Chapter 40: Meowth
As Haru and the gang approached the Lake of Rage, they saw Gyarados swimming along the water, its massive form cutting through the surface with ease. The lake, once known for its mystery and the powerful Gyarados that inhabited it, now seemed peaceful with the red Gyarados enjoying the open space.
Jessie watched Gyarados, still in awe of the size difference. "If she's so big, what was her size before evolving?" she asked, trying to wrap her head around how much larger Gyarados was compared to the others.
Haru glanced at her, his gaze shifting to the massive water Pokémon. "When a Pokémon evolves, its size generally reflects its pre-evolution state. So, for a Gyarados to be ten times bigger than any other of its kind... that means it was already pretty big as a Magikarp."
"That's... incredible," Jessie muttered, still in disbelief at the sheer size of the creature. "I can't even imagine a Magikarp that big. Was it a freak accident that caused this, or—"
Haru shrugged. "Some things are just meant to be. It's like how people have natural abilities—Pokémon are the same. Some are just born to be stronger than others."
James chimed in, a little too eagerly, "So, how do you plan on training it? I mean, with its size and all, it must need some serious care."
Haru smirked. "That's part of the fun, isn't it? I've got some plans to help Gyarados adjust. It might be big, but it's also got a lot of untapped potential. We're going to work on honing its power."
Gyarados, still enjoying the water, let out a low growl, as if in agreement with Haru's words. It seemed to be forming a bond with its trainer, eager to prove itself even more.
Jessie gave a small nod. "Well, as long as it doesn't cause too much chaos along the way, I'm all for it."
Meanwhile, Meowth, who had been listening quietly, felt a strange surge of emotion. Despite the obvious bond between Haru and his new Pokémon, Meowth couldn't help but feel a little left out. His own evolution was far behind, and he hadn't really grown in the same way.
"Maybe it's time I step up," Meowth mumbled to himself, his gaze lingering on Haru and the red Gyarados.
The others didn't notice the internal conflict brewing within Meowth, who had always prided himself on his cunning and ability to keep up with the gang's plans. But seeing Gyarados—so large, so powerful—he couldn't help but wonder if he was destined for more than just being the comic relief. Maybe it was time for a change.
But for now, Haru's focus was on the present, and with Gyarados by his side, the journey ahead seemed brighter than ever.
Haru raised an eyebrow, looking at Meowth with a concerned expression. "Hey buddy, you okay?" he asked, noticing the feline Pokémon's pensive mood.
Casey, who had been observing Meowth closely, spoke up. "I think Meowth's just thinking about how to get stronger. I mean, think about it... Swampert's fully evolved, Electivire's fully evolved, Scizor's a powerhouse, Houndoom's fully evolved, and Gyarados is fully evolved. The size and power of that thing... it's like a force of nature."
Meowth perked up at Casey's words, though his expression was a mix of determination and uncertainty. He glanced up at the larger Pokémon around him, his thoughts clearly swirling.
Haru smiled, walking over to Meowth and crouching down to his level. "You know, you've got potential too, Meowth. You don't have to compare yourself to everyone else. Every Pokémon evolves at their own pace. But you've already proven you're clever and resourceful—strength isn't just about evolution. It's about how you use what you've got."
Meowth looked at his trainer, a spark of confidence returning to his eyes. He had been thinking about it for a while now, feeling like he was the odd one out compared to the others. But Haru's words made him realize that being strong didn't mean being like everyone else—it meant embracing what made him unique.
"Yeah... I guess you're right, Haru," Meowth said, his usual cocky grin returning. "Maybe I don't need to evolve to be strong. I've got tricks up my sleeve. I'll show you all, just you wait!"
Casey chuckled, giving Meowth a thumbs up. "That's the spirit! You've already got a ton of skill, Meowth. Just need to keep sharpening that edge."
Haru stood up and ruffled Meowth's fur. "Exactly. You've got a lot of heart, buddy. Keep that fire burning."
As the group shared a moment of encouragement, Gyarados swam in the lake nearby, her massive form cutting through the water with grace. Though her power was undeniable, the smaller Pokémon around her had their own unique strengths—and Haru knew it was those individual qualities that made his team unbeatable.
