!"

The resulting explosion shook the Skys, the shockwave rippling across the archipelago. Shamouti Island's shores were once again flooded as waves crashed violently against the coastline.

---

Exhausted from the effort, Charizard faltered, its wings struggling to keep it aloft. The Pokémon began to descend toward Lightning Island, its strength nearly spent.

Ash held tightly onto Pikachu with one arm while using his other to steady Melody, ensuring they remained safe. As the world held its breath, the boy, the dragon, and their allies descended toward the battleground where destiny awaited them.
