Chapter 14: Sanju
Chapter 14: Sanju
Baphomet docked beside the Baratie.
The restaurant entrance was in chaos. Because Yasha had just one-shot an enemy warship, the Baratie became the only way for the drowning crowd to save their lives. As a result, the area was packed, and even some of the customers came out to watch the commotion.
The arrival of Luffy and his crew of five goddesses drew even more attention, but the crowd didn't dare to keep staring. Whether it was Luffy or the girls, they all carried an innate aura that made people admire from afar—but fear to offend.
Kaya sighed in relief.
"Thank God, everyone's life isn't in danger. They're all saved…"
Yasha raised her head proudly.
"Of course. My aim is accurate."
Black lines appeared on Kaya's forehead as she snorted at Yasha.
Suddenly, Luffy looked up at the sky, a gentle smile spreading across his face. He waved toward the clouds.
This aroused the curiosity of the other five girls. Following his gaze, they spotted a seagull in the sky, snapping photos in their direction.
Nami frowned, muttering in bewilderment:
"A seagull reporter? Why is he taking pictures of us…"
Yasha became excited.
"Should I just shoot it?"
Kaya quickly grabbed the rifle to stop her.
Kuina looked thoughtful.
"Is it because of what happened in Shells Town and Syrup Village?"
Zala looked genuinely interested.
"Does that mean we're about to get our own bounties?"
Luffy shared the same thought as Kuina.
"Maybe because we defeated Kuro and his Cat Pirates. The Navy branch probably sees us as a threat now. And as for what happened in Shells Town…"
He suddenly remembered that Garp had rushed to the East Blue to stop him from entering the Grand Line.
"You can't deny that possibility either."
After all, to relocate a seagull just to track his whereabouts, probably only a Vice Admiral would have that kind of connection and influence.
"Anyway, just strike your best pose. You wouldn't want to look ugly on your bounty poster."
The girls were momentarily stunned, but soon enough, they turned into catwalk models. Even Zala posed with her katanas, showing off her best angles.
The seagull seemed excited and took lots of pictures, even giving them a thumbs-up before flying away.
Inside the Baratie
The crew finally entered the Baratie's interior.
A pleasant aroma filled the air, making their eyes light up.
"Smells delicious… as expected from a famous restaurant."
The restaurant was large, warm, and comfortable. The tables were spaced apart to ensure every customer had privacy.
A muscular man with oversized forearms stood at the entrance in a waiter's outfit, smiling warmly.
"Welcome, welcome, customers!"
He guided them kindly through the restaurant and took them to an upscale room.
After handing them the menus, he stood silently, waiting for their orders.
Luffy skimmed the menu and casually said,
"Just bring out all your specialties. Money's not a problem."
The muscular man, Patty, beamed.
He knew it! These people looked rich and noble.
Aside from Luffy, who was still wearing his iconic Superman outfit, the girls were dressed in high couture. Because of their charm, Patty ignored Luffy's cheap clothes and assumed he was a low-key boss.
He rushed into the kitchen to ensure the meals were prepared properly.
"Sanju! You useless girl! Get back here! Big order, big order!"
Sanju, a short blonde-haired girl in a black suit with curly eyebrows, sat reading a magazine filled with skincare tips and photos of beautiful women.
She lazily raised her head.
After giving Patty a disgusted look, she rolled up her sleeves and walked to the stove.
"So many orders… are there a lot of people?"
Patty was immediately annoyed. He knew Sanju had some mental issues. She always talked about not wasting food, which he found irrelevant.
He replied perfunctorily,
"Yes, anyway, just hurry up and cook something delicious. Don't embarrass the restaurant."
Meanwhile, Nami looked around the nicely decorated room and complained,
"I've eaten here plenty of times, but I've never gotten this kind of treatment."
Kuina chuckled.
"Maybe because you looked poor, so they weren't interested in serving you."
Nami's lips twitched as she glared at Kuina. Ever since Kuina's transformation, she'd become more annoying—more annoying than Zala, even.
Zala smirked while Yasha and Kaya looked away.
Luffy was curious about Nami's past experiences here.
"Do you know any reliable chefs here? Preferably a woman."
Nami's eye twitched as if recalling something traumatic. Her body shuddered.
"Now that you mention it… the reason I didn't want you to come here is because there's a mentally deranged person in this place. Unfortunately, your 'female chef' description fits her perfectly."
Luffy was intrigued. He knew Sanji in his original world—a pervert, the ultimate simp. But Sanju?
The entire crew looked at Nami with interest. For her to react this way, this chef had to be something rare.
Nami sighed and whispered,
"Her name is Sanju. She's a beautiful blonde woman with weird curly eyebrows, but she's also a very talented chef."
Zala's interest was piqued.
"Curly eyebrows? Hahaha! What do they look like?"
Kuina shot Zala a glare.
"What are you laughing about?"
Zala couldn't stop.
"Curly… hahaha!"
Nami glared too.
"Shut up."
As she continued:
"Anyway, she's a strange narcissistic woman with a questionable sexual orientation…"
Suddenly, the door opened, and the very same girl described by Nami walked in, carrying trays full of dishes.
She paused.
Her gaze swept across everyone like a scanning laser.
Beautiful. Tall. Slim waist. Unbelievable curves.
Did they hear about me and come to court me? What should I do? They're all so beautiful… I can't pick just one! But they're so brave, coming all this way just for me! How can I be heartless? Maybe I should just start a harem…
Wait, who is this man?! What is he doing sullying this scene?
Wait… what's wrong with this man?!!
So charming… My heart is beating fast…
No! Stop!! Men or something—I hate them!!
Luffy watched Sanju's super-changing expressions and couldn't help but look weirded out.
The girls also stared at her strangely.
It seemed like Sanju had said all her inner thoughts aloud—only she probably thought she was just having an inner monologue.
Nami spread her hands.
"I told you…"
Everyone suddenly understood why Nami was so hesitant to come here before.
This girl is simply sick.
Kaya looked at Sanju with compassion.
"Mental health is a field I haven't studied yet. But I'll work hard."
Zala tried hard to suppress her laughter, while Yasha just stared in shock.
Even the bragging queen Yasha wasn't this outrageous.
Luffy found it amusing. He even wondered what kind of chemical reaction would happen if you threw a lesbian like Sanju onboard. The stalemate would definitely break somewhere.
Not to mention, this lesbian might even develop thoughts about the captain…
Sanju finished serving in a daze. She stood there for a moment, flushing and stealing glances at Luffy before forcing herself to turn toward the girls.
Don't look at the man! Look at the girls! They're beautiful! They crossed oceans and dangers just to see me! And I ended up like this…
What a disappointment.
With a pained expression, Sanju couldn't bear it anymore. She ran away with tears in her eyes.
Zala exploded with laughter.
"Captain! I approve this crew member!"
Kuina looked exasperated.
Nami rubbed her aching head while Yasha laughed heartily along with Zala.
Only Kaya showed resolve.
"Captain, please invite her onboard. As a doctor, I can't leave her like that."
Zala laughed even harder.
Even Luffy was speechless.
"Okay. Let's stay at this restaurant a bit longer."
After all, he wasn't planning to leave until he met Hawkeye. He was still curious about the power levels of this world and wanted a clear understanding of his crew's current strength.
Staying here was part of the plan.
