Pokemon: I am Gary

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Vacation at Uncle Giovanni's Villa

Seafoom Beach, an hour's drive from Pallet Town, is the favorite seaside resort for the townspeople.

With sunshine, sandy beaches, and bikini-clad beauties, calling it a tropical paradise is no exaggeration.

Originally planning to train hard, Ash received a commission from Professor Oak and came to Seafoom to find Professor Westwood V.

Yes, that's the one who relied on free online resources and imagination to secure a large amount of league funding for the Pokédex!

Wherever there are kids, Team Rocket's trio naturally follows closely behind.

However, as soon as the three arrived at Seafoom, they were attracted by the communicator in their pockets.

"Meow! The Green executive are nearby!" Meowth exclaimed in surprise.

"Should we go greet them first?" James suggested.

"Yeah, sounds good." Jessie nodded in agreement.

The trio immediately scampered off towards the signal...

An umbrella was set up on the third-floor terrace. Gary lay on a beach chair in shorts, facing Uncle Giovanni.

The two men lounged on sunbeds with sunglasses, enjoying the sunbathing.

"Sigh~ Only the sunshine of Seafoom can soothe my heart after the destruction of our headquarters," Uncle Giovanni said with a melancholic tone.

"Sigh~ Only the sunshine of Seafoom can ease my disappointment from being stood up~" Gary mimicked him.

Time rewinds three days earlier.

After dealing with Articuno, Gary didn't choose to capture it but instead returned to Lorelei's house immediately.

It wasn't that he couldn't capture Articuno; it was just that the Ice King was more cost-effective—

Seeing Gary return in disarray, Lorelei looked at him with gentle eyes and hugged him warmly.

"Sister Lorelei~" Gary awkwardly patted Lorelei's back.

"Don't speak… Just let me hold you for a moment," Lorelei said softly, resting her head on Gary's shoulder.

A feeling akin to having lost and then regained something lingered in Lorelei's heart.

It was hard to describe; it was like… ten thousand years are too long; we only seize the day.

Only after losing do people learn to cherish what they have.

Gary faced the back of Articuno alone, which felt like a stone creating ripples in the Ice King's originally calm heart.

Feeling the soft body in his arms, warmth spread through Gary's heart as well.

Just as the atmosphere became increasingly tender, Lorelei's phone rang...

Proton, one of Team Rocket's generals, appeared at Silver Mountain! The league needed Lorelei to set off immediately.

Lorelei hesitated and looked at Gary; given how things were developing, it was highly likely she would be called into action tonight!

However, her position as an Elite Four member made it hard for Lorelei to ignore...

In the end, Gary smiled and said, "Go ahead; work is important."

Lorelei gritted her teeth and took out her league-specific Pidgeot before preparing to leave.

"Um, Gary brother, here's the house key; you can come anytime you want!"

After tossing him the key, Lorelei turned and left.

Lance, huh~ I'll make sure to peel you alive today!

Gary turned around and took out his notebook. "Proton obstructs my progress—note this down!"

With Lorelei gone, Gary certainly didn't want to linger either. He went straight to the port that day.

He casually boarded the last boat and ended up at Seafoom...

Finding Uncle Giovanni's villa based on memory, Gary didn't treat himself as an outsider. After showing Uncle Giovanni's badge, he boldly moved in...

...

Time returns to now—

Looking at Gary lounging like a lazy fish on the beach chair, Uncle Giovanni couldn't help but smirk. "Didn't I remember you were supposed to participate in the Indigo League? Are you just going to slack off here instead of training?"

Gary shot a resentful glance at Giovanni. "Don't worry Uncle; I've trained really hard while I've been here. Plus, I'm just taking one day off. I already have my next training location planned out!"

"That's good~" Giovanni relaxed back into his beach chair. "Strength is what matters most; money, women, power—all must be built upon strength."

"Alright, alright; let's just enjoy some sun without preaching. By the way, I want some juice," Gary pouted.

Giovanni glanced at Gary and smiled indulgently. "Got it~"

Picking up the phone, Giovanni asked, "Are there any active members near the villa?"

On the other end of the line, Jinri broke out in a cold sweat. "Um... The location shows that Green executive's direct team—Jessie, James, and Meowth—are at the front gate…"

"Uh…" Uncle Giovanni felt a bit nauseated himself. "Forget it; let them in."

As Gary was petting Arcanine beside him, he spotted the troublesome trio…

"Boss! Executive!" The trio bowed respectfully.

Gary covered his face. "What are you three doing here..."

"Report! Boss! Executive! We have our sights set on Professor Westwood V next door. As he is a writer for the Pokédex, he must have some very rare Pokémon. We plan to pull off a big score and bring back gifts for both of you…" Jessie rubbed her hands together as she spoke.

Uncle Giovanni nearly burst out laughing; how could he not know whether Westwood V has anything valuable?

These three fools still had such unique ideas.

"Ahem~ I'm taking some time off lately; if you have matters to report, tell Green," Giovanni said while putting on his sunglasses and directly slacking off.

Gary was completely stunned…

What? I didn't know you were this kind of boss Giovanni!

"Um... Meow~ Executive! What are your orders?" Meowth approached with a sly grin.

Gary trembled slightly as he smiled. "You three seem pretty idle lately?"

"We're indeed somewhat free; we can't find that kid anymore and our funds are running low. We've only had one meal in total these past two days…" James counted on his fingers while calculating.

Pfft~ Gary nearly spat blood from laughter.

"Professor Westwood V is useless; he doesn't have any rare Pokémon!

Didn't I tell you all to gather funds? Do you think I'm just talking nonsense?" Gary yelled angrily.

"I'm sorry >人< Executive!" The trio immediately knelt on one knee.

"In any case, since we're at the seaside now, why don't you three set up a stall selling fried noodles? You might earn some money," Gary thought for a moment before saying.

"Yes! Executive!" The trio nodded eagerly in agreement.

"And get some iced juice; I want some with Green," Uncle Giovanni added.

"Okay! Boss!" The trio nodded vigorously before turning to leave quickly.

"Wait!" Gary called out with a complex expression toward the trio.

"Executive! Do you have more orders?" The trio scratched their heads in confusion.

Gary pulled out two large bills from his beach shorts pocket and stuffed them into James' hand. "Take them out for something nice to eat; fill your stomach before working hard!"

"Executive~つД`~" The trio's eyes filled with tears as they nodded heavily before leaving excitedly.

"Hmph~ You really know how to win people over," Giovanni chuckled lightly.

"Sigh~" Gary sighed. "Actually, these three do have talent; they just think differently. We're all workers—it's not easy for anyone…"

Giovanni adjusted his sunglasses and fell silent coolly.

When Team Rocket was first established, wasn't it so that kids from poor backgrounds could also have a way out?

He had nearly forgotten his original intention...

The boy who once hunted dragons has now become an evil dragon...
