Pokémon: My Mom Is A Gardevoir

Chapter 147: Chapter 147 ⇾ Home? Where Has My Big Family Gone?

"We won, so we should get a discount, right?" Cole asked, looking toward the waitress who had been observing them.

"Of course." The young lady replied promptly, "Please come with me to check out now, you've earned a 20% discount."

"Yay!" Cole happily prepared to leave with Pidove, following the waitress.

"Wait!" At that moment, Carson suddenly called out to him, "Even though I lost, could you tell me your name?"

Cole smiled and waved, "Of course, my name is Cole!"

"Cole... Cole..." Carson repeated the name to himself, then suddenly shouted at his retreating figure, "I'll definitely defeat you someday!"

By now Cole had returned to the store. Daisy, who had been waiting on a bench inside, immediately came forward.

"Garde~ Garde~" — How did it go? Did you win?

Cole gave her an OK hand gesture, and Pidove, imitating its trainer, also made an awkward attempt at the same pose with its wings.

"Gardevoir~" — That's my baby!

Daisy followed suit, making the same gesture.

The Sharp Beak and Scope Lens together cost P$120,000, and with the 20% discount, Cole would pay P$96,000, saving P$24,000.

"Alright, customer, after the discount, that'll be P$96,000. Here are your items and receipt. Would you like me to help put the items on your Pokémon? The Sharp Beak can be a bit tricky to attach."

"Is that okay?" Cole nodded, "Then I'll trouble you, miss."

After speaking, he beckoned to Pidove, who immediately fluttered its wings and landed on the counter with a series of coos.

"It's no trouble at all." The young lady smiled as she took the Sharp Beak out of its packaging, adjusted its size, and began fitting it onto Pidove's beak while explaining the installation process to Cole.

The material used to make the Sharp Beak was a special malleable biometal that could be adjusted according to the size of a bird Pokémon's beak.

Bird Pokémon wouldn't feel uncomfortable wearing it because the material conformed perfectly to their body parts. They would barely feel its presence, and it wouldn't affect their daily life.

However, the Sharp Beak needed to be regularly removed for maintenance and cleaning, which would require the trainer's intervention.

The young lady explained everything in detail and with patience, answering all of Cole's questions — truly a kind-hearted beauty.

"All done." The young lady said, patting her hands after fitting the Sharp Beak on Pidove, "Pidove, check if anything feels uncomfortable. If so, I can adjust it for you now."

"Coo Coo Coo~~"

Pidove opened its beak and called out a couple times, finding it no different than usual, so it made an OK gesture just as it had learned moments ago.

The young lady laughed at this and said, returning the OK gesture, "That's good."

What a fun lady.

The Scope Lens was much simpler to put on, similar to regular glasses, though it needed special securing due to the bird Pokémon's physique.

After helping Pidove put on the Scope Lens, the young lady took out a small mirror and placed it in front of it, "Here, Pidove, see if it works for you."

Pidove tilted its head at the mirror, then turned its body to admire itself.

Not bad, not bad!

It nodded in satisfaction.

Seeing Pidove was satisfied, the young lady smiled and said, "Since there's no problem, we're all set."

As she escorted Cole and company to the door, the young lady waved.

"Welcome back anytime!"

At this point, Carson peeked out from behind the young lady, watching Cole's retreating figure with a dejected expression and asked, "Miss, am I just too stupid?"

The young lady didn't comfort him; instead, she smiled and said, "The world of Pokémon trainers is deep, young man! If you remain arrogant and conceited, you'll never succeed!"

Leaving the Pokémon store, Cole recalled the jubilant Pidove and, accompanied by Daisy and the Dunsparce brother, followed the map's directions to their destination.

According to the map, Dunsparce's homeland was some distance from Turffield, so Cole rented a Galar Taxi in town and directed the Corviknight driver to fly them directly there.

Corviknight flew both swiftly and steadily.

After carrying the group over farmland, across grasslands, and through a forest, a towering mountain peak finally appeared in Cole's view.

