One Piece: Voyager of the Sea

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Adapting to Life at Sea (Part 4)

Jialai entered his room for the first time. It was simple, clean.

Doctors, it seemed, all had a thing for cleanliness. Jialai comforted herself with this thought. Her eyes stealthily scanned the corners of the room, spotting his long knife placed next to the sofa.

"Sit down," Luo's voice was faint but commanding. Jialai withdrew her gaze and, following his instruction, sat down on a chair.

Luo carefully examined her. They were very close now, so close that Jialai could even feel his breath.

Jialai widened her eyes, trying hard to keep his image in her mind.

Luo noticed that Jialai was staring at him with wide, unblinking eyes. A flicker of something dark flashed in his gaze. He created a small ring with his hand that enveloped her in an instant. Before she could even blink, Jialai realized—had she grown taller?

She snapped back to her senses, looking down, her heart nearly stopping in shock. Her head, body, arms, and legs seemed to be sliced apart and floating within a half-circle. This was one of Luo's abilities.

"What... are you doing?" Jialai's voice trembled. She realized the sensation of being torn apart was far more terrifying than death itself. Her body, disassembled and out of control, made her feel as though she might snap. "Restore me! Now!"

"I'm just treating you," Trafalgar. Luo was unfazed, his tone calm.

"Treat my ass!" Jialai nearly shouted, but she managed to suppress the words at the tip of her tongue. Her voice still carried a menacing edge. "Hurry up and put me back together!"

"Oh?" Luo smiled faintly, his finger twitching slightly. Jialai felt her limbs drifting off toward various corners of the room.

"Trafalgar. Luo!" Jialai gritted her teeth, desperate to swim over and bite him to death. But her head wouldn't obey.

Luo, who had been enjoying the amusing expression on Jialai's face, finally grew bored. After a moment of teasing, he decided to release her, as if granting her mercy.

Jialai's limbs slowly returned to normal, her nerves still on edge. She shot a glance at the man who stood provocatively not far away, and in a sudden surge of anger, she lunged at him, grabbing his hand and biting down hard.

Luo clearly hadn't expected her to actually bite him, nor did he expect her to land a solid bite. He was momentarily stunned, the sting of pain radiating from his arm.

Jialai tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth and snapped back to reality. The fury had driven her to act without thinking, but now, as she regained her senses, she realized how dangerous this man was.

The man in front of her was the infamous pirate supernova: Trafalgar. Luo. A man who could slice a person's heart out with just a flick of his fingers!

Frozen in place, unsure of what to do, Jialai watched as Luo withdrew his hand. The deep bite marks on his arm were already leaking blood.

"Sorry... I didn't mean it…" Jialai muttered, her eyes filling with tears as she stared at the row of deep bite marks. Was it from fear, or was it the inexplicable ache in her heart?

Luo's expression didn't change. He turned, grabbing some medicine from the medical table and tending to the wound. When he finished, he looked back. Jialai was still standing there, her head lowered, lost in thought.

"Where else does it hurt?" His voice was soft, but there was a chill to it. Jialai instinctively shuddered, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze. She hastily left his room.

For the rest of the time, Jialai remained in her own room, reflecting on her rash actions.

When she finally emerged again, it was to find Bepo informing her that they had arrived at a small island.

Stepping onto land after so long, Jialai felt a surge of mixed emotions. However, those emotions vanished the moment Luo handed her a bag.

"Inside this bag is enough money for you to start a new life here," Luo said, still wearing that faint smile, his voice calm and measured.

Jialai hesitated for a moment before extending her hand to take the bag. Her head lowered, she softly muttered, "Thank you," and turned to leave, not even considering saying goodbye to Jebaru or Bepo.

She had prepared herself mentally countless times, but when he made his stance clear, the sorrow still hit her. There was the uncertainty of what came next, but more than that, it was a kind of pain she couldn't quite express.

She would never again see the man who always wore a smile that carried disdain and sarcasm, occasionally lazy and disinterested. She would never again be so close to him, able to feel his breath, to sense his presence so vividly.

Trafalgar. Luo.
