Chapter- Quarter-Finals Continue

The crowd roared as Brock returned Kabutops and reached for his next Poké Ball.

"You've earned your rest, Kabutops. Time to turn up the pressure!" Brock declared, hurling the ball high into the air.

With a burst of light, a sleek, purple-winged Crobat emerged, its four wings beating furiously as it zipped through the air in tight loops. The Pokémon let out a sharp, piercing cry: "Crobat!"

Alexander's gaze narrowed. Crobat... Fast and agile. Not exactly the kind of opponent Blastoise prefers. This'll be tricky. He glanced at Blastoise, who stood steady, water jets primed.

"Start with Double Team!" Brock commanded.

Crobat darted through the air, leaving behind shimmering afterimages as it multiplied into a dozen indistinguishable copies, encircling Blastoise in a dizzying pattern.

Alexander's jaw tightened. This is a classic—forcing me to play his game right out of the gate. But I won't give him that satisfaction.

"Don't lose focus! Use Rain Dance!" Alexander called.

Blastoise growled his name and raised his cannons skyward, unleashing a jet of water that burst into the sky. The arena darkened as storm clouds gathered, and a steady downpour began to fall.

Rain Dance will give us the edge. Blastoise's water moves will hit harder, and Crobat won't be able to use the sun for any advantage.

Brock smirked. "That's cute, but let's show them our speed! Acrobatics!"

The real Crobat surged forward from the swarm of illusions, slicing through the rain like a missile and slamming into Blastoise's side. The force pushed the Water-type back several feet.

"Blast!" Blastoise growled in pain, bracing himself.

"Shake it off, buddy! Counter with Ice Beam!" Alexander ordered.

Blastoise roared, spinning on his feet as his cannons locked onto Crobat. Twin beams of icy energy erupted, freezing rain droplets mid-air and obliterating several illusions.

Good. That'll keep him guessing. As long as we don't give Crobat room to breathe, we can turn this around.

"Keep moving, Crobat! Air Slash!" Brock shouted.

Crobat looped upward, dodging the ice with ease, then swooped down, flapping its wings to send razor-sharp blades of air toward Blastoise.

"Protect!"

A shimmering barrier enveloped Blastoise just in time, deflecting the slicing winds. As the attack dissipated, Alexander clenched his fist. "Now, Hydro Pump!"

Blastoise dropped the shield and fired a high-pressure torrent of water from his cannons. The rain amplified the attack's power, tearing through Crobat's illusions and heading straight for the real one.

"Dodge and use Confuse Ray!" Brock countered.

Crobat twisted its body in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the Hydro Pump. Its eyes glowed an eerie yellow as it launched a sphere of hypnotic light straight at Blastoise.

Blastoise staggered as the orb struck, his movements becoming erratic. "Blast...oise?" he muttered, shaking his head as if trying to clear his vision.

Alexander's fingers tightened on his Poké Ball. No. Not now. Focus, Alex. You've been here before. Panicking won't get you anywhere. Blastoise has been with me long enough to know how to fight through this.

"Snap out of it, Blastoise! You've got this!"

Brock seized the opening. "Cross Poison, now!"

Crobat dove in, its fangs glowing a venomous purple as it slashed Blastoise with precision strikes. Blastoise groaned in pain, stumbling back.

The crowd gasped, excitement rising as Blastoise looked to be in trouble.

He's not out yet. Blastoise has taken worse hits before. Just one solid move...

"Come on, Blastoise!" Alexander shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Use Skull Bash!"

With a grunt of determination, Blastoise roared and charged forward, his head glowing with energy. The impact shattered the rain-soaked ground where Crobat had been a second ago as it barely evaded.

"Not bad," Brock admitted. "But this match-up has gone on for too long!"

Crobat hovered high above, its wings slicing through the stormy air as the rain continued to fall.

Alexander's eyes flicked between Crobat and Blastoise. The rain hammered the battlefield, creating small puddles that shimmered under the stadium lights. He could feel the energy of the crowd, their cheers blending into the storm.

