Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Morgans Transfers, CP9 Tipster Goes to the Island
Above a remote hill, a peculiar ship drifted silently through the sky.
Yes—a flying ship.
On either side of the vessel, three massive gears spun steadily. The bow resembled a bird's sharp beak, while the stern tapered like a feathered tail. Puffs of steam hissed from its mechanisms, and atop the ship, an air canopy bore the bold letters: "WE NEWS."
Inside the cabin, Morgans reclined comfortably, sipping wine as he perused a freshly printed newspaper. A smug grin stretched across his face.
"Hehehehehe… Who says the great journalist Morgans can't fly? Look at me now—flying high! Hahahaha!"
"President, should we relocate? Moving everything is such a hassle… The data hasn't even been transferred yet," a nervous male staffer with glasses cautiously asked.
"You fool. We've never directly opposed the World Government before. Sengoku just got promoted to Fleet Admiral, and I've already stopped publishing what he wants. Do you think someone as sharp as Sengoku will simply let me go? No chance. He'll make his move. I can already foresee it. From now on, I'll report the truth as I see fit. Let the World Government try to silence me—they won't succeed."
Morgans whacked the questioning employee on the head twice with a rolled-up newspaper.
"Y-Yes, sir! You're absolutely right. I was thinking too simply."
"You always amaze us, President! Predicting danger before it arrives!"
"It's an honor to chase the truth with you, sir!"
Hearing the praise, Morgans was thrilled, his beak wide open with excitement and pride.
"Hahahahaha… I've got a strong hunch—something big is coming. Roger the Pirate King captured and escaped this mysterious Reid figure, Sengoku's Devil Fruit powers… None of this is a coincidence. Even Vice Admiral Kuzan hasn't returned to headquarters yet. It's all too strange… Hehehehehe."
Resting his chin in one hand, Morgans muttered with a sly grin.
"President, reports from the seagulls indicate that the Whitebeard Pirates are heading to Batelira Island in the South Sea, possibly searching for the Roger Pirates."
"Hahaha! Now this is big news! Get a special edition ready. Assign tasks to every branch—rush the printing. We're about to make a fortune!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Hehehe… So many major events lately—it's like the heavens themselves favor me. The world can't live without the great Morgans! Hahahaha!"
Batelira Island
a small, quiet boat gently arrived at the island's shore. Six people disembarked one by one.
Leading the group was a tall man wearing a red mask and helmet, topped with long red horns. He had flowing pink hair, gold hoop earrings, a red suit with matching trousers, and carried a long sword.
His name was Foz Fo, a 16-year-old student from the Guanhao Island training program. Despite his age, his over-2-meter stature and calm demeanor gave him the presence of someone much older.
The other five were also trainees:
Rob Lucci (6 years old)
Kaku (13 years old)
Blueno (8 years old)
Jabra (12 years old)
Fukurou (7 years old)
Foz Fo surveyed the area. No one in sight.
"Alright. Move freely, but don't get caught. Just act like normal kids."
"Yes, Brother Fozzie," they replied in unison. Their calm, emotionless expressions were unsettling—far from the innocence typical of children.
"Wait—what if one of you gets discovered?" Foz Fo asked seriously.
"Don't worry. If we're caught, we'll bite our tongues and end it before any Haki user can detect us."
"Good. Never forget your Navy justice."
"Yes, Brother Fozzie. Understood."
With that, the five scattered like shadows.
Foz Fo let out a quiet sigh.
"Uncle Spandine is such a coward, hiding in Enies Lobby and pretending to be in charge. And his idiot son—both of them are just spineless."
He recalled the mission Spandine had assigned:
"To play it safe, your team will gather intel. Since you all look like children, you'll blend into the island easily. The main target is a man named Reid. You've all seen his picture. Your mission is to gather as much intelligence on him as possible."
"Foz Fo, you'll lead. Make the arrangements," Spandine ordered.
"Yes, Sir Spandine," Foz Fo had responded.
Back in the present, Foz Fo smirked.
"Good thing that moron Spandam didn't come—he'd have gotten caught instantly."
With that, he headed toward the island's center.
Meanwhile, Reid, Shanks, and Bucky were still training under Rayleigh on the island.
"Ahhhh… Mr. Rayleigh, we've been chased by monkeys all day again! Can't we go back to the main island? I haven't slept in a bed for days…" Bucky painted, exhausted.
Rayleigh chuckled, "Well, Reid's here, isn't he?"
"Yes! Brother Reid, help me! I'm dying here," Bucky wailed, clinging to Reid's arm.
"Hah, Bucky, you're overreacting. You're not even injured. I'm out here flirting with death every day," Shanks teased, smirking.
"Shanks! I worked hard too! If it were you, you'd be monkey food by now! Those beasts are monsters!" Bucky snapped, pointing and sputtering angrily.
Reid smiled and patted Bucky's shoulder. "There, there."
"Ahhh, much better. With you around, Brother Reid, I feel safe…"
"Useless," Shanks muttered.
"What did you say?! You wanna fight?!"
Still holding Reid's arm, Bucky pointed furiously at Shanks with his free hand.
"If you think your training's harder, let's switch. You take on the tiger, I'll deal with the monkeys. Deal?" Shanks grinned.
"Uhh… n-no thanks. You can keep that."
"Haha! Bucky, you're scared!"
"Alright, enough talking—eat up. Training resumes after this, and it's only getting tougher," Rayleigh said as he refilled his bowl.
"Whoa! Mr. Rayleigh, you've eaten a lot of them!"
Bucky rushed over to scoop some for himself.
"Save some for me!" Shanks yelled, joining in.
"Back off, Shanks! You've already had five bowls!"
"It was only three!"
The two began bickering again, nose-to-nose.
Rayleigh watched with a small smile. "These two are really something… They'll both become major players one day."
Reid looked at them and couldn't help but feel moved.
Who would've thought these loud, silly boys would one day shake the world?
