Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Battle Against Uchiha Tekka
Chapter 45: Battle Against Uchiha Tekka
Genichi had absolutely no recollection of a character like Shimura Torii. But he did remember Uchiha Tekka. In the future, he would be a core member of the Uchiha clan, a wielder of the three-tomoe Sharingan, a Konoha Jonin, and a key figure in the Military Police Force who once kept a close watch on Itachi.
Genichi had never imagined that this guy would be in the same year as him.
"Genichi, you have to be careful. Tekka is a genius of our Uchiha clan. He is proficient in genjutsu, swordsmanship, and Fire Release. He has a one-tomoe Sharingan right now," Namiichi Uchiha warned him. "If we were the same age, I would be no match for him."
Namiichi was currently seventeen, while Uchiha Tekka was ten. He was very famous within the Uchiha clan.
"Thanks, I understand!" Genichi nodded, then leaped down from the spectator stands.
Uchiha Tekka had a small black mole on his glabella and was a head shorter than Genichi. The two of them stood on opposite sides of the arena as indicated by the proctor.
"Ready!"
"Begin!" the proctor commanded.
The battle started, but Uchiha Tekka did not immediately charge forward. Instead, he leaped backward, and at the same time, with a flick of his hands, a volley of shuriken shot toward Genichi.
Genichi now carried two swords. A long sword hung at his waist, and a short sword was stuck in the back of his waistband. He immediately drew the short sword from his back and blocked all the shuriken.
After landing, Uchiha Tekka leaped into the air again, his shuriken continuing to fly, until Genichi was surrounded by a circle of them stuck in the ground.
When the last shuriken was knocked away, Genichi sheathed his sword and formed a seal without hesitation.
Water Release: Water Formation Wall!
Genichi opened his mouth and spat out a stream of water, which then formed a water curtain. It then began to rotate around his body, forming a circle, and the water spiraled upwards, finally converging at the top of his head. The complete defensive Water Formation Wall had formed an inverted, bell-like shape.
This scene shocked everyone who had never seen Genichi perform Water Release before. There was no water here!
In the air, Uchiha Tekka, who was holding steel wires that formed a net covering Genichi, was also somewhat shocked. But the arrow was already on the bowstring, and he had already secretly completed his hand seals. He immediately opened his mouth, and rolling flames spread rapidly down the steel wires.
Manipulating Windmill Triple Blades!
Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!
A signature technique of the Uchiha clan. Just seeing this move, Genichi knew that what Namiichi had said was true. That was why he had unhesitatingly sheathed his sword and used Water Release.
Uchiha Tekka's attack was undeniably powerful and immediately drew everyone's attention. When he pulled up the wires and formed a dense net that enveloped Genichi, everyone thought Genichi was doomed. Even the proctor had quietly raised his hand, ready to intervene and save him. He knew very well that once the wire technique was complete, it would inevitably be followed by the Uchiha clan's specialty, Fire Release.
But no one had expected Genichi to move so quickly, or for his Water Release to be so outstanding.
Is this a genin?
And the moment Genichi's water jutsu appeared, everyone's attention was captivated. Uchiha Tekka's wire technique was excellent and stylish; even the Jonin present might not be able to use it so well. But how could it compare to Genichi's Water Release?
In an instant, Genichi became the coolest kid in the arena.
Sarutobi Hiruzen watched and couldn't help but say, "Genichi's Water Release has improved again!" Compared to the last time, he could naturally see that Genichi's control over water had strengthened by more than just a little bit.
Hatake Sakumo smiled. "Genichi's talent in Water Release is extremely outstanding. He has the potential to surpass the Second Hokage."
Danzō watched Genichi, his eyes narrowed slightly. Of course, he didn't say anything about having Genichi join Root. Even if Hiruzen sent Genichi to Root, he wouldn't trust him.
Outstanding Water Release? Surpassing his master, the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama? So what? Did my master rely solely on Water Release? If he only relies on Water Release, Genichi's upper limit in the future will be a Jonin. He won't become a powerhouse like Sakumo. He won't become a being like one of the Sannin.
In Danzō's view, Genichi's performance was indeed stunning, even more so than Kakashi's earlier. But his potential was far less than Kakashi's.
...
In the arena, the rolling flames descended along the wires and collided with the water circling around Genichi, erupting with a roar and sending up a massive cloud of steam that obscured everyone's vision.
Uchiha Tekka landed on the ground, but his right hand gave another tug. Instantly, the steel wires began to constrict towards the center. This was just a Chunin Exam, not a fight against a real enemy, so he had previously only created a net to envelop Genichi before using Fire Release. That would have only given him minor injuries. This next step, however, could directly bind him with the wires.
Uchiha Tekka was shocked by Genichi's powerful Water Release, but his fighting spirit was also ignited. He now decided to go all out!
And in the billowing steam, the wires that had been invisible were now perfectly clear to Genichi. He once again drew his short sword, and with a hum, it was covered in a layer of Wind Release chakra. It wasn't that only chakra blades could be coated with chakra; it was just that chakra blades had less loss, could better bring out the power of the chakra, and could also be controlled from a distance to perform ninjutsu. Danzō had once used an ordinary kunai infused with wind chakra to form a vacuum blade. Killer Bee coated his pencil with lightning chakra and threw it straight through a large tree.
At this moment, Genichi also threw his short sword, easily cutting through one of the steel wires. The trap was instantly broken.
Uchiha Tekka felt the tension in the steel wires in his hand go slack and immediately understood. He let go of the wires, drew his own ninja blade, and charged.
At this moment, the steam was gradually dissipating.
Watching the charging Uchiha Tekka, Genichi decided he couldn't be bothered with a close-quarters sword fight anymore. With a sweep of his arms, the water vapor that had begun to disperse condensed back into water, which then spiraled upwards like a gyroscope before sweeping towards Uchiha Tekka in waves.
Uchiha Tekka's eyelids twitched wildly. He hurriedly swung his blade, and waves of fire and water collided, instantly sending up another cloud of steam. After cutting through the first wave of water, Uchiha Tekka immediately leaped to avoid the subsequent currents.
However, Genichi's seals didn't stop. Before he could even land, the water below him shot up into the sky, and then a water dragon materialized, opened its mouth, and bit down on him.
Uchiha Tekka's expression changed. He immediately abandoned his sword, formed hand seals, and spat out a line of fire that converged into a ball and then exploded.
The descending water dragon suddenly burst apart, and steam billowed up, with a large spray of water falling from the sky. Uchiha Tekka also fell from the sky, but at this moment, his face was red, and his exposed arms were as red as cooked shrimp.
He was injured! He had been scalded, although not seriously.
However, his eyes also met Genichi's.
Sharingan Genjutsu!
Genichi blinked, then formed the Tiger seal.
Genjutsu: Bringer-of-Darkness Technique!
Uchiha Tekka instantly became blind.
"This guy... he completely ignored my genjutsu! How is that possible?!" Uchiha Tekka was shocked. "And... this is... my vision has been stolen by him."
"This... could it be the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique? He's actually mastered such a super high-difficulty genjutsu!"
Uchiha Tekka was shocked again and again, and he froze on the spot. He was an Uchiha, yet he had been caught in a genjutsu by a genin younger than himself!
