Chapter 7: 7. A New Beginning
The tranquil blue sea sparkled under the sun's radiant light as a cruise ship glided smoothly over the waves. Onboard, the passengers enjoyed the luxurious voyage, their laughter and chatter filling the air.
On the lower deck, two sailors were leaning over the railing, pointing at something bobbing in the water.
"Hey, check that out," one sailor said, squinting at the object floating nearby.
"It's a barrel," the other replied. "Must've fallen off a cargo ship or something."
The first sailor leaned further over the railing, grinning. "Think there's wine in there? Let's haul it aboard. It could be worth something."
The two worked together to secure the barrel and hoisted it up onto the deck. It was heavier than they expected, and they struggled under its weight as they carried it toward the storage area.
"Man, this thing's heavy," one of them grumbled.
"Probably packed full of wine barrels. That's gotta be it," the other joked.
As they trudged along, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by a shout from above.
"Pirates! There's a pirate ship heading this way!" a sailor from the crow's nest screamed.
The sailors froze, their expressions turning to panic. They dropped the barrel, which tumbled down the deck, rolling uncontrollably as the cruise ship was rocked by a sudden explosion. The barrel rolled uncontrollably, bouncing down a set of stairs and finally coming to rest in the kitchen.
From their pink ship, the Alvida Pirates roared with laughter as they watched the cruise ship falter under their assault.
"Keep firing!" shouted Captain Alvida, her booming voice commanding absolute authority.
She stood at the helm, She was a tall and obese woman with long wavy black hair and freckles on her cheeks. She wore a white cowgirl hat with a large red plume, a red neckerchief, a pink plaid shirt, and a blue captain's coat over it with the arms in the sleeves. She wore rings on her fingers and her long sharp fingernails had red polish. She had a purple sash with a flintlockpistol tucked in it and some jewels. She also wore graying pants and red shoes with gold buckles.
"Prepare to board!" Alvida ordered, her sharp nails glinting as she gestured toward the stricken cruise ship.
"Yes, Captain!" her crew replied in unison, eagerly readying ropes and planks to board the vessel.
"Who is the fairest of them all?" Alvida demanded, her voice booming.
"You are, Alvida-sama!" her crew shouted in unison.
A small, timid, chubby boy with kobi pink hair and round-frame glasses, Koby trembled, his knees knocking together as Alvida turned her gaze to him.
"And you, Koby?" she sneered, leaning closer. "Who is the most beautiful woman in all of the seas?"
"Y-you are, Alvida-sama!" Koby stammered, forcing a smile despite the tears welling in his eyes.
"Koby!" Alvida's voice boomed, making him jump.
"Y-yes, Alvida-sama?" he stammered, scrambling to stand at attention.
"Get on that ship and find me something valuable! If you come back empty-handed…" She trailed off, swinging her mace in a threatening arc.
Koby paled. "Y-yes, ma'am!"
He clambered aboard the cruise ship, clutching his trembling hands together as he muttered to himself.
Koby, along with a few pirates, made his way to the cruise ship's kitchen. They scanned the area for anything worth taking, their weapons glinting menacingly under the flickering light of the hanging lanterns.
"Hey, what's this?" one pirate asked, pointing to the barrel sitting in the corner.
"Looks like wine," another pirate said, licking his lips.
"Let's crack it open!"
One of the pirates grabbed a heavy tool and struck the top of the barrel. The wood creaked under the impact, and a second blow caused the lid to burst open with a loud crash.
To their shock, a boy emerged from the barrel, stretching his arms high above his head.
"Man, what a great nap!" he exclaimed, yawning as though he hadn't a care in the world.
The pirates stared in stunned silence.
He is a young man of average height with shaggy black hair, round black eyes, and a slim muscular build. He wears a red vest with three gold buttons, light blue denim shorts cuffed just above his knees, tan sandals and a yellow straw hat with a red hatband, He also has a scar with two stitches underneath his left eye.

The sound of cannon fire echoed over the tranquil sea, shattering the peace. Noir leaned casually against the railing of his small boat, his pitch-black eyes with white irises fixed on the unfolding chaos. Smoke billowed from the cruise ship, and faint screams carried across the waves. With a flick of his wrist, Noir lit his cigarette, the orange ember glowing briefly before he took a drag.
"This might actually be fun," he muttered, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
Ihwa, standing to his left, adjusted her silver-white hair and tightened her red jacket. "Are you serious? That cruise ship looks like it's done for."
"That's the point," Noir replied, slipping on his pristine white jacket. The contrast between its elegance and the chaos ahead made his aura even more striking.
Fubuki crossed her arms, her green hair catching the sunlight. "So, what's the plan? Or are you just winging it as usual?"
Noir exhaled a thin stream of smoke and turned to the group. "We're getting on that ship. Do whatever you want once we're there. Fight, hide, or play the hero."