"Blastoise, keep your focus! Use Aqua Jet!"

Blastoise roared in response. In a burst of speed, he surrounded himself with a spiraling torrent of water and launched into the air, heading straight for Crobat.

"Not so fast!" Brock shouted. "Crobat, evade and counter with Sludge Bomb!"

Crobat darted sideways, narrowly avoiding the Aqua Jet, then fired a volley of poisonous orbs from its mouth. The toxic projectiles exploded around Blastoise mid-air, knocking him back to the ground.

"Blas-toise!" the Pokémon grunted as he landed heavily, skidding across the soaked battlefield.

Alexander clenched his fists. He's taking too much damage. I need to regain control before Brock overwhelms us.

"Hang in there, buddy! Use Rain-boosted Water Pulse!"

Blastoise steadied himself, his cannons swiveling to aim at the still-moving Crobat. A sphere of shimmering water formed between them before firing like a missile.

"Air Cutter, Crobat!"

Crobat flapped its wings, sending blades of wind to intercept the Water Pulse. The two attacks collided mid-air, bursting into a spray of rain and mist that obscured the battlefield.

This is my chance.

"Blastoise, Ice Beam—spread it wide!" Alexander commanded.

Through the mist, Blastoise unleashed a broad sweep of icy energy, freezing the rain droplets into tiny shards that sparkled in the stadium lights. Crobat, caught off-guard, let out a sharp "Cro-bat!" as one wing was grazed, frost forming along the edge.

Brock's eyes widened. "Don't let him ground you! Heat Wave!"

Crobat flapped its wings with a surge of fiery energy, melting the frost and clearing the mist. The sudden heat caused the rain to steam, creating an eerie fog around the battlefield.

"Blastoise, Dig!"

Blastoise immediately plunged into the muddy ground, disappearing from sight.

"Clever," Brock said with a grin. "But we're ready for that. Crobat, Supersonic!"

Crobat screeched, sending soundwaves through the foggy battlefield. Blastoise's path underground became visible as the vibrations disturbed the soil.

"There!" Brock called. "Cross Poison, now!"

Crobat dove toward the disturbed ground, its claws glowing with toxic energy.

"Not yet," Alexander muttered under his breath.

As Crobat struck, the ground erupted—Blastoise shot up with a glowing white fist, landing a direct Dynamic Punch to Crobat's side.

"Crobat!" it cried, tumbling through the air before regaining its balance.

The crowd roared at the back-and-forth intensity, the momentum shifting constantly.

Brock gritted his teeth. "Crobat, use Giga Drain!"

Crobat's wings glowed green as it siphoned energy from Blastoise, who staggered slightly.

"Shake it off with Hydro Cannon!" Alexander countered.

Blastoise roared as his cannons unleashed a massive surge of water, cutting through the fog and slamming into Crobat. The Flying-type was sent spiraling backward, barely managing to stay aloft.

Both Pokémon were breathing heavily now, their movements slower but no less determined.

This is it. Whoever lands the next big hit wins.

"Blastoise, Rain-boosted Aqua Tail!"

"Crobat, Acrobatics!"

Blastoise's tail glowed with swirling water as he lunged forward, just as Crobat streaked down like a bullet. The two attacks collided mid-field in an explosion of water and energy, sending shockwaves across the stadium.

As the mist cleared, both Pokémon were left standing—barely.

I can feel it, Alexander thought. This match is about to hit its climax. We've just got to push a little harder.

The battlefield was silent except for the pounding rain and the heavy breathing of both Pokémon. Blastoise's cannons glimmered with residual energy, and Crobat flapped its wings weakly, clearly at its limit. The tension in the stadium was palpable as everyone waited for the decisive moment.

Alexander clenched his fists. One last push. Blastoise has it in him. He know he does.

Brock pointed at Blastoise, his voice steady despite the high stakes. "Crobat, it's now or never! Giga Impact!"

