One Piece: Wind-Wind Fruit

Chapter 47: 47. Dominance

Aero's entire body shimmered fading, turning transparent as he vanished into the air.

The spot where he once stood now roared with an expanding tornado, growing larger by the second.

In the blink of an eye, Aero appeared above the cyclone. He extended both hands, and the whirlwind surged in size, expanding severalfold.

Beneath it, Arlong Park was utterly annihilated ripped from existence, swallowed by the storm, and reduced to drifting dust on the horizon.

Aero stared into the heart of the twister. Then he clenched his fists tightly and slammed them downward.

The towering cyclone crashed straight into the sea.

Underwater, Arlong's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched the swirling maelstrom tear through the ocean itself.

He felt nothing but fury, frustration, and helplessness.

The sea became chaotic. Fish, Fishmen nothing escaped the wrath of the wind.

Their proudest strength, underwater combat, was rendered meaningless in this unnatural storm.

Some tried to flee.

Most were caught and shredded by the raging vortex.

Few survived by some stroke of luck.

From a distance, the villagers of Cocoyashi Village saw the massive twister looming in the sky.

"W-What is that?!" someone cried.

Though they'd escaped far enough to avoid the core destruction, the winds still lashed at them forcing them to brace against the storm.

Genzo struggled to open his eyes against the wind, muttering: "This… this is the end of it all."

Then, despite the punishing gusts, cheers erupted from the villagers. They were knocked over, scattered like leaves, but they didn't care.

For the first time in seven years, Arlong's reign was truly over.

And Nami... Nami could finally return home not as a captive, but as a free villager.

The next time she returned, she'd be in for one hell of a surprise.

The enormous twister ravaged the sea for a while longer then gradually dissipated.

The Fishmen and the seawater that they had flung into the air came crashing down.

Some Fishmen floated unconscious.

Others sank silently below.

The clouds parted, the sun returned, and a radiant rainbow stretched across the horizon.

Dylan and Eddie returned to the ruins of Arlong Park and found Aero worn out, barely standing.

They caught him as he collapsed, each supporting one side.

Exhausted but satisfied, Aero looked up at the sky and smiled.

Soon, the villagers arrived.

They looked at what remained, nothing but rubble, and then back at the young man in the dark cloak.

Without warning, they surrounded the trio with weapons raised.

Aero blinked, confused.

But then, Genzo lowered his weapon and the others followed, dropping theirs to the ground.

In perfect unison, they bowed.

"Thank you… from the bottom of our hearts."

---

Two days passed.

Aero lay on the deck of his ship, lazily watching the soft blue sky.

Suddenly, a white carrier pigeon with a little cap fluttered down and landed beside him.

He tossed a coin, and it delivered today's newspaper.

Aero sat up and unfolded it eagerly.

The headline of the East Blue Times screamed:

"Shocking Upset: East Blue's Throne Overturned!"

The article detailed how Aero and his Hurricane Pirates defeated the long-feared Arlong Pirates of Cocoyashi Village.

Photos showed Arlong collapsed, Kuroobi unconscious in the park, and Hachi tied up and knocked out.

There was even a feature on Dylan and Eddie, introducing them as Aero's elite crew members.

Then Aero saw it.

Three brand new bounty posters.

—The first was his own.

Aero Aegis – 35,000,000 Berries

Why so high?

First, defeating Arlong, who had ruled East Blue unchecked for years.

Second, confirmation from Navy HQ that he was a Logia-type Devil Fruit user with control over wind, a dangerous, wide-scale power.

Second poster:

Dylan – 13,500,000 Berries

Famous for his ten-blade Cat Claw combat style. Officially recognized as a Hurricane Pirates officer.

Third poster:

Eddie Cahill – 12,000,000 Berries

Caught mid-battle with Kuroobi, looking particularly disheveled but still deadly.

The combined bounty? Over 60 million Berries.

Aero had become the undisputed king of East Blue.

And he wasn't the only one reading.

Far away, in the Gregg Kingdom, Buggy the Clown laughed and passed out free alcohol for a day of celebration.

Elsewhere, Nami, still scraping together savings, saw the headlines and immediately jumped in a boat back to Cocoyashi.

Her emotions were a tangled knot.

It had been pirates who destroyed her home.

Now, it was pirates who had saved it.

In a grand hall somewhere in East Blue, Don Krieg, once hailed as the pirate admiral with 50 ships and 5,000 men, sat at a long wooden table.

He glared at the bounty posters spread before him. Aero's youthful face stared back from the paper.

With a growl, Krieg stabbed Aero's wanted poster with a dagger. "This punk thinks he can challenge my position? I won't let it slide."

His officers stayed silent. None dared speak.

Just days ago, three of Krieg's fleets were wiped out by the Hurricane Pirates.

They had planned retaliation.

But now… now even Arlong was defeated.

Arlong, whom Krieg himself hadn't dared provoke.

And Aero had crushed him like it was nothing.

That was why they were all gathered here today.

Because the question wasn't if Krieg would move against Aero—

It was whether he even could.
