As Sabrina spoke, Alakazam began radiating a dazzling light.

The Psychic Pokémon was undergoing Mega Evolution.

After the transformation, Alakazam's armor morphed into a flowing purple robe. While its overall coloration remained unchanged, a red crystal manifested in the center of its forehead, and a sharp horn grew from the top of its head. Its yellow mustache transformed into an impressive pale beard. With its feet pressed together, it levitated using Psychic energy.

The number of spoons increased to five, no longer held in its hands but suspended in the air through telekinesis.

Legend said that Mega Alakazam channeled all its physical power into Psychic energy during Mega Evolution, causing its muscles to completely atrophy. It could only remain suspended in the air through constant psychic levitation.

In other words, it had converted all its attributes into Special Attack. A Mega Alakazam with such explosive Special Attack power could make even formidable opponents question their survival chances.

"Mega Alakazam, Psychic!" Sabrina commanded immediately after the evolution completed.

Psychic-type moves inflicted double damage against Poison-type Pokémon.

And with Mega Evolution maximizing Alakazam's Special Attack, the Psychic attack was devastatingly powerful.

Muk and Koga's other Poison-type were blasted backward, despite the latter being naturally stronger than a regular Alakazam.

After Mega Evolution, however, Alakazam indeed surpassed it in raw power, though type matchups still applied.

Muk and the other Poison-type staggered from the attack, momentarily destabilized.

Yet they didn't fall. After some unsettling writhing motions, they renewed their assault.

"As expected of Koga's Pokémon—they're all incredibly tenacious," Sabrina frowned, realizing that her opponent was not just a ninja but his Pokémon shared his endurance as well.

It seemed Koga had mastered the ninja art of survival. All his techniques and his Pokémon's abilities were geared toward endurance.

It was as if his philosophy stated: "I may not defeat you outright, but you can't eliminate me, and eventually my poison will overcome you."

"No matter," Sabrina thought. "They can't breach our defenses, and once Morning Sun defeats Golbat, victory will be ours."

Sabrina's objective wasn't to defeat Koga directly but to protect Eddie as she had done previously. Now that Alakazam had Mega Evolved, she could ignore Gary entirely, and Koga's Pokémon couldn't reach Eddie through her defensive line.

With the advantage firmly in their favor, there was no need to rush—they simply needed to wait for Eddie's success.

"Now! Mega Charizard Y, Solar Beam!" Eddie suddenly commanded.

Sabrina heard these words with astonishment and was momentarily stunned.

"This Charizard can use the Grass-type Solar Beam? How in the world did he train it?" she wondered, baffled.

Sabrina remained bewildered, but Eddie had no time for explanations—not that he knew how to explain it anyway.

Just moments ago, Golbat had narrowly dodged Mega Charizard Y's Fire Blast, pushing its evasive capabilities to the limit.

However, the attack had grazed its right wing, which now smoldered from the intense flames. Golbat screeched—not just from pain, but because it had already sustained multiple glancing hits. Its body was practically covered in burns, significantly reducing its speed.

Being one of Koga's Pokémon, it possessed remarkable endurance. Despite its reduced speed, it would quickly regain momentum given the chance.

Eddie wasn't foolish—he understood the resilience of Koga's Pokémon and wouldn't miss such an opportunity. He seized the moment when Golbat's speed faltered.

He ordered Mega Charizard Y to use the move with the fastest charging time under the circumstances.

Thanks to the Drought ability, the environment was sunny, allowing Solar Beam to charge almost instantly. Everyone familiar with Pokémon battles knew this move's speed and power under such conditions.

Though Mega Charizard Y wasn't a Grass-type Pokémon, its heightened Special Attack compensated, ensuring the move would still pack considerable force.

However, Golbat, being Poison/Flying-type, would take only one-quarter damage from Grass-type attacks.

But Eddie wasn't concerned with raw power—he prioritized attack speed. His goal was to strike Golbat and knock it off balance, creating an opening for a decisive blow.

"ROARRR!!!"

Mega Charizard Y roared as its body rapidly absorbed solar energy under the intense sunlight. The charging process completed almost instantly.

From its maw burst a fierce beam of concentrated light, surging toward the slowed Golbat.

The attack's speed exceeded Golbat's expectations. With its injured wing, evasion was impossible.

Yet it responded cleverly.

Seeing the incoming Grass-type Solar Beam, it folded its wings and prepared to endure rather than dodge. For Golbat, this attack would inflict less damage than the previous Fire Blast.

However, while its reasoning was sound, it overlooked one crucial factor.

"I knew you'd choose to tank the hit, which forces you to stop flying and dodging. Miss Sofia, now's your chance!" Eddie called out.

Eddie had never planned to defeat Golbat single-handedly.

While Mega Charizard Y's attack power was substantial, it had taken considerable effort just to reduce Golbat's mobility.

Although Solar Beam's power and speed were impressive—even Golbat recognized it would inevitably connect—the damage would be tolerable due to type resistance.

If it survived this attack, as one of Koga's resilient Pokémon, it would gradually recover, returning the battle to its previous stalemate.

Koga's Pokémon were well-versed in endurance tactics. Though Mega Charizard Y appeared formidable, it had been repeatedly using energy-intensive Fire Blast to damage Golbat.

Mega Evolution granted enhanced stamina, but Charizard couldn't waste energy recklessly. Eventually, fatigue would set in.

In fact, Mega Charizard Y had already depleted over 80% of its energy reserves. Fortunately, Eddie's strategy had succeeded in trapping Golbat.

Sabrina hadn't fully grasped Eddie's plan, but his shout made everything clear—Golbat, which had been relentlessly evading, had finally stopped, creating a perfect opening.

Her Pokémon excelled in attack and defense but lacked speed.

With Golbat's aerial mobility, Sabrina's attacks could barely connect.

But now that Golbat had ceased flying to brace for Eddie's Solar Beam, Sabrina's opportunity had arrived.

"This kid has excellent timing," she thought. "Mega Alakazam, Psychic—finish it!"

Sabrina's lips curled into a slight smile, impressed by Eddie's battle control. She had to admit that even in her early Elite Trainer days, she hadn't displayed such tactical acumen.
