Pokemon: Arceus' Champion

Chapter 244: Manly Men

"You've gotta be shitting me." I swore as we all looked at the pokemon that was currently standing in the middle of the road.

"Mime. Mime. Mime." The pokemon said as it nonchalantly placed it's hands on nonexistent walls.

"Its a Mr. Mime!" Lillie exclaimed in front of me.

"Mime?" It asked while looking up at us.

I watched as the Mr. Mime, which I was SURE was the one who ended up staying with Ash's mom in the anime, looked at each and every one of the girls before focusing me. And when it did, I swore to fucking Arceus that I saw the fucking thing smirk.

"Yeah. Fuck that. Deal with this Croagunk." I said while tossing out a pokeball.

"Croa." Croagunk croaked, before shooting right at Mr. Mime.

"Mime?!" It cried in alarm, before quickly making motions like there were walls in front of it.

"Croa!" Crogunk croaked as his fist collided with an invisible barrier, stopping it far from reaching Mr. Mime.

"Oh no! If only there was a move that could break through barriers!" I declared while glaring down at the Mr. Mime, who sneered back at me.

"Use Brick Break."

"!!!"

"CROA!"

*SMASH!*

Mr. Mime's barriers shattered like glass from Croagunk's fist, forcing it to go on the offensive as it fired off several Psybeam attacks at him.

"Dodge them."

"Croagunk!"

He deftly dodged all of the psychic type attacks with ease, weaving through them until he was right in front of Mr. Mime, who had a look of complete surprise right up until Croagunk hit it with a powerful Poison Jab.

"Miiiiiiiiiiime!" It wailed pitifully while flying back.

"Have one of these!" I yelled, throwing a pokeball at it since there was no way I was going to let it go anywhere near my home and mom. I'll figure out what to do with it after.

"Mime!" It cried out in alarm as the pokeball hit it. But then, right before it was sucked inside, I saw it look right at me with a victorious smirk.

*Tak.*

*Tak.*

*Tak.*

The pokeball clattered to the ground, where it shook for several seconds before finally falling still.

*Ding.*

"What the fuck." I swore yet again, as I recalled the look Mr. Mime had given me right before I caught it. As if it WANTED me to catch it.

"What was that about?" Misty asked me as I used my psychic power to pull the pokeball towards me.

"Did you not see the look it gave me?" I asked her back.

"What look?"

"It looked at each and every one of you, then looked at me and smirked."

"So?"

"SO, Mr. Mime are all males that are notorious for seducing their female trainers, sometimes even using their psychic powers to do so. Fuck."

I swore yet again, as realization dawned on me as to why Mr. Mime let me catch it. The damn thing wanted me to keep it around the girls.

"Yeah, not happening." I said while pocketing the ball, before pulling my phone out.

"Rotom."

"Yeah boss?"

"I need you to put an ad on Pokelist for me."

"Pokelist?"

"Yeah. Its a site used for trading pokemon all over the world. I want you post that I'm putting a freshly caught Mr. Mime up for trade. I'm not picky about what I get back, but I would prefer another psychic or fairy type like it." I stated, and Rotom did as I asked.

"Wow. You're taking this Mr. Mime thing seriously." May commented.

"Of course. There's no way I'm gonna leave that thing hanging around my home town. And theres no way I'm keeping it around any of YOU." I stated as if it were obvious, making the girls roll their eyes or smile wryly. Obviously they thought I was overreacting.

But I didn't care, as long as I got rid of the damned thing for good.

Rotom and I took a few minutes making sure we had the post regarding Mr. Mime right, before we all took off yet again as we headed north to Viridian.

After the run-in with Mr. Mime nothing too exciting happened as we traveled, aside from me giving Misty grief as we passed the spot where we first met, when she slapped me thinking I was Ash after he took her bike. I wonder what my little brother was doing now?

It was mid-afternoon when we arrived in Viridian, with notably better weather conditions than the last time, as we arrived at the Pokemon Center that I once saved from a Team Rocket attack.

"Ace!" Nurse Joy exclaimed as we walked through the doors, with Koraidon nestled within his pokeball once more.

"Hey Nurse Joy." I said with a wave as I greeted her, though both Lucario and I still gave her now Blissey a side eye. Said Blissey then proceeded to hold her little nubs up threateningly, as if to say she'd Double Slap the shit out of us if we tried anything.

"I've been hearing your name on the news quite a bit after you passed through before."

"Yeah. Quite a bit has happened. We're back now to challenge Karen." I told her, and Nurse Joy glanced at the girls gathered with me. I noticed her gaze linger on Joy for a second longer than anyone else though.

"I'll go ahead and register you all as challengers then. Would you like something to eat while I do so."

"Please."

"Understood. Blissey, please bring them to the commons and then take their order.

"Blissey bliss~!" The Happiness pokemon trilled happily as she led the way, though not before giving Lucario and I the stink eye one more time.

Soon we were all seated and gave Blissey our orders, letting her go to prepare our food while we waited.

"Hey Rotom, any repsonses to the ad about Mr. Mime." I asked my phone while pulling it out, figuring that I'd check while we were waiting for our food.

"You have thirty three responses to your ad, boss." Rotom answered.

"Nice~! There aught to be one worth replying to." I said while looking them over.

"Let's see... Abra, Chingling, Wobat, Audino, Gothita, Espurr, Flabebe... What's this?" I asked after listing off several of the offers I got, and ignoring the people offering me cash instead.

"'Honeysuckle Pokemon Sanctuary in Alola. Looking for a pokemon that can help take care of the other pokemon under our care. Will give you the choice between any of our pre-selected pokemon that you would like.' Interesting..." I read out loud, having Rotom actually look up the place in question to make sure that it wasn't a front or something.