The road ahead was long, but with each of his Pokémon growing stronger in their own way, Haru felt confident in their journey. Meowth had a fire within him, and in time, he'd find a way to evolve into something even greater—on his own terms.
Meowth then looked at Haru. "I want to evolve and help you more in your Gym battle but".
Haru looked at him a bit confused. "But?".
James then spoke. "Oh right you don't know, Meowth doesn't like his Evolution Persian".
Haru just looked at them. "Right you guys have your own Backstory that I have no idea about".
As then Meowth explained his whole Backstory to Haru, and why he doesn't like his Evolution and why in he had his Theory on why he won't evolve.
Casey looked at him. "So you believe you put all you effort to evolving into talking and walking on two legs".
Meowth then spoke. "Yeah".
Haru just looked at him. "Wait doesn't that mean, you already have evolved maybe into a middle stage evolution".
Meowth and everyone stopped looking at Haru as they spoke in a confused voice. "Huh?"
Haru shrugged as he explained, "Well, think about it. If you can walk on two legs and talk like a human, that's not something every Meowth can do. It's actually a pretty advanced ability. Maybe you've already gone through some kind of evolutionary step, even if you didn't fully evolve into a Persian."
Meowth blinked, trying to wrap his mind around Haru's words. "You mean... I'm already kind of evolved, just... not in the way I thought?"
James nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I always kind of figured Meowth's... special skills came from something deeper than just being a regular Meowth. But I didn't really think of it as evolution."
Casey, too, was reflecting on what Haru said. "Yeah, Meowth, you've got something that's pretty unique. I mean, not every Meowth can talk or walk on two legs. Maybe this is the way you evolved, in your own way."
Meowth stood there in stunned silence for a moment. It was something he'd never thought of before. "So... I don't need to evolve into a Persian to be strong? I've already done something... different?"
Haru smiled and placed a hand on Meowth's head. "Exactly. You've already gone through something most Pokémon never will. That makes you special. You've got your own way of being strong."
Meowth looked down, processing this new perspective. "Huh... I never thought of it like that. I always thought I had to be like the other Pokémon, but maybe... maybe this is enough. I don't need to be a Persian to help you, Haru. I can still be strong in my own way."
Casey grinned and punched Meowth lightly on the shoulder. "That's the spirit! You're awesome just the way you are, Meowth."
James gave a reassuring smile, too. "You're already the best Meowth there is. No need to change that."
Haru gave Meowth an encouraging nod. "You're part of my team because of who you are, Meowth. Don't ever forget that."
Meowth puffed out his chest, the usual cocky grin returning to his face. "Yeah, you're right. Who needs to evolve into a Persian when I'm already as awesome as I am?"
Casey then looked at them. "Wait this mens that Meowth can evolve again, maybe into a different Pokémon and not Persian".
Jessie looked at him. "Yeah, you have a point".
Meowth did feel right about this. "Wait, wait, wait".
As then Jessie, James and Casey started to throw all there Evolution. Meowth's eyes widened as the group tossed various Evolution Stones at him. The Moon Stone, Sun Stone, and even the Dawn Stone, but none of them worked. He began to panic, his tail twitching in frustration. "Hey, hey! I'm not trying to evolve into something else! What's going on here?!"
Haru raised a hand, signaling for everyone to stop. "Alright, hold on! Everyone, calm down." He stepped forward and pulled a Black Belt from his bag. "I've heard that some Pokémon evolve not just through stones, but through training. Like, an Eevee evolving after learning a Fairy-type move. There are other ways to evolve, and it doesn't always have to be a stone."
Casey nodded. "Right! Maybe it's not about a stone, but about the right kind of evolution through experiences or moves. Meowth's already different because he can walk on two legs and talk!"
Meowth hesitated but glanced at the Black Belt in Haru's hands. "You think... this could be something for me?"
Haru smiled. "It might not be a stone that's the answer for you. Maybe it's something more. Training, or maybe even a move, could trigger a different kind of evolution for you, Meowth."
James seemed to have an idea. "What about the Dawn Stone? It's meant to help certain Pokémon evolve... maybe it could be useful with a move or something. Let's try it!"
