Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Take the initiative to release the overlord’s domineering energy!
Rayleigh's lips curled into a grin—it was clear Reid had made a breakthrough.
"Alright, I'll try keeping my eyes closed. The principle should be the same for attacks too."
Reid thrust out his palm, releasing a golden shockwave from his Buddha-form hand.
BOOM!
A distant ship erupted in flames, followed by the agonized screams of pirates.
Beside him, Rayleigh's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with approval.
"Reid truly is a natural. To grasp it this quickly and even expand on it himself—what a terrifying talent."
Members of both the Roger and Whitebeard Pirates watched from the shore, their faces a mix of awe and disbelief.
"Whoa! Reid's insane! His eyes are still closed, right?" Momora gasped.
"Yeah, he's not even looking! Unbelievable—since when did Reid have Observation Haki this strong?"
Swordsman Spencer stared at the sinking wreckage, utterly stunned.
"Reid really does bring miracles and hope wherever he goes. Fascinating." Youu smirked, his eyes locked on the golden figure with keen interest.
"Reid... what an intriguing man."
Even Marco, leaning against a tree further back, extended his Observation Haki to sense the spectacle.
"Another top-tier fighter emerges. Makes you wonder how many hidden powerhouses are out there." Haruta grinned, resting a hand on his sword hilt.
"Hahaha! Go get 'em, Reid!" Mihar Pine roared, swinging his hammer in excitement.
"Pipe down, beard-face! Don't distract him!" Momora chided.
"Pfft—if that counts as a distraction, he shouldn't be training in the first place!" Mihar shot back, laughing.
"...Fair point." Momora conceded with a nod.
"Heh. I knew from day one Reid was special. Dude's gonna turn every ocean upside down someday." Blumarine beamed, his admiration overflowing.
With each strike, Reid's confidence grew. His perception sharpened, his movements accelerated—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Every attack landed flawlessly. And still, his eyes remained shut.
The onlookers gaped, their shock palpable.
"That's my brother for you!" Roger laughed, his faith in their future reignited.
"Roger," Whitebeard mused, "how does someone with so many abilities lack basic Haki? Why learn from Rayleigh now?"
"Tch. Like I told you—no clue. Does it matter?"
"Sigh. Fine." Whitebeard relented, though the question still nagged at him.
Suddenly—Reid's eyes snapped open. Clarity. Conviction. Power.
"I see it now. All of it—the flow, the presence! Time to end this. If I don't roar, these fools will keep mistaking me for a kitten!"
Calmly, he raised his hands.
"Divine Dragon Palm!"
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Golden shockwaves sliced through the air, annihilating pirate ships with pinpoint accuracy. Screams filled the sea as enemies plunged into the waves.
Reid's chest swelled with exhilaration—a warrior's pride surging through him. Then—
WHOOSH!
An overwhelming pressure erupted!
"Conqueror's Haki," Rayleigh noted, unfazed. He'd seen Reid wield it before.
But this time was different. The blast was directed, focused solely on the enemy fleet.
"He's controlling it. Rough area targeting for now, but still—impressive progress."
Rayleigh's chest warmed with pride.
"So this is Conqueror's Haki!" Reid's gaze turned feral, sweeping across the battlefield. A fraction of pirates collapsed unconscious.
"Hoh? The potency increased. Only knocked out a few at this range, but still..."
Rayleigh watched, newly astonished. Directional Conqueror's Haki? That alone put Reid above most.
"Not bad, kid. To think Roger lucked out snagging you," Whitebeard remarked, eyeing Reid like a prized recruit.
Roger just grinned. "Hah! Jealous, old man?"
"Don't you even think about recruiting Reid. I have a strong feeling that when that day comes in the future, Reid will play a crucial role."
"Roger, you mean…" Whitebeard didn't finish his sentence.
"Mhm, exactly. With him on our side, our chances are much higher. As long as we're still breathing, there's always hope."
Roger grinned with confidence. He had personally experienced just how miraculous Reid's healing abilities were.
"Run! We were tricked by the Navy Headquarters! They must've lured us here on purpose to fight among ourselves with Reid and the others, and now they'll come clean up the mess!"
One pirate leader shouted in terror, as if he had uncovered a hidden conspiracy.
"He's right! That's exactly what I think too! Let's get out of here! The Navy is probably hiding nearby, just waiting for us to weaken each other."
"Damn Navy! They fooled us! I even paid a fortune in Berries for a travel permit!"
"Run! Our lives are more important! We can always steal more money later!"
Panic spread among the pirates, and chaos erupted.
"Reid, those pirates are about to flee—can you handle them on your own?" Rayleigh asked with a grin. He wasn't particularly concerned about whether the pirates lived or died; what mattered was how Reid wanted to deal with them.
Reid grinned. "I've played games where I took down flying targets before, but this time, it's going to be pirate ships instead."
"Flying targets?" Rayleigh raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
Reid scratched his head, slightly embarrassed. "Uh… in my original world, there were these big metals birds called airplanes. When we were kids, we used to play games where we'd pretend to shoot them down."
He glanced around. "But in this world, there aren't any planes. People usually travel by ship. Only the World Government—specifically the Navy—has advanced warships designed by Vegapunk."
