Pokemon: Behold the Father of All Pokemons

Chapter 48: Chapter 47: Special Fire Brigade

Ethan leaned back in his leather office chair and stared at the headline on his computer screen: The emergence of Squirtle once again draws worldwide attention.

He rubbed his temples, thinking about how these little creatures, barely bigger than a house cat, had become a worldwide sensation.

Their ability to store vast quantities of water in their bodies was both puzzling and amazing. Online, people called him a wizard and referred to Pichu, Squirtle and other bio-creations as "Pokémons.

The chatter never stopped. Whenever people mentioned Pichu and Squirtle, it was always with a sense of wonder.

Some even began using the nickname "Hand of God" when talking about Ethan, a nickname previously reserved for Robert, the brilliant chairman of the Northam Group.

Rumors also circulated about Northam's attempts to buy Ethan's technology.

Ethan remembered the day he turned down their generous offer, surprising them enough to publicly admit they lacked the same expertise in this new field. It wasn't often that you saw a top biotech company admit to such a shortcoming, especially after back-to-back breakthroughs.

Ethan couldn't deny that he felt a twinge of pride. Even the mighty Northam Group, recognized as the largest in the biotech industry, had been left scratching their heads. Everywhere he turned, on social media, in boardrooms, on college campuses, people were debating Squirtle's implications for genetic engineering.

Early the next morning, Secretary Elijah stopped by to hand Ethan his schedule. Before he could look at it, an unexpected letter arrived from the International Genetic Engineering Exchange Conference.

It came directly from the Association. Of course, they didn't want to overlook a bio-designer who was making headlines all over the world. Fortunately, the invitation didn't require him to make a formal presentation. Ethan planned to go, show his face, and avoid the spotlight unless absolutely necessary. Having Secretary Elijah with him would make that easier.

But first, he had another pressing task: finishing the promotional video for Squirtle's collaboration with the local fire department. For the past two days, Ethan and his small team had been editing various clips. Now, in his office, he was clicking through the final video files on his laptop. Annie stood next to him, excitement dancing in her eyes.

After adding an upbeat track to accompany the footage, Ethan found himself smiling. It was remarkable how the right music and sharp editing could transform a short clip into something unforgettable.

"This version feels better," he said, pausing the video at a dramatic moment. "What do you think, Annie?"

"Play it again," she replied, looking a little embarrassed. "I want to make sure I didn't miss any details."

Ethan obliged and played the clip from the beginning.

---

The video opened on a sunlit pool where about a dozen Squirtle were splashing around. They made playful sounds, paddling their feet in the water with gleeful abandon. For the first ten seconds or so, viewers were treated to a relaxed scene of Squirtle at play. Then came a sudden cut to a fire department receiving an urgent call: a building in Tarvok City had gone up in flames.

Serious-looking firefighters raced to their trucks, but traffic was a nightmare. As the flames grew, the fire chief grabbed his radio and barked, "Notify the Squirtle Special Fire Brigade!"

The camera cuts back to the pool, where all the Squirtle perked up at the shrill whistle. Despite their shells, they sprang into action surprisingly quickly. Water splashed as they climbed to the edge of the pool.

Another transition brought viewers into the fire, an inferno lighting up the sky. Engines roared from offscreen as motorcycles screeched to a halt. Rousing music began. A team of blue-clad figures leapt into view, and the camera zoomed in on the underside of a Squirtle before panning up to reveal his signature sunglasses. In quick succession, the video highlighted each Squirtle in the lineup, all wearing matching shades. At the command of firefighters, they unleashed a powerful water stream that doused the flames in seconds.

The final shot faded into two logos: the Tarvok City Fire Department and Pokémon Biotechnology.

---

"I love it," Annie said, her cheeks glowing. "When they show up in those sunglasses? That's pure gold."

Ethan nodded. "Awesome. Let's send this over to the fire department for approval."

He couldn't help but grin. Those shades had been his idea, inspired by an old anime he used to watch. Seeing it come to life in this promo was surreal and satisfying.

Barely ten minutes after emailing the clip, they received a thumbs up from their contact, Zidaine Coleman. He confirmed that the short video would soon be posted on the Tarvok City Fire Department's official Weibo account.

Half an hour later, Annie rushed over, phone in hand. "Ethan, look! They already posted it and it's exploding! Should we post it on our page too?"

Ethan took her phone and scanned the feed. Sure enough, the Tarvok City Fire Brigade account had shared the clip with the caption:

"The Tarvok City Fire Brigade may add a special unit, the Squirtle Fire Brigade!"

"Tell our people to repost," he said, handing the phone back. Within minutes, the post had more likes than the fire department had ever seen.

Comments poured in, some hilarious, others genuinely intrigued:

"Haha, that close-up of Squirtle in glasses is priceless!"

"Yes, please! Every city should have a Squirtle Fire Department."

"That traffic jam scene is real. This could be a game changer."

"Their water capacity is insane. They'd be so useful!"

Some netizens took screenshots of the Squirtle Squad and turned them into memes with lines like "Big Brothers, Let's Go!" or "Rush, Rush, Rush!" Any skeptics were drowned out by the viral wave of enthusiasm.

Soon, the official Pokémon Company page picked it up and re-shared the video, increasing the number of likes from ten thousand to over a hundred thousand in less than an hour.

Fire departments from neighboring regions began to respond, jokingly asking how they could get their own Squirtle squads.

While some accused the video of being a marketing stunt, the Tarvok City Fire Department clarified on their page:

"Currently we have a preliminary plan and are applying for funding. If you're curious, follow us for updates, who else wants to see a Squirtle team in action?"

The public response was overwhelmingly positive. People found the concept both charming and practical for a small, water-wielding Pokémon to help in emergencies. By late afternoon, the Fire Department's social media pages had gained an astounding number of new followers, all thanks to the cheerful little Squirtle.

Ethan set his phone down, a small smile on his face. He hadn't expected the video to explode in popularity so quickly, but it was clear that Squirtle was capturing hearts wherever it went. From scientific debates about its biology to the idea of a Pokémon-based rescue team, the world couldn't seem to get enough.

He paused to appreciate how an idea that had recently existed only in his lab had now been embraced by the public. On his desk, an invitation to the Gene Biotechnology Exchange Conference served as a formal nod to his achievements.

But what really pleased him at that moment was to see how far an imaginative concept could go to spread wonder, spur innovation, and bring a little fun to people around the world.
