Chapter 400: Who is Terrance?

Steven Stone!

Who is he? Setting aside that the Devon Corporation had recently risen to prominence, overshadowing many enterprises in Hoenn and even showing signs of rivaling Kanto's giant Silph Co., Steven had already achieved the position of Elite Four Champion in his early twenties. This alone had made him a household name throughout Hoenn.

And standing next to Steven was none other than Professor Lucci from the Weather Institute. A leading expert dedicated to studying Hoenn's climate. The unpredictable weather in Hoenn has caused numerous disasters, and if any place has seen relief from this, it's thanks in no small part to the Weather Institute. Professor Lucci is someone who has dedicated his efforts to the well-being of the entire Hoenn.

The crowd was already numb...

But what did any of this have to do with Terrance?

Who exactly was Terrance?

If Elite Four Glacia could still remain seated before, then she could not put on airs with people like Scott, Professor Lucci, and Steven—whose statuses rivaled her own. Her eyes were filled with surprise as she looked at Terrance. She suddenly realized that there was much she didn't know about him. It seems that Terrance's victory over Elite Four Phoebe with just one Pokémon was no fluke.

"Professor Lucci, Mr. Steven... Welcome."

Terrance stepped forward to greet them. Everyone turned their attention to him, but it was Professor Lucci's next words that truly ignited the atmosphere.

"Terrance, you're a hero who saved Hoenn! Now that you've become a Gym Leader, how could I not come to congratulate you?" Professor Lucci said with a smile.

Only Terrance and Steven present understood the meaning of his words. The glowing meteorite Terrance had handed over to the Weather Institute, suspected to be linked to the super-ancient Pokémon Rayquaza, had evidently yielded significant research results. It can play a crucial role in maintaining the entire Hoenn's climatic stability.

In this sense, it wasn't wrong to say that Terrance had indirectly saved Hoenn.

"Professor Lucci, you're too kind," Terrance replied modestly, refusing to take credit. This achievement belonged to the Weather Institute only.

"Congratulations." Steven also presented an exquisite gift box. The surrounding Trainers, along with secretaries and assistants from large companies, gasped in astonishment. If the fruit and vegetables gifted earlier by the local residents had evoked feelings of warmth and comfort, then what could the gift from someone of Steven's status be?!

"Even the Elite Four Champion knows him…" Some of the Trainers were stunned.

"Wait, I think I read something in a newspaper once—about a Coordinator visiting Steven's home as a guest… Could it be? Could it really have been Terrance?!" One Trainer scratched their head furiously, trying to recall an old headline they had seen but forgotten over time.

No matter what, everyone began to reevaluate Terrance's identity. Clearly, he was far more than just an ordinary Gym Leader!

Luckily, the top-tier Breeder Master Victor—who was both a guide and half-a-mentor to Terrance—did not attend in person. Otherwise, the commotion might have been even greater.

"Welcome, everyone."

This situation was entirely unexpected for Terrance.

What was supposed to be a simple gym opening ceremony had gradually escalated into a grand spectacle. One by one, the identities of those bringing congratulatory gifts continued to astonish everyone. Questions lingered in many minds, but as the ceremony drew to a close, the guests eventually had to leave.

Yet this gym opening ceremony would undoubtedly leave a deep impression on all attendees. Among the recent gym inaugurations, has any surpassed the scale of Fallarbor Town's?

"Thank you for coming, Teacher Teresa."

The final guest Terrance bid farewell to was Teresa, who had come as a representative of Crown Academy. She brought gifts on behalf of a few acquaintances of Terrance's but was far more low-profile than the other guests. Teresa wasn't a public figure, but she was someone Terrance knew well.

"Keep it up."

The two had talked at length. Teacher Teresa even inspected the growth of the small bugs within the gym. As she departed, her parting words were a simple yet heartfelt encouragement.

As the guests left, the people of Old Green House eagerly began cleaning the gym's interior and exterior. They were all brimming with excitement, having witnessed so many prominent figures in a single day—individuals they'd never dreamed of encountering before.

While today was a day of celebration, it wasn't over yet.

Terrance gazed at the sky outside and took a deep breath. Tomorrow, a crucial battle awaited him.

The four months of training at Mt. Chimney without any rest had all been in preparation for this moment!

"Four years…"

It had been four years since Terrance first stepped out of Old Green House. Counting the time since he arrived in this world, eight years had passed.

From the perspective of an ordinary person, Terrance's achievements were already something many could never attain in a lifetime. But Terrance himself knew how much of it relied on luck.

However, having reached this level, if he wants to climb even higher, luck can provide very little help.

The reason why Terrance's six Pokémon made significant progress during the four months of training is that Terrance invested almost all his savings into aiding their training. This level of extravagance would definitely make many people envious and scold him for being wasteful.

If the same resources had been spread out over a year or two, the results might have been more cost-effective. But Terrance chose to push forward.

He had relied on the advantage of his age many times, but he didn't want to use a conservative approach to ensure growth for himself and his Pokémon.

"Brother Terrance, are you going to check out the gifts?" Rina poked her head into Terrance's room and asked.

"Gifts?" Terrance slapped his forehead, nearly forgetting about them.

The gifts from the residents of Fallarbor Town were straightforward, with no extravagant packaging, so their contents were obvious. However, some gifts were wrapped in delicate, ornate boxes. Now that everyone had left, it was time to see what they held.

"Alright, let's go."

"Yay!" Rina jumped excitedly.

Why did this feel like drawing a lottery?!

In another room.

Ayan and Scarlet, who had been responsible for gathering the gifts for Terrance, had stacked all the presents neatly in this room and marked them to ensure they wouldn't forget who had given what.

Aside from the gifts from the residents of Fallarbor Town, Terrance counted 15 more.

Among them, seven were from various major companies in Hoenn, including one from Mr. Scott.

Teresa represents the gifts sent by acquaintances of Crown Academy, totaling six.

And finally, there were the two gifts from Steven and Professor Lucci.

"Open them! Open them!"

Rina and Myu were already crowding around Terrance, urging him to start. Their eyes sparkled with anticipation as they stared at the intricate gift boxes, eager to see what surprises lay inside.

Terrance' lips slightly twitched. He wasn't nearly as excited as they were.

"Don't rush. We'll open them one at a time."

With that, Terrance first picked out the gifts from companies he had only worked with briefly and didn't have a deep relationship with. He placed them in front of him, intending to start with these.