Alexander raised his voice, his confidence unwavering "Blastoise, Hyper Beam! Give it everything you've got!"

Crobat screeched, summoning all its remaining strength. Its body glowed with a fiery purple aura as it sped forward like a meteor, the air around it crackling from the sheer force of the attack.

Blastoise let out a deep "Blas-toise!", bracing himself as his cannons glowed with a brilliant golden light. The energy built to a crescendo, and with a deafening roar, he unleashed the Hyper Beam. The beam of pure energy cut through the rain, illuminating the battlefield like lightning.

The two attacks met mid-field in an explosion of power that sent shockwaves across the stadium. Water and debris flew into the air, and the crowd erupted in gasps and cheers, the sheer force of the collision visible from every angle.

For a moment, it seemed like neither attack would give way. But slowly, the Hyper Beam began to push back against Crobat's Giga Impact. With a final, resounding blast, the beam overpowered the Flying-type, engulfing it completely.

When the dust and steam cleared, Crobat lay motionless on the ground, its wings sprawled out. The glowing aura around its body faded as it let out a weak, defeated "Cro-bat…" before falling silent.

Blastoise stood in the middle of the field, steam rising from his cannons. His legs trembled, and with a groan of "Blas…toise…", he dropped to one knee, utterly spent but still standing.

The referee raised the flag. "Crobat is unable to battle!"

The stadium exploded with applause and cheers, the crowd leaping to their feet. Alexander exhaled deeply, a small smile breaking across his face.

He looked at his partner with pride. "You did it, Blastoise. You were incredible."

Blastoise turned to him, giving a tired but proud grunt of "Blas-toise!"

The roar of the crowd was deafening, but Alexander's focus was entirely on the exhausted form of his Blastoise. The Water-type knelt on one knee, his cannons steaming and his shell splattered with mud and rain. Alexander raised his Poké Ball, his voice filled with care.

"Blastoise, you've done more than enough. Let's call it here. You've earned your rest."

Blastoise turned his head, his warm brown eyes locking onto Alexander's. With a resolute growl of "Blastoise!", he planted his massive hands into the ground and pushed himself upright. His legs trembled under the strain, but his stance was firm, his gaze filled with determination.

"Blastoise…?" Alexander hesitated, lowering the Poké Ball. His partner shook his head stubbornly and stomped one foot, the impact kicking up a splash of muddy water. The message was clear: Blastoise wasn't done yet.

The crowd caught onto the interaction, their cheers rising to a fever pitch as they witnessed the unyielding spirit of the Water-type. Fans shouted words of encouragement, their voices blending into a single wave of support.

Alexander smiled faintly, a mix of pride and concern flickering in his eyes. That's just like you, isn't it? Always refusing to quit, no matter how tough it gets. He lowered the Poké Ball completely and fixed his gloves. "Alright, buddy. If you're sure about this, then let's keep going. But we play it smart, understood?"

Blastoise nodded firmly, letting out a short, determined "Toise!" as he adjusted his stance, the cannons on his back twitching slightly in anticipation.

Across the field, Brock smirked, clearly impressed. He crossed his arms and called out, "You've got one stubborn Blastoise there, Alexander. I can see why you've made it this far."

Alexander met Brock's gaze, his voice steady but sharp. "He's not just stubborn. He's a fighter. And he's not going down easily."

The announcer's voice boomed across the stadium. "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems Blastoise is staying in the fight! What an incredible display of determination from Alexander Blaze and his powerhouse partner!"

The cheers of the crowd seemed to energize both trainers and their Pokémon. Alexander took a deep breath, his fingers brushing against his gloves as he prepared himself. If Blastoise isn't giving up, neither am I. Let's show everyone what we're made of.

The battlefield was set, the rain still falling in heavy sheets, but neither trainer nor Pokémon wavered. The quarterfinal match was far from over, and the audience knew they were about to witness something unforgettable.

