Chapter 256: refuse to go to the death party

But all the requests for this were temporarily put on hold.

It is almost like they have already known that something would happen at Hogwarts.

Hermione did not know if the know the things in advance or not.

But she was sure that they have some inkling of thoughts.

So she kept quiet about this matter.

She did not care about this matter.

As a candidate for petrifaction she should be very careful during this year.

Since there is plot for her, the system would try to fulfill that plot.

She has to avoid it carefully through planning and prudence in her actions.

For the coming month she did not do anything other than playing around in the day time, learning more about the things for the coming years.

She specifically did not go to the bathroom with the ghost in fear that she would be petrified or dead.

Well she will not die if the plot still wants her.

But being petrified will not be a good experience.

Soon the Halloween is coming.

In return for distracting Argus Filch just when he is about to give Harry severe punishment, Harry promises he will come to Nearly Headless Nick's Death day Party on Halloween. 

It is the 500th Death day for Nearly Headless Nick.

He wanted to bring Hermione and Ron along with him.

But Hermione directly refused saying that she fears ghosts very much and she don't want to go there.

So he brings only Ron along with him to the party on 31st October that is the Halloween to attend Nick's Death day Party in the dungeons.

While there, Ron and harry meet Moaning Myrtle. 

The two of them quickly get sickened by the ghostly party and return to the Great Hall.

Hermione on the other hand enjoyed the delicacies of the party of Halloween in the great hall.

Before they get to the Halloween feast, Harry hears the voice again which Ron cannot hear and follows it to the second floor.

Here he finds the bathroom flooded and Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat, hanging from a torch bracket, petrified and next to her, a threatening message is written on the wall.

"THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE". 

Then, students leaving the Halloween Feast surround them and Draco yelled. 

"Enemies of the Heir, beware! You'll be next, Mudbloods!"

Since Harry is discovered at the scene of the crime and students started to suspect him to be the heir of Salazar Slytherin. 

Harry and his friends, meanwhile, begin to suspect Draco Malfoy.

Filch and Snape also try to get Harry in trouble for what happened, but Dumbledore says that it is powerful dark magic that no second year student could perform. 

They decide that Professor Sprout's mandrakes will be used, once they are mature enough, to create a draught that can revive Mrs. Norris.

On November 4th, Hermione wants to research the Chamber, so she persuades Professor Binns the History of Magic teacher into telling the class about it. 

He explains that one of the founders of Hogwarts, Salazar Slytherin, got into an argument with the others about whether Muggle born wizards and witches should be admitted. 

When the rift grew too large, he left the college. According to legend, as a going-away present to the college, he built a secret chamber that could only be opened by his true heir. 

This "Chamber of Secrets" contains a monster that only the Heir of Slytherin can control and that, once released, would purge the college of all Muggle born wizards and witches. 

Binns unsuccessfully tries to assure the class that the Chamber does not actually exist and that the college has been searched many times in vain.

But Hermione thinks that they know about the chamber of secrets but they don't want to put too much effort into discovering it.

This would attract the attention of others and it would ruin the reputation of the college.

This Dumbledore don't want to happen while he is the headmaster of the college.

They are completely selfish people that disregard the lives of the people for their face and pride.

Just the point that the case of the death from basilisk was not solved by many decades proves this point.

Also it is even clearer when just the second year students can solve this case showed how much effort they put into investigating this matter.

Harry, Ron and Hermione decide that the heir is probably Draco Malfoy. 

Even though Hermione knows that he is not the heir of Slytherin she did not speak about this matter.

Naturally she cannot saw that the reasoning of Harry and Ron cannot be refuted.

Since everyone in his family have been sorted into Slytherin House, he is a Pureblood supremacist, and because his father worked for Voldemort. 

It is time for her to shine so she gave a suggestion.

To try to confirm it, Hermione proposes to use Polyjuice Potion, which can change a person into somebody else for an hour. 

For that naturally they need the permission of a professor to get to potion information from the restricted section of the library.

For that she volunteered to get the signature of Professor Lockhart.

She then flirted with Lockhart but she was unable to pull him under her skirt at that time.

After getting Lockhart's signature to check out the book Moste Potente Potions from the Restricted Section that has the recipe. 

Hermione warns them that the potion will take a month to brew, supposing they gather all the necessary ingredients, two of which can only be found in Snape's private inventory. 

Since no one comes into Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, the three of them decide it is the best place to brew the potion unnoticed. 

Hermione begins working with the ingredients they have.

Naturally Hermione could not concoct the potion here because she fears that the basilisk would come out and turn her into stone.

Staying here not knowing about the basilisk is one thing.
