Chapter 18: CHAPTER 18
"Master Supreme Kai, what… what should we do now?"
Kibito still wore a thoroughly stunned expression.
In tens of thousands of years, nothing like this had ever happened.
The legendary, virtually indestructible Z Sword the sacred blade of the Supreme Kais.had been broken.
And even Supreme Kai Shin, known here as Supreme Kai Asin, stood frozen in disbelief. Never in all his divine life had he witnessed such a situation.
Just as the two gods stood lost in confusion, a sudden, unexpected presence appeared behind them.
An old man short, hunched, with a comically wrinkled face and a lecherous gleam in his eyes shuffled onto the scene, his hands clasped behind his back.
"Where did this old geezer come from all of a sudden? And why is he wearing the same outfit as those two so-called gods?"
Android 18 glanced over at the mysterious newcomer, eyebrow raised.
There had been no warning his appearance was instantaneous.
"He's a god too," Linze replied calmly. "Actually, he's the one I came here to find."
The old man who had emerged from thin air was none other than the Old Supreme Kai—the deity sealed inside the Z Sword eons ago.
According to legend, Beerus, the God of Destruction, had sealed him inside the blade during an argument possibly over something as trivial as a joke or a comment about women.
Whether or not that tale was entirely accurate remained unclear, but the connection was logical. In the cosmology of the Dragon Ball universe, each God of Destruction shares a life-link with a Supreme Kai—if the Supreme Kai dies, the corresponding Destroyer perishes as well.
So it made sense that Beerus would have found it necessary to neutralize a Kai he deemed irritating.
And Linze hadn't come to the Sacred World of the Kais for the sword itself but rather, to awaken the Old Supreme Kai. His goal was to seek information, perhaps even about the long-speculated Super Saiyan 5, a form barely hinted at in Saiyan legend.
As Linze and Android 18 conversed, Supreme Kai Asin and Kibito quickly turned their attention to the aged figure before them.
"Excuse me, elder… who exactly are you?"
Supreme Kai Asin looked the old man up and down, eyes narrowing in uncertainty.
His clothing was unmistakably that of a Supreme Kai—purple robes, Potara earrings but despite having lived in the Realm of the Kais for countless millennia, Shin had never seen this man before.
"Hmm? Are you speaking to me?"
The old man scratched his chin and then smirked.
"The name's Petourō though most would know me better as the Supreme Kai from fifteen generations ago."
He narrowed his eyes, puffing out his chest with a touch of smug pride.
"You understand now, don't you?"
"Fif… fifteen generations ago?!"
The words hit Asin and Kibito like a thunderbolt. Their eyes widened with pure astonishment.
They had studied the lineage of Supreme Kais for centuries but not once had they heard of such a figure.
The very idea that a former Supreme Kai sealed away since before recorded divine history had been right under their feet all along was staggering.
Linze stepped forward calmly, brushing past the dumbstruck Asin and Kibito. He walked directly up to the old Kai and smiled.
"I've heard your name spoken with reverence, Old Supreme Kai. It's an honor."
"Huh? You're a Saiyan?" the old man asked, raising an eyebrow. "And you… you knew I was still alive?"
His expression shifted into one of genuine surprise.
After all, he had been sealed in the Z Sword for millions of years, ever since the days when even the Gods of Destruction were far less active. He had long since lost track of time inside the blade's dimensional seal.
And now this mortal Saiyan stood before him, not only aware of his existence but actively seeking him out?
The Old Supreme Kai had a feeling things were about to get very, very interesting.
Moreover, it was peculiar his junior, the current Supreme Kai, had never even heard of him, yet this Saiyan mortal knew who he was?
Wasn't the average human lifespan barely a century?
Unless, of course, the human in question had some extraordinary lineage or belonged to a hybrid bloodline, granting extended vitality or memory retention.
"Obviously," Linze replied with a slight smile. "If I hadn't known about you, I guess you'd still be sealed inside the Z Sword to this day."
"You were the one who freed me from the Z Sword?" the Old Supreme Kai blinked, incredulous.
"Tch. And here I thought it was these two fools who finally did something useful," he muttered while shooting a disdainful look at Supreme Kai Asin and Kibito.
His tone was heavy with frustration like a teacher who had just realized his best students had flunked every test.
To think the most divine beings in the Universe had to rely on a mortal to unseal him…
How utterly humiliating.
"I'm here with a purpose," Linze said calmly. "The Old Supreme Kai is known for his ancient knowledge. I'm hoping you can help me."
There was no need to flatter the old deity. Linze was here for answers, not ceremonies.
"Help, huh?" The Old Supreme Kai rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Well, since you're the one who broke the seal and let me out of that cursed blade, I suppose I owe you at least that much!"
He pounded his chest with a wrinkled hand, looking far too confident for someone who had just been rescued from millennia of imprisonment.
"Besides, there's hardly a thing in this universe I don't know."
"Haha!"
Right as the Old Supreme Kai finished his bold proclamation, Linze clenched his fists, and in an instant, an overwhelming golden aura exploded from his body—like a tidal wave of energy surging through the entire realm.
Then, in front of the stunned eyes of the gods, his form began to change.
His musculature expanded, his height increased by over 30 centimeters, and a thick coat of crimson fur blanketed his body. His eyes glowed with golden irises, while his eye sockets turned blood red, radiating power. A long, red-furred tail uncoiled behind him, flicking lightly with every breath he took.
"This… what in the name of the Kais…?!"
Supreme Kai Asin and Kibito were rooted in place—paralyzed by the sheer force of Linze's transformation. The very air around them was crackling. His energy filled the entire Sacred World of the Kais.
This wasn't just power, it was domination.
It felt like a divine presence that eclipsed their own.
"Unbelievable," the Old Supreme Kai gasped. "A Saiyan… with energy like this… in this Universe?"
He could barely keep his mouth closed.
The Saiyan race had long been known as a warrior people. He remembered them clearly from tens of thousands of years ago, even back when Planet Sadala still existed in Universe 7. Back then, they were strong but never like this.
Not this level of raw, overwhelming power.
"I studied the Saiyan bloodline in detail back in the old days," the Old Supreme Kai muttered. "Especially when they started becoming a threat to balance. But even in my time, nothing like this form existed…"
"This is Super Saiyan Tier 4," Linze said firmly. "Also known as Super Saiyan IV."
He stood tall and unmoved, his aura still burning like a solar storm.
"To put it bluntly, the reason I came to find you… is to ask if you have any knowledge of this fourth level of the Super Saiyan transformation. How it truly works and how to evolve it even further."
Linze's tone was direct and without pretense.
In Universe 7, aside from Whis, the Old Supreme Kai was arguably one of the most ancient and knowledgeable beings in existence.
He had access to historical records even the current Supreme Kai didn't know existed. If anyone could explain how to unlock the secrets of Super Saiyan IV or even beyond, it would be him.
But if the Old Supreme Kai had no answers...
Then Linze would have no choice but to forge the path himself.
