One Piece: The Avengers

Chapter 26: Chapter 25: Artificial Respiration

After saying that, Shanter casually picked up a tissue and wiped the blood seeping from his right hand onto the napkin, then reached for the Fukuoka Ichimonji at his waist.

"Wait! Don't do anything rash," Robin stopped him, holding back his impulsive actions. "There are sixty or seventy of them, and there are only two of us!"

"So what? I'm no longer the person I once was! I will never retreat or avoid anymore!" Shanter coldly brushed away Robin's hand. "And it's just one person!"

"Fusute D. Shanter! What do you mean by that? Say it again!" Robin suddenly erupted in an unprecedented rage.

"Listen up!" Robin's voice was low but stern as she spoke each word deliberately. "I, Nico Robin, am now a part of the Fusute family!"

"Yes, in the past six months, we've faced countless hunts from the navy and bounty hunters, but each time, it was you who took care of them, right?" Robin, unbothered by her lady-like image, grabbed Shanter by the collar, her dark blue eyes locked onto his. "That's because I know with your skills, those small fry are no threat to you! At most, you'll get a few small injuries, and that's nothing!"

"But this time is different! This time, I will fight alongside you! I won't be left behind again! And I won't leave you behind either!" Robin released Shanter's collar and stood up. "Let's go!"

"Wait! Don't act rashly. There are sixty or seventy of them, and there are only two of us! Little girl, let's plan this out carefully!" Shanter grabbed Robin's hand and returned the Fukuoka Ichimonji to its sheath.

If he could take revenge, Shanter wouldn't care much about his life. But if it cost Robin her life, he could not accept it.

"Mm." Robin sat down, her chest heaving slightly in excitement from her emotional state.

"Then you must follow my orders!" Shanter was still calming himself with deep breaths. "First, we need to locate their ship and understand their strength."

"Okay, but if you're planning to ditch me..." Robin's face was slightly flushed, still recovering from the emotions.

"I know." Shanter nodded slightly.

"Hey, tell me, where's your ship? Who's on it? What are their abilities?" Shanter was interrogating a pirate he had caught.

"You better let me go!" The pirate refused to answer and instead tried to threaten him. "Otherwise, our captain, Mr. Twister, won't spare you! He's a Devil Fruit user!"

"A Devil Fruit user, huh? That's impressive!" Shanter punched the pirate in the face, causing blood to splatter, while Robin had already moved away, instinctively distancing herself from the bloody scene.

Having experienced so much over the years, Robin had grown accustomed to violence and death, but she was still a woman, and there was something about it that unsettled her.

"Li Kantata, I dare you to hit me again!" the pirate slurred, still trying to defy Shanter. "Mr. Twister won't let you get away with this!"

"Enough nonsense! Talk!" Shanter delivered another powerful punch.

Shanter hated pirates, and he had no qualms about using severe methods to extract information. Who knew how many innocent lives this man had taken?

"Liu Penshi, if you have the guts, try it again!" The pirate was still being defiant.

"You've got quite the mouth! Alright, just as you wish!" Shanter continued to punch him until the pirate passed out.

"Seems I went a little too hard," Shanter muttered as he tied the pirate up, hanging him from a tree, using a rope to secure his neck. After double-checking that he couldn't escape, he waited silently for the pirate to wake up.

Just then, Robin appeared.

"I told you not to come," Shanter said, not wanting Robin to see his cruel side.

"It's fine," Robin replied quietly, glancing at the unfortunate pirate. "I came to give you this." She handed Shanter a stack of papers.

"This is—information!" Shanter looked up in delight. "Where did you find this?"

"Impressive, right?" Robin didn't respond but wore a smug expression on her face.

"Impressive, indeed. I didn't expect you to be so useful!" Shanter said, flipping through the pages of the information Robin had found, unsure whether he was complimenting her or not.

Robin, who had been a little pleased at first, heard the second half of Shanter's comment and her face fell, almost turning sour with a hint of resentment. She muttered under her breath, "Is it really that hard to compliment me?"

"You're really beautiful, Little Girl!" Shanter said absent-mindedly, still absorbed in the papers.

Upon hearing this, Robin's face collapsed entirely. "In your eyes, am I just a vase?"

"Hmm?" The two were distracted by the pirate's desperate struggle.

"Bad news, he's going to be strangled!" Shanter quickly noticed and, startled, rushed to lower the pirate down.

Looking at the now-asphyxiated pirate, Shanter said, "Quick, give him artificial respiration!"

After waiting for a while, seeing Robin not reacting, Shanter said, "Little girl, why are you just standing there?"

"I—I do it?" Robin's face turned beet red. "You're really going too far asking me to do this!"

"What's so bad about it? Hurry up!"

"I don't know how!" Robin stomped her foot in frustration. "You do it yourself!"

"You really are clueless. Fine, I'll teach you!" Shanter squatted down, firmly gripping the pirate's neck, and soon the pirate began to cough loudly.

"Idiot girl, understand now?"

"Artificial respiration, huh..." Robin's expression was one of surprise, but internally, she felt a complex mix of emotions.

"Hey, Little Girl, here's the battle plan. Got it? If you understand, repeat it back to me." Shanter said solemnly and slowly.

"I'll burn their ship, cause a distraction, and use various methods to lead their small fry away, giving you a chance... You handle Mr. Twister," Robin said with some exasperation, "Seriously, I'm the one who came up with the plan. Do you really need to repeat it so many times?"

"You said you'd follow my orders." Shanter was somewhat dissatisfied. Consumed with the desire for revenge, he couldn't calm his mind and think things through as he usually did. As a result, Robin had to come up with a rough outline for the plan.

Although Shanter had killed a few of the small fry in the past few days through sneak attacks, he had only managed to pressure the Twister Pirates, injuring them slightly but not inflicting any major damage.

"Mm, I know," Robin nodded.

"Good, then let's move out!" Shanter gave Robin a tender glance before standing up.

"Wait." Perhaps because of Shanter's deep gaze, Robin's face flushed slightly.

"What is it?" Shanter turned to ask.

"Big Brother, promise me—if it's impossible, don't force it!" Robin pleaded earnestly.

"Okay," Shanter said, but in his heart, he wasn't sure what he was thinking. "Now, can we go?"

"Promise me, you'll come back alive. We still need to find the history texts together!" Robin's sweet lips were ready for another kiss.

Unlike Robin's expectations, Shanter's response this time was much more subdued, far less passionate than their first kiss.

"Let's go, Little Girl," Shanter patted her delicate face and walked off with large strides.

"Mm." Robin followed reluctantly, her mood slightly downcast.

"Big Brother's influence is really great... even I..."
