One Piece: The Deadly

Chapter 1: The Kid With A Dream

The Thousand Sunny cut through the cerulean waves under a blazing sun, its sails billowing in the gentle breeze. The crew of the Straw Hat Pirates buzzed with activity. Nami stood at the helm, carefully charting their next course while Luffy lounged on the deck with a mountain of meat skewers in hand.

"Luffy, stop eating all the food!" Nami shouted, her voice carrying the weight of authority that only she could command over the chaos-prone captain.

"But it's so good!" Luffy replied, cheeks puffed out like a squirrel as he stuffed more meat into his mouth.

Sanji, flipping through his culinary inventory, rolled his eyes. "Nami-swan's right. If you keep eating like that, we'll have to catch fish every hour to keep up."

Just then, Usopp pointed toward the shoreline of a small, quaint island in the distance. "Hey, looks like there's a port up ahead! Maybe we can stock up there."

As the Thousand Sunny docked at the lively island, the crew scattered to gather supplies and stretch their legs. The streets were bustling with vendors, performers, and townsfolk. Amid the noise, a cry for help caught Zoro's sharp ears.

"Do you hear that?" Zoro asked, looking toward a narrow alleyway.

The crew turned their attention toward the sound. Down the street, a boy no older than twelve sprinted away from three older kids wielding shinai. Tears streamed down his face as he clutched his own wooden sword.

"Leave me alone!" the boy cried.

The bullies stopped in their tracks and laughed heartily, watching the boy collapse to his knees in exhaustion. "You'll never be a real swordsman, Kikidori! Give it up!" one of them sneered before they sauntered back toward a nearby dojo.

The boy, now alone, stared down at his shinai, his small hands trembling. His expression shifted from despair to resolve as he gripped the wooden sword tightly.

Luffy, curious as ever, strolled up to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey."

Startled, the boy looked up, his teary eyes meeting Luffy's wide grin. The spark of hope ignited instantly in his gaze.

"You wanna join my crew?" Luffy asked, tilting his head with his signature carefree attitude.

"Luffy!" Nami shouted, storming over. "You can't just ask a random kid to join the crew!"

Sanji, lighting a cigarette, took a drag and exhaled. "Nami's right, you idiot. You can't go recruiting every person you meet."

The boy blinked in disbelief. "C-Can I really join your crew?" he asked, voice trembling with excitement.

Luffy laughed, planting his hands on his hips. "That's what I just asked, isn't it? So, what's your answer?"

The boy hesitated for a moment before his face broke into a wide grin. "Am I a part of the crew... now?"

"Sure!" Luffy said without missing a beat, grinning ear to ear.

Nami groaned, slapping her hand to her forehead. "I can't believe this."

Franky, polishing some tools nearby, laughed. "Looks like we've got a new little bro on board! SUPER!"

The crew spent the rest of the day gathering supplies and letting Kikidori follow them around. The boy's excitement was palpable, his eyes sparkling with admiration as he watched Zoro and Sanji bicker or Usopp spin elaborate tales of his heroics.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, they returned to the Thousand Sunny. Luffy leaned against the ship's railing, looking down at the boy. "What's your name, anyway?"

"Kikidori," the boy said, puffing his chest out proudly.

Robin, sitting gracefully nearby, smiled. "Is that your full name?"

The boy hesitated, then shook his head. "My full name is Diamond D. Kikidori."

The crew froze.

Robin's eyes widened slightly as she closed her book. "You have a 'D' in your name. You're just like Luffy."

Luffy, now busy shoveling another pile of meat into his mouth, barely looked up. "Cool," he said through a mouthful.

Nami sighed in exasperation. "This is going to be a long journey."
