It has black fur covering its entire body, complemented by a white, scattered mane resembling a delicate white flower. Its round head is adorned with a pair of sharp, spear-like black ears.
The cochlea glows an orangutan red, while its semicircular ruby-red eyes gleam intensely. An inverted triangle-shaped ruby is embedded prominently on its forehead.
Its tail is adorned with red fluff, from which two slender, spear-like extensions emerge. The triangular ends of these tails sway unpredictably, adding to its intimidating appearance.
"Eevee has evolved?! I've never seen an Eevee evolve like this before!" Misty exclaimed, her voice filled with astonishment as she stared at the strange Pokémon before her.
"Hmm, this is new to me as well," Brock said with a slight nod, his expression serious.
Even Ash couldn't hide his surprise. "This… doesn't match anything I know," he muttered, his gaze fixed on the mysterious evolution before him.
The Pokémon before them wasn't just an Eevee anymore. It radiated an indescribable aura, evoking an unsettling feeling that made it seem like an emissary of the underworld—minus the wings. Its forked tail and spear-like appendages, combined with its piercing scarlet eyes, sent shivers down anyone who looked at it for too long.
In Ash's memory, Eevee's known evolutionary forms were simple enough to categorize: Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon—the classic trio. Then came the second generation, introducing Espeon and Umbreon, whose evolution depended on time and friendship. Later, Leafeon and Glaceon arrived, requiring environmental influences like special stones or specific locations.
The most recent addition Ash could recall was Sylveon, introduced in the XY series as a Fairy-type evolution. Its evolution required an Eevee to develop strong bonds of friendship while mastering Fairy-type moves, making it the most challenging evolution route of all.
But the form before them didn't resemble any of these known evolutions.
"Could the Dusk Stone have caused this?" Ash wondered aloud. The Dusk Stone was a mysterious item known to trigger evolutions, but only for specific Pokémon such as Murkrow, Misdreavus, and Lampent. In Ash's experience, Eevee had never been able to use a Dusk Stone.
"If this is a new evolution, it's nothing like what I've seen before," he mused, his mind racing to piece together the mystery. Could this form be unique to this world—or was it a complete anomaly?
The Eevee's ominous form remained a stark enigma, its unrelenting stare leaving the group with more questions than answers.
In other words, this is likely an evolutionary form that Eevee might acquire in the future. After all, everything about this scenario seems too coincidental to ignore.
Given Eevee's natural adaptability and its diverse evolutionary paths, it isn't surprising that new forms could arise. Eevee has always been one of the most unique Pokémon, with its ability to evolve into various types. Perhaps in the future, Eevee's evolution via the Dusk Stone will be officially introduced into its lore.
But this evolution raises questions: what is its type, its Ability, and even its name? If it evolved using the Dusk Stone, it would likely align with Dark or Ghost types, as most Pokémon that evolve via this stone belong to one of those categories. Ash mused, "Devileon" might be a fitting placeholder name—it matches its appearance and the eerie vibe it exudes.
"Y… Boo, are you alright?" Ash called out softly as he cautiously approached.
Eevee—or rather, the newly evolved Pokémon—locked its scarlet eyes on Ash. Memories of the earlier battle flashed in its mind: Ash rushing toward it, risking his safety to shield it from harm and holding it close despite the overwhelming force.
The Devileon's expression softened. Though its exterior was intimidating, Ash's familiar voice and gentle demeanor brought it comfort. It closed its eyes briefly, then leaned forward, nuzzling against Ash's outstretched hand.
Seeing this, Misty and Brock let out a collective sigh of relief. "Looks like everything's fine now," Misty said, her voice filled with reassurance.
"It's a miracle," Brock agreed. "Eevee's evolved into something we've never seen before—a blessing in disguise."
Ash smiled, gently petting its head. "That's good. I was so worried."
"But what do we call it now? It's not really an Eevee anymore," Misty said, studying the Pokémon. "I've never seen anything like this before."
"Me neither," Brock added thoughtfully.
"Well… for now, let's call it 'Devileon.' That works, doesn't it?" Ash suggested. The name fit its dark fur and ominous appearance.
The newly evolved Pokémon didn't seem to mind, giving a slight nod in agreement.
"Pika-pika!" Pikachu called out, hopping toward its newly evolved friend to greet it.
The Devileon turned its head toward Pikachu, baring its sharp fangs in a playful but fierce expression.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu replied confidently, flicking its tail in response. The Devileon huffed arrogantly, glancing away as if uninterested, but then slyly extended its long tail to touch Pikachu's, revealing a playful side.
"Hahaha!" Ash, Misty, and Brock burst into laughter at the sight. Despite its new form, its personality hadn't changed much.
Eevee's unexpected evolution was a blessing amidst the chaos. Though they missed the festival at Maiden Rock, the night had become unforgettable. By the time the group arrived at the Pokémon Center, it was already early morning.
At the Center, Ash handed the Devileon over to Nurse Joy for a thorough checkup, ensuring there were no lingering effects from the mysterious energy. Then, the group checked in for the night, exhausted from the day's events.
Before heading to bed, Ash made a mental note to contact Professor Oak in the morning. Determining this Pokémon's type and Ability was crucial—if it was an entirely new discovery, it would need to be officially registered.
As the three friends drifted off to sleep, the mysterious Devileon rested beside them, marking the end of a night they would never forget.