As the cheers of the crowd began to settle into an excited hum, Alexander adjusted his gloves and looked across the field. His gaze lingered on Blastoise, who stood tall despite his exhaustion. Alexander's lips pressed into a thin line as he clenched his fists. You're incredible, Blastoise, but I know you can't keep this up much longer. Brock's next Pokémon is going to be tough, and we're already running on fumes.

Alexander's eyes shifted to Brock, who was selecting his next Poké Ball. A realization struck him: the rest of Brock's team was Rock-types, a natural strength of the Pewter City Gym Leader lineage. Rock-types… Slow, heavy hitters. But if I can set the stage right, we can tip the scales in our favor.

He glanced at the rain still falling around them. A plan began to form in his mind, sharp and calculated. We've already got the weather on our side. If I can keep the rain going and amplify its effect, we'll have the upper hand against anything Brock throws at us.

Blastoise shifted slightly, his tired yet determined eyes meeting Alexander's. The unspoken between them was clear: whatever the strategy, they'd face it together.

"Listen, big guy," he murmured softly so only Blastoise could hear. "I know you've got the fight left in you, but we're going to be smart about this."

Blastoise gave a low, gruff "Blastoise," nodding in understanding. His cannons adjusted slightly, readying for whatever came next.

Across the battlefield, Brock grinned as he tossed his next Poké Ball into the air. "You've got guts, Alexander. But let's see if you can handle this! Onix, let's go!"

The massive Rock Snake Pokémon emerged in a burst of light, its towering form drawing gasps from the crowd. Onix let out a thunderous "Onix!", shaking the ground as it coiled into a battle stance. The rain slid down its rocky hide, creating small rivulets that pooled beneath it.

Alexander stood tall, his expression cool and focused. "Blastoise, we're sticking to the plan. Use Rain Dance!"

The rain intensified as Blastoise's Rain Dance started, the battlefield transforming into a torrential storm. The storm's sheer force whipped through the stadium, soaking the trainers and drawing gasps from the crowd. But Brock, his face taut with urgency, wasn't about to let Blastoise have the upper hand.

"Onix, stop him before he finishes!" Brock barked. "Use Tackle!"

Onix surged forward with surprising speed, its massive body cutting through the rain like a freight train. The ground trembled beneath its weight as it launched itself at Blastoise, its rocky body gleaming under the stormy skies.

"Blastoise, don't stop!" Alexander yelled, his voice carrying above the pounding rain. "Finish the Rain Dance—no matter what!"

Blastoise didn't flinch. His arms raised high, and his cannons pointed skyward, he focused all his remaining strength into completing the move. The storm intensified, the rain coming down in relentless sheets, its power doubling as Blastoise roared, the Rain Dance fully realized.

But just as the move completed, Onix's massive form collided with Blastoise in a brutal Tackle. The impact sent a shockwave across the field, the Water-type skidding backward through the mud, his feet digging deep trenches into the soaked battlefield.

"Blastoise!" Alexander shouted, his fists clenching as he watched his partner struggle to stay upright.

The crowd gasped, murmurs rippling through the stands as the announcer's voice rang out.

"Incredible! Onix lands a direct hit with Tackle, but Blastoise refuses to fall!"

Blastoise's legs trembled under the weight of the blow, water dripping from his shell as he fought to remain standing. His eyes, heavy with exhaustion, locked onto Alexander's. Slowly but surely, he straightened himself, his cannons shifting back into position as he let out a low, determined growl.

Brock's eyes widened and he crossed his arms, shaking his head in disbelief. "Unreal. After a hit like that…."

The audience roared, their cheers echoing through the rain-drenched stadium. Even the announcer seemed caught up in the moment. "Ladies and gentlemen, Blastoise is still standing! What heart! What determination!"

Alexander's lips curled into a grin, his confidence renewed by Blastoise's resilience. "That's what I'm talking about, big guy. You're unstoppable."