The mountain looked imposingly tall even from a distance, with snow covering its peak. According to Milo, it was a place frequently visited by trainers and adventurers, home to numerous and diverse Pokémon.

The Cottonee and Whimsicott tribe that Cole was looking for lived on the grasslands at the foot of the mountain.

Upon seeing the mountain, Dunsparce called out excitedly.

Cole smiled and asked, "Are you sure this is the place?"

Dunsparce nodded repeatedly, as certain as could be.

So Cole called out, "Alright then, Corviknight, please head full speed toward that mountain!"

"Caw!!!"

Corviknight responded with a cry, flapped its wings powerfully, and after accelerating, carried them toward the mountain.

"Skar~ Skar~ Skar~"

Just as Cole's group was about to reach the mountain, a series of sharp cries erupted nearby. Several Skarmory suddenly appeared, fiercely attacking the Corviknight carrying them.

"Not good!" Cole exclaimed in alarm.

Skarmory and Corviknight were natural enemies!

"Skar~ Skar~"

Two Skarmory appeared on either side of Corviknight and slashed at it with their talons.

Seeing this, Dunsparce couldn't help but remember being dropped into the river by Corviknight, and began trembling uncontrollably.

Because Corviknight was holding the cab, its movements weren't nearly as agile as the Skarmory's. Just as it was about to be hit, Daisy released a column of fire from each hand, precisely striking the two Skarmory.

"Skar~"

"Skar~"

As Steel-type Pokémon, Skarmory had extremely low resistance to Fire-type moves. Hit by Daisy's magical flames, the two fell from the sky one after another.

This scene enraged the other Skarmory. They screeched intimidatingly while frantically beating their wings, creating gales to blow Cole's group out of the sky.

Creak~ Creak~ Creak~

Under the Skarmory's assault, the cab swayed precariously. Corviknight was trying its best to maintain stability, but its efforts were severely limited.

Finally, the cab shattered with a loud bang under the cutting force of Air Slash, breaking into pieces. Cole, Daisy, and Dunsparce plummeted toward the ground.

If they hit the ground like this, they'd surely be crushed to a pulp.

Only Corviknight remained above, entangled with several Skarmory. It was in a state of frantic panic, worried about Cole's group's safety while fending off the attacks.

But to the Skarmory's surprise, as the passengers were falling, they abruptly vanished in mid-air and reappeared safely on the ground a second later.

Cole and Daisy had used Teleport simultaneously, with Dunsparce being carried down by Daisy.

It was already quite difficult for Cole to teleport himself safely down, and if he had tried to bring the little one along, it would have been beyond his capabilities.

Having just used Teleport, his mental energy was severely depleted, leaving him momentarily pale-faced.

Seeing that Cole's group had landed safely, Corviknight no longer had any concerns. Suddenly, a giant black face appeared from its body, frightening all the Skarmory that had been surrounding it into backing away. Corviknight seized this opportunity to dive down and land beside the group.

Cole said to it, "Corviknight, we've reached our destination. You should head back to Turffield first. We'll compensate for the damaged cab later."

Corviknight looked hesitant, pointing with its wing at the Skarmory still circling in the air, expressing concern that Cole's group might be attacked by them.

Cole reassured it, "Don't worry, those Skarmory can't do anything to us!"

Daisy nodded in agreement, her eyes emitting an intense purple light. Corviknight immediately felt a powerful pressure bearing down on it.

"Don't worry, you go back first. We can handle this."

Only then did Corviknight feel at ease. It nodded gently, flapped its wings, and took flight, speeding away toward Turffield.

Several Skarmory initially wanted to chase after it, but seeing it quickly fly beyond the boundaries of their territory, they returned to circle above Cole's head, screeching irritatingly.

Being stared at like this not only frightened Dunsparce into trembling, but also annoyed Daisy immensely.