Mizuki, her orange hair bouncing as she stretched, grinned. "Finally! Something exciting. I was starting to get bored."
Yuki, leaning on the railing, flashed a mischievous grin. "I call dibs on the biggest idiot I can find. They're usually the easiest to break."
Noir rolled his eyes but said nothing, focusing instead on the Alvida Pirates' ship, now sidling up to the cruise ship. The cannon fire ceased, replaced by the sounds of grappling hooks and boarding planks slamming into place.
As Noir's small boat reached the hull of the cruise ship, he jumped aboard without hesitation. His movement was smooth and calculated, landing quietly on the deck. Behind him, the four women followed, each with their own sense of purpose.
"Stay out of my way," Noir said, his tone calm but firm.
"Of course, oh fearless-kun," Ihwa teased, already moving toward the lower decks.
Fubuki adjusted her stance, her telekinetic aura faintly shimmering. "Don't worry. I'll manage."
Mizuki cracked her knuckles. "Time for some hands-on training."
Yuki winked at Noir before darting off. "Try to keep up!"
Noir smirked, flicking his cigarette aside as he strode forward.
The cruise ship's interior was a maze of hallways, most of them deserted. Noir moved with purpose, ignoring the faint sounds of combat and looting in the distance. He opened door after door, each one revealing nothing of interest: empty rooms, abandoned supplies, scattered luggage.
"Boring," he muttered, closing yet another door.
As he moved deeper into the ship, a faint noise caught his attention. It was different from the usual chaos—a muffled voice, followed by the clinking of metal. His curiosity piqued, Noir stopped in front of a worn wooden door.
He placed his hand on the handle and pushed it open.
Inside, two figures immediately turned to face him.
*************
"Man, what a great nap!" he said with a yawn, his red vest and light blue denim shorts creasing as he arched his back. The yellow straw hat perched on his head tilted slightly, revealing a scar with two stitches beneath his left eye.
The pirates froze in stunned silence, unsure of how to react. One of them finally broke the tension by shouting, "What the hell?! Who's this guy?!"
The boy's gaze shifted to the group, his cheerful expression never faltering. "Oh, hey! Who are you guys?" he asked, tilting his head as though he hadn't noticed the weapons they were holding.
The pirate nearest to him growled, raising his blade. "You've got some nerve, brat! Get back in that barrel!"
But before the pirate could swing, the boy's fist shot out in a blur, striking the pirate square in the jaw. The force of the punch sent the man flying across the room, where he crashed into a stack of crates and lay motionless.
The other pirates gaped in horror as the boy scratched his head, grinning. "Oops! Guess I don't know my own strength."
Koby, who had been standing frozen by the doorway, finally mustered the courage to speak. "W-who are you?" he asked, his voice trembling.
The boy turned to him, flashing a wide smile. "I'm Monkey D. Luffy. I'm gonna be the King of the Pirates!"
Koby's eyes widened, his mind racing, 'King of the Pirates?! This guy?!.'
Before Koby could process what was happening, the pirates lunged at Luffy. But the boy was quick, dodging their attacks with an ease that bordered on playful. With every punch and kick, he sent the pirates sprawling, his movements almost childlike in their simplicity.
When the last pirate hit the floor, groaning in pain, Luffy stretched his arms above his head again. "Whew! That was fun!" he said, as though he hadn't just dismantled an entire group of armed men.
Koby stared at him, his mouth agape. "You… you just…"
Luffy tilted his head. "Huh? What's wrong?"
"You beat them all… so easily," Koby stammered, clutching the sides of his head. "Are you really a pirate?"
"Yup!" Luffy replied cheerfully. "Now, let's find something to eat. I'm starving!"
Before Koby could protest, Luffy grabbed his arm and dragged him toward the door. They navigated the ship's chaotic hallways, the sounds of battle fading as they descended into the lower decks. Finally, they reached the food storage room, where Luffy wasted no time rummaging through the Barrel, and he found an apple.
"So, Koby, right? What's your deal?" Luffy asked between bites.
"I… I'm just a cabin boy," Koby said quietly, fiddling with his glasses. "I work for Alvida…"
Luffy paused mid-bite, his curious eyes locking onto Koby. "Wait, are you saying you're part of her crew?"
Koby's face turned pale, and he frantically shook his head. "No, no! I don't want to be! She… she forced me! I—"
Before he could finish, the food storage room door creaked open.
Koby froze, his heart pounding in his chest as he and Luffy turned to look at the figure standing in the doorway.
A young man leaned casually against the frame, his black pantofels clicking softly as he stepped inside. His sharp black pants hugged his legs, and the sleeves of his crisp white shirt were rolled up to just below his elbows, exposing strong, veined forearms and his tattoo. A lit cigarette dangled from his lips, the faint ember glowing against the dim light. His pitch-black eyes with stark white irises scanned the room, their gaze piercing and unreadable. Tousled jet-black hair framed his face, falling in loose strands that added to his sharp yet nonchalant demeanor.