Alexander flipped his wet hair back with a quick motion, water spraying around him as the storm raged on. His eyes burned with determination as he pumped his fist toward Onix, his voice cutting through the roar of the rain.

"Blastoise, it's time to show the world our power!" he shouted, his tone electrified with conviction. The crowd erupted in cheers, the energy of the battle surging as Blastoise squared his shoulders and let out a defiant roar, ready for whatever came next.

Brock's expression hardened, but there was a flicker of admiration in his eyes as he watched Alexander and Blastoise.

"Onix, don't let up! Use Rock Throw!" Brock commanded his voice steady despite the storm.

Onix coiled back, lifting boulders with its massive tail and hurling them toward Blastoise with incredible force. The rocks cut through the rain, each one crashing into the muddy ground with earth-shaking impact.

Alexander's hand shot forward, pointing toward the incoming barrage. "Blastoise, let's show them what the rain can do! Hydro Pump—full power!"

Blastoise roared in response, his cannons locking onto the oncoming boulders. With a thunderous blast, twin jets of water erupted from his cannons, slicing through the air with precision. The sheer force of the Hydro Pump shattered the boulders mid-air, sending shards of rock flying harmlessly to the ground. The crowd erupted in cheers, their excitement electrified by the clash of power.

Brock grit his teeth, the corner of his mouth twitching into a smirk. "Not bad, Alexander. But Onix can take more than that. Onix, charge in with Tackle!"

Onix surged forward again, its massive body undeterred by the rain as it barreled toward Blastoise with earth-shaking speed.

Alexander's grin didn't waver. With Rain and Muddy Field, the already slow Onix will be even slower.

"Blastoise, dodge it and counter with Skull Bash!"

Blastoise's bulky frame shifted as he narrowly avoided Onix's charge, water splashing around him as he used the slick battlefield to his advantage. Pivoting quickly, Blastoise lowered his head and surged forward, his Skull Bash glowing faintly as he slammed into Onix's side with immense force. The collision sent a shockwave through the stadium, and Onix stumbled, its towering form swaying as it struggled to regain balance.

The announcer's voice boomed through the speakers, barely audible over the storm. "What an exchange! Blastoise lands a direct hit with Skull Bash, but can Onix recover?"

Onix let out a defiant roar, its determination mirroring its trainer's, but the toll of the rain and Blastoise's relentless attacks was becoming evident. Its movements were slower, its strength waning.

Alexander seized the moment, his voice ringing out with the confidence of a Champion.

"Blastoise, it's time to end this! Use Surf!" Alexander shouted, his voice rising above the roaring storm.

Blastoise roared in response, stomping one foot into the ground. The rain pooled and swirled around him, forming a massive wave of water that seemed to rise from the battlefield itself. The crowd gasped in awe as the towering wave grew larger, reaching almost the height of Onix, churning with the full force of the storm.

Brock's eyes widened, and he instinctively raised an arm to shield himself from the spray. "Onix, hold your ground!" he called, but his voice carried a note of hesitation.

Blastoise unleashed the wave with a powerful motion, sending it crashing toward Onix with unrelenting force. The enormous wave engulfed the battlefield, washing over Onix and sweeping the massive Rock Snake Pokémon off its coils. Onix roared in defiance, but the combined weight of the water and the rain's amplifying effects were too much.

The wave receded; leaving Onix sprawled on the muddy battlefield. Its body twitched weakly before falling still, the rain continuing to fall heavily around it.

The announcer's voice boomed through the stadium. "Unbelievable! Blastoise's Surf has taken down Brock's Onix in spectacular fashion! What a move!"

The crowd erupted into thunderous cheers, their excitement shaking the stands as Blastoise stood tall, panting but victorious.

Brock retrieved Onix, his face a mixture of respect and amazement. "That was incredible"

Blastoise turned to Alexander, his eyes filled with pride despite his exhaustion.

Alexander pumped his fist in the air, flipping his wet hair back as he grinned down at his partner. "That's what I'm talking about, big guy! We showed!"
