Chapter 43: Capturing the Giant Dragonite (4)
"That's right, giant Dragonite! Did you need something from me?" Brock asked, looking at the enormous Dragonite before him.
Hearing Brock, the giant Dragonite let out a roar. Just then, Dragonite's voice sounded again in Brock's mind, "Kid! How did your chat with that System fellow go? Can you take me inside?"
Hearing the voice in his mind, Brock replied, "I'll go ask and see if I can take you in." After saying this, Brock entered his mindscape. He saw Bell standing there, seemingly lost in thought.
Subsequently, Brock walked over and asked, "Bell, what are you thinking about? Also, that giant Dragonite wants to know when you can bring him inside."
Hearing Brock, Bell put on an apologetic expression and said, "Host Brock, apologies. Since you haven't formally captured it with a Poké Ball, it cannot enter the system. Furthermore, the Poké Ball used to capture it must be one purchased from within the system."
Hearing Bell's words, Brock reproached him, "What?! Didn't you say upgrading the system would allow me to bring the giant Dragonite inside?! Bell, what do we do now? You figure it out!"
Hearing Brock, Bell lowered his head and said, "Host Brock, there is one other method... You can exchange external items for points. As long as you gather one thousand points, you can buy a Master Ball." After speaking, Bell lowered his head even further, afraid Brock would blame him again.
Hearing Bell's suggestion, Brock went into the function menu and opened the Recycle function inside. He then saw the function allowing item exchange for points. After opening the function, Brock asked Bell, "Bell, how exactly do I exchange items for points?"
Hearing Brock, Bell didn't raise his head but simply answered, "Host Brock, isn't there an 'Item Exchange' function there? You open it, then select an item, and you can exchange it for points. After the exchange, the item you exchanged will disappear. Also, the item must be within one meter of you."
Hearing Bell's answer, Brock thought, This is great! If I went to a shopping mall and stole things, using this function would mean no one could ever catch the culprit! After finishing this thought, Brock proceeded according to Bell's instructions.
Brock opened the function and exchanged the only two empty Poké Balls he had left on him. Just then, a line of text appeared before Brock's eyes:
Empty Poké Ball x2 can be exchanged for 2 points. Does the player wish to exchange?
After reading the text, Brock clicked "Yes". Subsequently, the points balance on the Points System showed: 2.
Brock then exited his mindscape, felt his pocket, and discovered the Poké Balls really were gone. He re-entered his mindscape and saw Bell still standing there with his head lowered, lost in thought.
Brock walked over and asked, "Bell, how many points does an empty Poké Ball sell for in this system's shop?"
Hearing the question, Bell answered fearfully, "Host Brock... an empty Poké Ball sells for 100 points in this shop."
Hearing Bell's answer, Brock erupted, "Bell! This system of yours is such a rip-off! On what basis does buying a Poké Ball from you cost 100 points, while recycling one only gets me one point?!"
Hearing Brock, Bell gave a reply that left Brock speechless, "Host Brock, if you dislike the low exchange points, you can choose not to exchange! Besides, I didn't force you to exchange. Today's incident with the giant Dragonite was just a small mistake, that's all."
Hearing Bell's words, Brock thought for a moment and decided not to say anything further. He then went back to exchanging items, looking to see what else he had that could be exchanged. Brock checked the list of exchangeable items related to himself and was shocked:
Worn clothes, exchangeable for 1 point.
Worn shoes, exchangeable for 1 point.
One belt, exchangeable for 1 point.
One giant Dragonite, exchangeable for 1 point.
After seeing this information, Brock shouted loudly at Bell, "Bell! Why is the exchange value for all items only 1 point?!"
Hearing Brock, Bell replied, "Host Brock, I don't know about this either! That's why I was standing there with my head lowered; I was trying to figure out how to answer your question! I'm sorry, Host! Due to my mistake, I've caused you a great loss."
Hearing Bell, Brock replied, "Forget it, Bell. I don't blame you for this matter anymore. Tell me, if I were to exchange that giant Dragonite... what would happen to it?"
Hearing Brock's question, Bell was stunned. He then quickly said, "Host Brock! Absolutely do not exchange him! If you exchange him, he will simply disappear from this world! Meaning... he would die!"
Hearing Bell, Brock exclaimed, "Damn! That powerful?! If anyone dares bully me, I'll just exchange them! Also, Bell, can you initiate an exchange using my items or items near me?"
Bell replied, "If I were to exchange items, Host Brock would need to be touching the item with your hand, and you would also need to give your consent. Host Brock, if you do it yourself, you just need to enter the mindscape, open the function, and agree to the exchange."
Hearing Bell, Brock exited his mindscape. He saw the enormous head of the Dragonite still looking at him. Seeing it, Brock said, "Dragonite, you'll have to wait here for me for a few more minutes. I'll be right back. When I return, I'll be able to take you inside."
After speaking, Brock headed towards the lighthouse. As Brock was running, a voice entered his mind, "Alright. But you need to be quick."
By now, Brock had returned inside the lighthouse. He saw Ash and the others chatting somewhere. Brock walked over and asked, "Ash! Melanie! Misty! Daisy! Dr. Bill! How are my Pokémon doing?"
Hearing Brock's voice, Ash and the others turned their heads together and saw Brock walking towards them. Melanie then answered, "Brock, your Pokémon are all safe now. They're still resting in the room."
Hearing Melanie, Brock replied, "Sigh! As long as they're alright, I can rest assured. Ash! Misty! Daisy! Do you have anything in your backpacks that you don't temporarily need? Can you give it to me? I need it for something."
Hearing Brock's request, Ash and the others told Brock about some items they weren't currently using. After hearing them, Brock went to find their backpacks, then located the items they had mentioned were temporarily unneeded.
After a little while, Brock had exchanged all those items. Subsequently, the points balance inside Brock's system showed: 1202. Seeing his points were now enough to buy a Master Ball, Brock stopped looking for things to exchange.
Brock then ran back out of the lighthouse and approached the giant Dragonite again. He entered his mindscape, opened the Shop function, found the page for buying a Master Ball, and then clicked on the Master Ball. A line of text appeared before Brock:
Purchasing a Master Ball requires 1000 points. Do you wish to purchase the Master Ball?