The man's presence exuded quiet confidence, his every movement deliberate and smooth. Without his glasses, his striking features were unshielded, the sheer intensity of his gaze holding both Luffy and Koby in place.
"Mind if I join?" Noir asked, his voice low and calm, the smoke from his cigarette curling upward as he spoke.
Luffy's face lit up with a wide grin, completely unfazed by Noir's sudden appearance. "Sure, join us! The more, the merrier!" he said, gesturing to the pile of food he had already gathered.
Koby, on the other hand, could barely contain his panic. He glanced nervously at Noir, his unique black eyes with white irises sending shivers down Koby's spine. Noir's composed demeanor only added to his intimidation. Who is this guy? Koby thought frantically. He doesn't look like one of Alvida's pirates. No one on her crew has an aura like this… or eyes like that.
Noir sauntered over and crouched down near them, pulling a cigarette from his lips and extinguishing it with his fingers before flicking it aside. "By the way, I'm Noir, brat, Koby, was it?" he asked, his voice calm but sharp. "Are you really with Alvida's crew?"
Koby froze, his face paling further. "N-no! I mean, y-yes! But not because I wanted to!" he stammered, his hands trembling as he clutched at the hem of his shirt. "She… she forced me to join her crew! I've been stuck here ever since, doing whatever she says just to stay alive…"
Luffy tilted his head, still chewing on a piece of meat. "That's dumb. Why didn't you just run away?"
Koby flinched, his wide eyes darting between Luffy and Noir. "I… I can't! If I try to leave, she'll kill me!" he said, his voice cracking with fear. "Alvida-sama is terrifying!"
"Wow, you really are an idiot," Noir said flatly, leaning back against a nearby crate. His tone was casual, but the words stung. "If you're that scared of her, you're just going to be stuck here forever. Might as well chain yourself to her ship."
Luffy nodded enthusiastically, pointing a drumstick at Koby. "Yeah, you're a coward! You'll never be free if you don't fight for it!"
Koby's face burned with shame, but a small part of him couldn't help but wonder. Is it really possible to escape? To fight back? He looked at Luffy and Noir, both of whom radiated an air of confidence that was completely alien to him.
The conversation shifted as Koby, desperate to fill the silence, started asking Luffy questions. "So… why do you want to be King of the Pirates?" he asked, his voice still trembling.
Luffy swallowed his food and grinned. "Because it's my dream! And I'm going to find the One Piece!"
Koby's jaw dropped. "The One Piece? You really think you can find it? That's insane!"
Luffy laughed. "Of course I do! If I didn't believe I could, what's the point?"
Noir's lips curled into a faint smirk, his sharp eyes flicking toward Luffy. This kid… he's interesting.
As they talked, Koby began to relax, the warmth of their conversation chipping away at his fear. For the first time in years, he felt a spark of hope—though it was quickly extinguished by the mention of Alvida's name.
"I've been stuck with her for two years," Koby admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "She treats everyone like garbage… but no one dares to stand up to her."
Luffy and Noir exchanged a look before speaking simultaneously.
"Then just fight her!" Luffy said.
"Or run," Noir added lazily. "Honestly, both options are better than groveling."
Koby shook his head violently, tears welling in his eyes. "I can't! I… I'm too weak! And Alvida would never—"
"Enough," Noir cut him off, his calm tone taking on a sharper edge. "You're so busy making excuses, you don't even realize how pathetic you sound. If you don't want to fight, fine. Stay here and keep being her slave."
Luffy nodded again, his expression surprisingly serious. "Yeah, if you don't fight, nothing will ever change."
Koby's fists clenched, his knuckles turning white as their words hit him like a punch to the gut. Something inside him stirred—an anger, a desperation he hadn't felt in years. "I… I hate her, I will catch her" he muttered, barely audible at first. Then louder: "I will catch Alvida!"
The room fell silent as Koby's voice echoed off the walls.
Then, with a deafening crash, the ceiling above them exploded. Wood and debris rained down as a massive figure descended into the room. Alvida's mace hit the floor with a heavy thud, her towering figure casting a shadow over the trio.
Luffy had just been about to open the door when several blades thrust through it, narrowly missing him. He stepped back, glancing up at the new hole in the ceiling. "Oh, it's you," he said nonchalantly, pointing at Alvida.
Noir, still leaning against a crate, looked up at the pirate captain with a bored expression. "Well, if it isn't the infamous water hog," he drawled, his tone dripping with mockery.
A vein bulged on Alvida's forehead, her face turning red with fury. "W-what did you just call me?!"
"A water hog," Noir repeated casually, flicking an imaginary speck of dust from his sleeve. "You know, like a pig. But wetter."