So she casually drew a ring of fire in the air, and in the next second, a fiery dragon roared out from within the circle, lunging at the Skarmory with bared teeth and claws. The Skarmory were immediately scared off, scattering in all directions, no longer daring to chirp around them.

"Alright, Dunsparce, do you remember which direction your home is on this mountain?" Cole asked Dunsparce once the threat had disappeared.

Hearing this, Dunsparce looked left and right, momentarily disoriented.

As a Pokémon that lived underground, it wasn't familiar with anywhere except the area around its home. If Corviknight hadn't suddenly grabbed it, it might never have left its home vicinity in its entire life.

This question really stumped it.

Seeing its miserable expression, Cole shook his head helplessly — this Pokémon really didn't know anything when asked.

Just then, a chubby Greedent happened to pass by, eyeing their group with its round little eyes, showing no sign of fear.

Cole waved to the Greedent and said, "Could I ask you for a favor?"

The Greedent tilted its head, looking at him with an adorable expression, as if to say "I don't understand what you're saying".

Cole smiled helplessly, took out a berry from his spatial backpack, and gently shook it.

"If you're willing to help, this berry is yours."

The Greedent stared intently at the berry, its little ears twitching rapidly, almost drooling, but still maintaining its previous expression without moving.

Cole then took out another berry. This time, not only were the Greedent's ears twitching, but its fluffy large tail also began to swing uncontrollably. Yet it still managed to resist the urge to come forward.

Living up to its name "Greedent", derived from "greedy", Cole directly grabbed a handful of berries from his backpack and held them in his palm, "How about now? Help me with one thing, and they're all yours."

With a whoosh, the Greedent vanished from its spot in the blink of an eye, appearing next to his hand the next second, grabbing berries and stuffing them into its mouth while casually asking:

"Greed~ Greed~" — So, what do you need help with? I won't do anything too difficult!

"I just want to know where the meadow is where Cottonee and Whimsicott live around here?"

The Greedent stopped eating berries and looked at Cole in surprise, its cheeks bulging with fruit pulp.

"You want to go there?"

Cole nodded, "Yes, can you guide us there?"

The Greedent hesitated for a moment but still nodded gently, "Since your berries taste so good, I'll guide you. But I'm only responsible for taking you there, nothing else!"

Cole quickly nodded, "That's enough."

But in his heart, he began to wonder: what had happened in the south?

The Greedent nodded, quickly stuffing the remaining two berries from Cole's hand into its mouth. Chewing while speaking, it said, "Follow me!"

Then it darted off.

"Let's follow it."

Cole said to Daisy and Dunsparce. Perhaps because it was about to return home, Dunsparce looked very excited.

Following the Greedent, they waded through a rocky slope, passed a lake, and then the Greedent stopped in front of a bamboo forest.

"Greed~" — We're here.

Cole: (•‿• υ)

He was confused. Wasn't this supposed to be a meadow? This was clearly a bamboo forest.

So he voiced his confusion.

"Greed~" — This used to be a meadow, but not anymore.

The Greedent replied.

Sure enough, Cole's earlier premonition was confirmed. No wonder the Greedent's attitude had seemed a bit strange earlier.

He wanted to ask why the meadow had turned into a bamboo forest, but the Greedent scurried away.

"Greed~~~" — I have to go now, or there'll be trouble if I stay too long.

Dunsparce was equally stunned. It remembered that this was indeed once a beautiful meadow where its friend Whimsicott lived. How had it turned into a bamboo forest?

Where was the meadow? Where were the Cottonee? Where were the Whimsicott?

Just as Cole's group was at a loss, a voice suddenly came from behind them.

"Darling son, is that you?"

Cole looked back to see two holes in the ground behind them, each with a Dunsparce's head sticking out, tearfully looking at the Dunsparce beside him.

Only these two Dunsparces' heads seemed much larger than the one beside Cole!

"Dad, Mom!"

Upon seeing these two Dunsparces, the one beside Cole exclaimed, then zoomed over in a flash. The three Dunsparces immediately nuzzled together excitedly.
