Chapter 105: Chapter 105
Early in the morning.
After Leaf finished making breakfast and was about to head to Citrus Island to pick up Serena and Dawn, a phone call came in.
It was Dawn.
She had just received a message:
The Kanto League had reacted and already sealed off Cinnabar Island, forbidding any unofficial personnel from entering or exiting.
Whether it was a first-level or second-level Mythical Pokémon, their appearance was a top priority in any region. All other matters were to be put aside to deal with it with full force.
This time, the Kanto League was even working with nearby leagues.
Grandma Ivy had received a call from the Kanto League early that morning—informing her that the border between the Orange Archipelago and the Kanto region would also be sealed.
Grandma Ivy didn't raise any objections and directly agreed.
This was the consensus among all leagues:
If Mythical Pokémon truly began to battle, it would be nothing short of a catastrophe.
Only by sealing off the area and dispatching all Elite-level and higher trainers to patrol and locate the Mythical Pokémon could they evacuate the public in time and minimize losses.
It was said that by noon, the sea route between the Orange Archipelago and the Kanto region would be completely shut down.
This would make it quite troublesome for Leaf and the others to travel to other towns in Kanto.
However, Leaf had just caught a Charmander and wanted to train it properly to gain experience, so he didn't mind.
Charmander, being a Fire-type Pokémon, would benefit more from training in the Orange Archipelago than at Cinnabar Cave.
Even though the area was surrounded by the sea, there were still many Grass-type and Bug-type Pokémon across the smaller islands—perfect matchups for Charmander's abilities.
Given its energetic nature, Charmander could probably level up several times a day.
After breakfast, Leaf realized he hadn't trained the three dumb birds and the fish and shrimp for quite a while.
Since there were no travel plans today, he decided to use the time for a full-scale special training session.
The Mythical Pokémon were thrilled at first when they heard Leaf wouldn't be going to Kanto anytime soon—
But the moment they heard the word "training," their expressions dropped instantly.
They were caught between joy and despair—miserable, in short.
Still, the Mythical Pokémon didn't dare defy Leaf's orders.
He had been gone for two days training in Kanto, and they had enjoyed a break during that time.
But Leaf had already complained that they hadn't trained even once in his absence.
Now, even if it was just for show, they had to put in some effort.
---
"Hurry up!"
"First stage of training begins immediately."
"Everyone in position—lift your legs!"
Charmander, still hiccuping after its hearty meal, was stunned.
It watched in disbelief as the three legendary birds, Groudon, and Kyogre all slowly lifted their right legs under Leaf's orders.
Charmander almost choked on its food from shock.
"Awoo-awoo-awoo—"
"Hahaha! That's too funny, way too funny!"
"What are you all doing?!"
Its laughter immediately irritated the Mythical Pokémon.
"What are you laughing at? You think every Pokémon can do this training?"
"Laugh it up while you can, brat. Let's see if you're still laughing once you try it yourself!"
"Hmph! Ignorant!"
"Forget it. Let's focus or we'll lose balance!"
"Move it, move it! Get out of the way, kid!"
---
Mocked by five Mythical Pokémon, Charmander's temper flared.
It dashed to Leaf's side, baring its teeth and looking fired up.
"You want to train too?" Leaf was surprised.
"No, you're still too young. Don't let them get to you—I'm doing this for your own good."
"Roar roar—!"
Ignoring Leaf's advice, Charmander stood beside Groudon and instantly lifted its leg, mimicking the flamingo pose of the Mythical Pokémon.
"Hehe, idiot," the Mythical Pokémon sneered.
"Just a few taunts and it fell for it. This Charmander's not going far."
"Impulsiveness ruins potential. Its temperament needs serious work."
"With that temper and brains, it's lucky Master caught it. Out in the wild, it would've been crushed."
"Bet it lasts a minute tops."
"No way. Thirty seconds."
"Twenty."
But suddenly, Charmander's knee wobbled—it felt a pressure of gravity pressing down.
Yet just as quickly as it came, the pressure vanished.
Before Charmander could falter, the weight disappeared.
---
Five minutes passed.
The Mythical Pokémon stared wide-eyed.
"How... how is this possible?"
"It's been five minutes, and it's still holding the pose?"
"Illusion! It has to be an illusion!"
"Is Master helping it? Otherwise, I refuse to believe this!"
"He must've lowered the difficulty just for Charmander!"
"Don't talk nonsense!" Leaf scolded.
Even he was surprised at Charmander's endurance.
The training was part of a system-generated regimen.
While other Pokémon could technically join in, the training was specifically calibrated for the three birds, Groudon, Kyogre, and now Ralts.
If stronger Pokémon like Lapras or Metagross joined, the difficulty would ramp up sharply.
So how was Charmander managing?
Was it possible that the weaker you are, the easier the training?
That would explain it.
---
"Roar—"
Still in the flamingo stance, Charmander glanced smugly at the Mythical Pokémon:
"Trash."
"You guys made it sound so hard, but this is no sweat."
"Not just an hour—I could keep this up all day. Of course, little Ralts, you're a gentle girl, so it's okay if you can't hold on long."
Mocking the Mythical Pokémon while praising Ralts, Charmander's words struck a nerve.
Ralts had also joined training this time, but her difficulty level was clearly much higher despite being weaker than the others.
Leaf was baffled—
Why did the system treat Charmander differently than Ralts?
The answer was simple.
Charmander's current level was too low—
As a base-stage Pokémon, it couldn't absorb elemental laws at all.
The system instantly excluded it from actual training calculations.
In short: Charmander was just posing.
No gravity, no law pressure—just stretching.
---
? Ding-dong—
? First stage complete. Reward: 1000 points.
But the points didn't increase!
Originally, the first stage gave 100 points.
When Ralts joined, it jumped to 1000.
But now, with Charmander? No change.
Clearly, the system hadn't even factored it in.
---
The second training session began.
The Mythical Pokémon exchanged looks, and started baiting:
"Come on, weren't you so brave just now?"
"Join us for round two, if you dare!"
"You're red, I'm red too. If you chicken out now, you're my grandson!"
Grandson?! Doesn't that make my dad your son?
Charmander, though still new to all this, grit its teeth and stepped into the waterfall.
"Foolish. This time it's done for."
"These are Water-type laws—no joke. Even I, god of the sea, almost couldn't breathe the first time."
"We'll have to save it when it's drowning."
"Only because Master's watching. Otherwise, I'd crush it myself."
But then—
"WHAT?!"
"It's... still standing?!"
"No way. Illusion! It HAS to be!"
While they debated whether to save it, Charmander only looked mildly uncomfortable at the start—
Then stood tall again, even smirking.
---
"Raru raru—"
"Big Brother Charmander is so amazing!"
"I want to be just like Big Brother Charmander!"
Ralts's admiration hit the Mythical Pokémon's last nerve.