Luffy burst out laughing, pointing at Alvida. "That's perfect! You really do look like a water hog!"
Alvida roared with rage, swinging her massive mace toward Luffy. But the boy was quick, dodging the blow with ease and leaping into the air. He grabbed Koby by the collar, pulling the terrified boy with him as he jumped through the hole in the ceiling.
They landed smoothly on the ship's deck, Luffy still grinning. "That was close!" he said, setting Koby down.
Noir followed a moment later, leaping gracefully through the same hole. He landed beside Luffy, straightening his white shirt with a quick tug. "Let's get this over with," he said, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
The wooden deck of Alvida's pirate ship echoed with the sound of clashing swords and the cries of the remaining crew. The four mysterious women moved like a whirlwind, their strikes swift and precise. Less than half of Alvida's crew remained standing, many of them too frightened to do anything but cower.
Noir stood amidst the chaos, his sharp eyes scanning the battlefield calmly. Suddenly, one of Alvida's pirates lunged at him from behind, swinging his sword with rage. Without even glancing back, Noir lowered his stance slightly, allowing the blade to miss him by mere inches. In one fluid motion, he spun on his heel and delivered a devastating axe kick — Ahp Olligi — a signature move in taekwondo.
BAM!
The kick struck the pirate squarely, shattering his balance and breaking through the wooden floor beneath them. The pirate crashed onto the lower deck, unconscious. Noir straightened up, dusting off his pants, and turned his gaze toward Luffy.
Luffy, on the other hand, was holding one of the pirates by the head as if he were handling a toy ball. "Here, catch!" he shouted with a mischievous grin, hurling the pirate toward a group of four others rushing at him. They toppled over like bowling pins, groaning as they hit the ground.
Seeing this, the remaining pirates gathered their courage and charged at Luffy en masse, weapons raised. Luffy turned his head and saw the mob coming. His expression shifted to a comically annoyed one. "Ganging up on me? That's not fair!" he yelled, sprinting toward the ship's main mast. He leaped up and grabbed it with his hands.
The pirates skidded to a stop, staring in confusion. Something was… strange. "Wait… his arms… they're stretching?!" one of them shouted, his voice filled with disbelief.
Before they could react further, Luffy pulled his arms back like rubber bands and launched himself through the air. "Gomu Gomu no Rocket!" he yelled, rocketing straight toward them. The pirates screamed as they were flung into the air like leaves caught in a storm, scattering across the deck.
Down below, Alvida, who was struggling to climb back up through the hole she had made earlier, froze mid-climb. The sunlight shining through the gap illuminated her shocked expression. "NANI?!?!?!" she bellowed, her voice echoing through the ship.
"L-Luffy-san, what...are you?" Coby asks, having watched Luffy stretch himself out.
"Oh! Well, I'm a rubber man!" Luffy tells him, reaching up and stretching his cheek out. "I ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi!" Alvida, who has finally managed to crawl out of the pantry and back up to the main deck approaches Luffy slowly.
"So, you've eaten a Devil Fruit," mutters Alvida. "I guess the rumors are true, after all. Devil Fruits really DO exist. Not only that but you and that freak eyes brat seem fairly skilled. Are the two of you supposed to be bounty hunters or something?"
"No, I'm a pirate" "No, I'm not a bounty hunter" said Noir and Luffy simultaneously.
"Huh! So you're a pirate. Well, that means that we're all enemies here!"
"L-Luffy-san, Noir-san, we should leave!" Coby tells him quickly. "You saw how powerful her club is! In these waters she's the most...the most..." He trails off as he stares up at Luffy, who appears completely unfazed by Alvida's supposed strength. "...the most ugly, cragged hag ever! I'm gonna join the Navy! I'm gonna join the Navy and catch your lousy ass!" That seems to be the final straw for Alvida who raises her massive club quickly, and brings it down quickly towards Koby. His eyes close tightly as the shadow falls over him, blotting out the afternoon sun...but after several tense moments he finally opens his eyes to find none other than Noir standing in front of him, arm out-stretched and holding tight to the club.
"Well said, brat," said Noir, glancing over his shoulder with a lop sided grin. "I knew ya had some real guts!"
"L-Let go!" screams Alvida, gripping her club with two hands and tugging as hard as she can but finding absolutely no give. "I said...let...GOOOO!" Alvida braces herself and gives a sharp tug just in time for Noir to release his grip. "Waaaaah!" The large woman staggers backwards, her club flying over her shoulder. "You little-"
"Gomu Gomu no...!" shouts Luffy, tossing an arm by and stretching it out towards the horizon. "...Pistol!" Alvida's eyes widen as his fist sails back in her direction and striking her square in the stomach before sending her flying into the distance. "Oi! Give Koby a boat! He's gonna join the Navy!"