"Does it have any connection to the Aether Foundation?" Lillie asked suddenly.

"Um... Nope. Its an independant group on Akala Island, owned and managed by a married couple. They say they want Mr. Mime for some extra hands to help around the place taking care of the other pokemon. I'd say its worth seeing which pokemon they have on offer."

Since our food will be a little while, I went to one of the video phones that all Pokemon Centers have to call the number they had listed.

"Hello hello~!" Answered a flamboyant voice as a man who was ridiculously ripped and wearing a shirt several sizes too small came onto the screen.

"Hello? Is this the Honeysuckle Pokemon Sanctuary?" I asked him warily.

"Yes~! I'm Darren, and my partner that I run the sanctuary with is Scotty~!"

"Ok. I'm Ace Ketchum."

"I know who you are cutie~! You're all the talk recently, riding a Zapdos into battle and so on~! So manly... Such a manly man~!"

"Right..."

I fought back a groan as Darren winked at me in what I supposed was supposed to be a flirtatious manner, and tried to keep us on track.

"You said in your response that I could choose the pokemon I get?"

"Yes~! I have them all with me, the little darlings~!" Darren declared, before moving so that I could see several pokemon behind them.

"And what brought them into your care? I only ask because as I trainer, I plan to use them in battle when need be."

"You don't need to worry about that~! All of these pokemon are ready to find themselves a new home out there in the world~! If they aren't then there is no way we would just send them off on their way~!"

Though I couldn't read his aura through the video phone, I decided that Darren probably wouldn't deceive me based on the fact that the pokemon he had all looked well taken care of and happy.

Among them were several pokemon that I recognized visually, but not much about their names or about them, along with some that I did recognize as well as Alolan regional variants.

"Hmmm..." I hummed in consideration as I looked the pokemon over. "Any psychic or fairy types?"

"We have a Morelull, Cutiefly.... And this little cutie here~!" Darren declared while bringing three pokemon in particular forward, the two he mentioned first, and one that surprised me.

"Is that a Vulpix?" I asked, except instead of the red-furred little fox that I knew of, this one was as white as snow.

"Yes she is~!"

"Vulpix here used to belong to one of our neighbors, an elderly couple. Unfortunately the wife fell ill, and passed away shortly afterwards. Then her husband entrusted her to us shortly after, before passing away himself of a broken heart." Darren told me with a solemn voice.

"Sounds sad. Are you sure you want to trade her away when she was entrusted to you?" I asked him.

"Of course~!" Darren declared, returning to his earlier peppy mood.

"Vulpix will never truly get to live if she's stuck here with us~! They would have wanted her to get and see the world in ways she never could with them, or with us~!"

"I see... And she's an ice type, right?" I asked him, recalling my lessons on Alolan Vulpix compared to Kantonian Vulpix.

"Yes she is~! But you just need to give her an Ice Stone, and she'll evolve into a beautiful Ninetails that will also gain the fairy typing~!"

"Really?" I asked, truly interested in her now. If that was the case, then Vulpix would be the perfect pokemon to have against dragon types once she evolved, and I have PLENTY of Ice Stones.

"Yep~! Now, may I ask about your Mr. Mime~?"

"Of course. I only caught it due to some circumstances, and can't quite keep it due to the fact that I don't really get along with Mr. Mime in general. So I decided to trade it instead to find a better home for it."

"I see~! Well we would be most happy to take him off of your hands~! Shall we start the trade~?"

We did, and soon, I had a brand new Alolan Vulpix while that little fucker was half a world away.

I bid Darren farewell, and promised to keep him and Scotty in mind if I ever had any other pokemon to trade in the future before quickly returning to the girls to find them digging in to their food, though they all stopped as I approached.

"How'd it go?" Dawn asked curiously.

"Good. I got quite the upgrade!" I stated, before activating the pokeball.

"Vuuuuuuul~!" Vulpix cried as she appeared beside me, her head high with pride as she surveyed us.

"OH. MY. GOSH!" May shrieked when she saw her, startling Vulpix slightly as she knelt down to pet her.

She wasn't the only either, as the rest of the girls also fawned over Vulpix, smothering the newest member of my team with attention before she could even get her bearings.

Unfortunately there was nothing to do but let them all get it out of their systems, even as I scanned Vulpix to see what she was actually capable of.

*Meanwhile, in Alola*

*BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!*

Booming music could be heard coming from a certain home for pokemon, along with lights of all colors as a disco ball spun in place.

Within, a Yungoos was standing on it's hind legs, waving back and forth with it's paws in the air like it was dancing. Four birds, Oricorio of different colors, danced elegantly with the booming music. And a Midnight Lycanroc was swinging it's head back and forth, shaking the glowsticks it had around it's neck.

"We are men. Manly men! We are men. Manly men! We are men. Manly men!"

In the middle of all this, a burly man that was shirtless was swinging his body around while singing in a deep voice, numerous glow sticks decorating his neck, wrists and even ankles.

"This is how we do things here newbie~! We work hard, and play even harder~! Think you can keep up~?" Darren asked as he went to dance with his partner.

Suddenly a new figure slid out onto the dance floor, also decorated with numerous glow sticks as they moved with the beat.

*PIRI PI PI! PIRI PI PI! PIRI PI PI!*

The trill of a nonexistant whistle joined the beat as Mr. Mime moved with the music, swinging his arms every which way as he danced.

Soon, he twirled himself dramatically onto a nonexistant chair, before reaching up and pulling on a nonexistant chain, triggering a nonexistant cascade of water to fall onto him from above.

Mr. Mime then looked up, directly into the nonexistant camera, and smirked victoriously.

"Manly men."
