Pokémon Court

Chapter 562: Countdown to the Festival Begins!

Sootopolis City was usually filled with tourists even on regular days, and the festival this time had made the city even more crowded.

At certain times every year, whether it was the League Conference or the Grand Festival, many Trainers and Coordinators would be drawn to watch, regardless of whether they were participants themselves or not. Faced with such a high-level annual competition, they simply couldn't resist the urge to come and see it.

This was the third day since Chisana arrived in Sootopolis City, and he planned to participate in the festival as a Coordinator.

Chisana knew that Terrance would also be taking part, but he hadn't contacted him. He didn't want to stay under Terrance's shadow—Chisana wanted to step onto the stage this time in his own way.

"Hey! Chisana, you got here early," a girl with orange twin ponytails spotted Chisana and walked over to greet him.

"Kikka?" Chisana paused slightly upon seeing the girl, then said, "Of course you have to come early for something like this."

"Let's talk later, we need to go pick up our identity cards first." Suddenly remembering something, Chisana grabbed the girl named Kikka and ran off in a specific direction.

Kikka was a friend Chisana had met while participating in Pokémon Contests. Both of them had come to this festival as Coordinators. Since there was still a lot of time before the festival officially began, all the participants were making their way from different parts of the city toward Sootopolis City's central plaza!

What made this joint Trainer and Coordinator Super Grand Festival different from ordinary competitions was that anyone could participate!

It is said to be completely open!

No need for prior registration—just fill out some information before receiving your Coordinator or Trainer identity card.

Compared to a typical tournament, this festival had more of an entertainment vibe.

Moreover, while the temporarily constructed massive venue in the central plaza of Sootopolis City was indeed the stage for the events, it was only one of them!

After Chisana and Kikka picked up their Coordinator identity cards, they began discussing the event.

"It's said that out of the 17 events, only a few will take place here in the Sootopolis City plaza…"

"Most of the events will be held elsewhere and broadcast live simultaneously across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh," Kikka said excitedly, turning to Chisana. "The first event is a Flying-type event! Your Crobat can totally take part—and given how unique your Crobat is, you might even get a great result!"

"Of course I'm participating," Chisana replied with a smile. His Crobat could join both Flying-type and Poison-type entertainment events, but compared to its skills in Poison-type, it was much better when it came to flying.

Sootopolis City's central plaza, the location of the festival's opening ceremony, was currently being kept in excellent order by Officer Jenny and her team of officers. In addition, the plaza was filled with countless vendors—food stalls and accessory sellers alike—shouting out their wares with all their might. After all, obtaining a license to operate a booth at this festival hadn't been easy, so they were working hard to make as much money as they could.

After registering, Chisana and Kikka hung their identity cards on their chests and began to stroll around the plaza like visitors at a temple fair.

At that moment, Chisana, who had just bought a local snack, spotted a Coordinator with a Beautifly perched on their shoulder—and he momentarily lost himself in thought.

Seeing the look on Chisana's face, Kikka nudged him and said, "Thinking about Mr. Terrance again, huh?"

She knew that Top Coordinator Terrance held a significant place in Chisana's heart as a goal and someone he hoped to surpass.

"Yeah… I wonder where Brother Terrance is right now. He should be participating in the first Flying-type event too, right?" Chisana replied.

The two continued walking and chatting when, all of a sudden, a police officer stopped them.

"Sorry, this path is temporarily closed," the male officer said, looking at them.

"Uh, why?" Chisana was puzzled. What was special about this path? He'd walked it just two days ago.

The officer didn't elaborate, but right then, a figure appeared and quietly called out to Chisana: "Hey, over here."

Chisana froze upon seeing the man. His mouth opened as if to call out, but before he could, the man quickly pulled him aside.

Kikka also hurriedly followed after them.

"Mr. Fuego?" Chisana exclaimed in surprise upon recognizing the man. He was one of the judges at the Fallarbor Contest. Because of Terrance, Chisana had briefly met him after the contest.

"You're Terrance's little brother, right?" Fuego chuckled and said, "That path leads directly to the main stage at the center of the plaza. It's reserved for Top Coordinators."

"Uh… yeah, you still remember me," Chisana said in mild disbelief, then introduced Fuego to Kikka.

"Want to get a bit closer to the main stage? Follow me," Fuego said. He had come by the area on a whim, and after unexpectedly spotting Chisana—a promising young Coordinator whom Terrance had high hopes for—he decided to lend him a hand.

"Will we get to see the Top Coordinators?" Kikka asked with anticipation. Despite walking around the plaza for so long, they hadn't seen a single Top Coordinator yet. As for Trainers, they didn't know much about them, so whether any were famous or not, they didn't really have any idea.

However, in a setting where so many Coordinators had gathered, even if it wasn't a Master like Wallace, the mere appearance of a Top Coordinator would still cause a bit of a commotion.

With that in mind, Chisana and Kikka began to understand what Mr. Fuego meant and why a dedicated passage had been created.

"At least fourteen Top Coordinators are expected to attend—that's the minimum estimate." Mr. Fuego said as he led Chisana and Kikka in a certain direction.

"Fourteen?" Chisana and Kikka were both stunned.

"Yes, fourteen have already been confirmed, but there will likely be some unexpected arrivals as well. Of course, the number of Top Coordinators will only increase," Fuego said with a smile. The Contest Committee had really gone all out for this festival.

"I wonder if I'll be able to get Master Wallace's autograph," Kikka mused. Although many booths along the streets were selling Wallace' posters and figurines, what she really wanted was an autograph.

"If you perform well, you might even catch Master Wallace's attention," Fuego said with a glance at the card on Kikka's chest, smiling as he spoke.

His words instantly ignited Kikka and Chisana's motivation.

As the main organizers, the Contest Committee naturally paid close attention to the Trainer community in response to the Pokémon League's requests. However, this was, after all, the Coordinators' stage. The advertising pamphlets distributed this morning provided a thorough introduction to the festival, and from the content, it was clear to any discerning observer that the events leaned more toward Coordinators.

Even so, no Trainer was willing to admit defeat.

Take the first one, for example: a Flying-type event. The venue was the vast skies above the Sootopolis Outer Sea. The event was called "Flying Obstacle Challenge." While it wasn't a traditional battle, would Trainers think the Pokémon they had trained were any less capable than those of the Coordinators?
