One Piece: The Great Black Sky

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: What's Your Name!?

In the blink of an eye, Shirou had been in this world for over half a month. The only reason he hadn't starved to death was because he'd luckily activated the Dungeon & Fighter system. He also discovered that he could see when he opened the system interface, which thrilled him—after all, he'd been blind for over two weeks. Honestly, life hadn't been too bad. He'd built himself a shack by the sea, lined the floor with tattered leather, and survived on strawberries, black bread, and red and blue potions. Anyone who'd played DNF would recognize the silver-white pelt draped over Shirou's shoulders—it was Sky Piercer Kain's fur, tailored into a badass coat. Thank fuck he'd been too lazy to sell materials on this alt account, or he'd have been sucking wind for the past fortnight. His backpack still had 1,000,000 gold, transferred from his main—he'd completely forgotten about it, otherwise it wouldn't have lasted this long. In this world, gold coins were actual gold. Not that it mattered in this godforsaken shithole. If he could, Shirou would trade every last coin for food.

Aside from unlocking his inventory, he'd also activated the skill system. For some fucking reason, though, he could only use passive abilities like High Jump, Mind's Eye, and Danger Sense. Still, thanks to those, he could move around almost like a normal person. Every other skill remained grayed out, no matter how many SP points he dumped into them. His alt was already Level 25, for fuck's sake.

Now, he spent his days staring blankly at the sea—not that he could see shit. He just wanted to get the hell off this island. His strawberry stash was running dangerously low…

Meanwhile, out at sea…

A sailboat's mast flew a tattered Jolly Roger, its flag as bony as a cow's rib.

"Captain! There's an island up ahead!"

The captain whipped out a telescope, then a crumpled map from his coat, bursting into manic laughter. "HAHAHAHAHAHA! Boys, we've arrived! Full speed ahead! Time to hunt for treasure!"

"YEAH!" A dozen pirates roared in unison.

"Captain! We're here, we're here!" The ship docked, and Captain York vaulted out of his cabin, arms spread wide. "Men! We've reached our destination! Now, what do we do?"

"Dance! Sing!"

York bellowed, "And what are we?!"

"Free pirates! HAHAHAHA!"

Just then, a sleazy-looking dude with an afro slinked out from below deck, cackling as he scraped a violin. "Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!..."

"Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!..." The crew joined in, harmonizing with Brook's eerie tune.

Bink's sake, we raise our cups,

Through storm and wave we ride,

Under clear skies, our flag flies high,

Our dreams our only guide.

Gazing far to shores unknown,

Where seagulls chase the sun,

Leaving home, yet hearts still roam,

To songs we've always sung.

Frail bodies, iron will,

Men who dare the tide,

Crossing seas with destiny,

No chains can hold us tight.

Bink's sake, friends beside,

Chasing hope so wide,

Waves will rock us deep to sleep,

Our ship our home, our pride.

Skull flag in the wind,

Gives us strength within,

New age dawns, we march along,

With drums that never end.

Storms may rage and roar,

We fear them no more,

Live as men, die as men,

That's what life is for!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Bink's sake, midnight cheer,

Drunk on yesteryear,

Moonlight gleams on endless seas,

Another night so dear.

Bink's sake, sing it loud,

Leave your fears unbound,

No road's long, no fight's too strong,

With friends and booze around!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Yo-ho-ho-ho! Yo-ho-ho-ho!

Back on the shore, Shirou had been napping under the sun when the noise jolted him awake. He sat up, rubbing his temples.

"The fuck is that racket?! So damn annoying!" He shook his head.

Then—"Huh?! People? People are here! HAHAHAHA!" He scrambled to his feet and bolted toward the sound.

"Yo-ho-ho— Huh? Captain, there's a guy sprinting at our ship!" Brook poked York, who yanked his head out of a barrel and squinted where the skeleton pointed.

"What?! Oh shit, you're right! Men! We've got company!" York bellowed. The pirates stopped singing as they spotted Shirou charging toward them. York planted a boot on the ship's railing and called down,

"Hey, brat! What the hell do you want?"

Shirou 'looked' up with hollow eyes, his face splitting into an unhinged grin. York noticed his gaze.

"No pupils…"

"Kid, what's your name?"

Shirou answered, "I'm Shirou! My ship wrecked, and I'm the only survivor stranded on this island. Please, can you help me?" His voice dripped with desperate hope.