Haru raised an eyebrow but then nodded. "Let's see."
As James held the Dawn Stone in front of Meowth, the Meowth seemed uncertain. "I'm not sure this is going to work, but... I'll give it a shot."
Suddenly, the energy from the Dawn Stone started to flicker and pulse around Meowth, causing him to feel a strange sensation, but it wasn't the typical evolution feeling. He looked down at the Black Belt that Haru held, and something clicked. Meowth realized that maybe his evolution didn't rely on the stones or traditional means.
Haru stepped forward, offering the Black Belt to Meowth. "This could be the key. It's a symbol of strength, of power earned through effort, not just handed down from a stone or evolution process."
Meowth looked at it and, in a burst of energy, he felt his confidence and inner strength surge. The Black Belt wasn't just a tool—it was a reminder that his evolution wasn't about external change but internal growth.
The Dawn Stone's energy flickered as it merged with Meowth's newfound focus. He felt different, but it wasn't an evolution in the way he expected. Instead, Meowth felt more connected to his own potential, like something had awakened deep inside him. His body grew stronger, his resolve even firmer.
"I don't think I need to evolve into a Persian after all," Meowth mused, glancing at his friends. "Maybe... I'm evolving into something else—something that's all my own."
Haru smiled proudly. "That's the spirit, Meowth. Evolution doesn't always mean changing into something else. It's about realizing who you are and what you're capable of."
James looked impressed. "I never thought about it that way before."
Casey grinned. "Yeah, Meowth, you're evolving into something much better—yourself!"
Meowth puffed out his chest. "You know what? Maybe you're right. I'm already awesome enough as I am, and now I've got even more power than before!"
As the group shared a laugh, Haru felt a sense of pride for Meowth. The Pokémon had learned an important lesson: evolution wasn't just about changing form—it was about changing for the better. And that change came from within.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Meowth stood tall, ready for whatever challenges lay ahead, not just as a member of Haru's team but as a unique, powerful Pokémon in his own right.
The next day arrives as Haru and Meowth tryed to do something, there first going was to to use a Fighting type move and tech to Meowth and they used a TM for Low Kick as then Meowth used as after knocking out a few Pokémon Meowth glows as he started to evolve the light glows aa it stopped.
Haru watched in awe as Meowth's form began to glow with bright, evolving light. The light surrounded Meowth, enveloping him as his body shifted and changed. The energy built up and then faded, leaving behind a slightly larger, more muscular Meowth, standing proudly on two legs. His fur had deepened to a more vibrant orange, with his belly now a light yellow. Bands of dark markings appeared on both his arms, his ears became more pointed, and his eyes glowed a bright, sharper yellow.
Meowth's smile was wider now, as his tail now sported a small, yet distinct belt-like shape, a symbol of the power and effort he'd built through his training.
He looked at Haru with a newfound confidence. "Perfigther... Yeah, no, just call me Meowth."
Haru was speechless for a moment, his eyes wide with amazement. "Meowth, you... you really evolved into something else entirely! You're bigger, stronger, and... you look great!"
Meowth stood a bit taller, flexing his newly grown muscles. "Thanks, Haru! Seems like all the effort and the training really paid off, huh?" He stretched his arms out and gave a smug look, clearly enjoying his new form.
Casey, who had been nearby, gave a loud cheer. "Whoa, Meowth! You really evolved into something amazing!"
James and Jessie also stared in disbelief, impressed by Meowth's transformation. "That's incredible!" James said, giving Meowth a thumbs up. "I guess you really did evolve in your own way!"
Meowth grinned, his usual confident demeanor more pronounced than ever. "I always knew I had it in me! No need for a Persian when I've got this kind of power."
Haru nodded in approval, his eyes gleaming with pride. "You've come a long way, Meowth. This is your strength now, not because of any stones or external factors—just your hard work. You've evolved on your own terms."
Meowth gave a satisfied purr, clearly feeling like a true powerhouse now. "Yeah, I'm definitely ready for whatever comes next. And I'll always have my own style."
With that, Haru and his team, including their newly evolved Meowth, were ready to continue their journey with renewed vigor. This was just one of the many steps in Meowth's growth, and with his new form and attitude, he was more than ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
