One Piece: Marine Luffy, Garp regrets it

Chapter 234: Chapter 234

"Okay, okay, shut up and go play."

Luffy waved Yamato off dismissively, feeling a pang of regret for underestimating her relentless determination. He watched her squirm under Hancock's hold like a restless maggot but brushed off her antics with a few perfunctory words.

Turning to the lieutenant, Luffy paused to think for a moment before speaking. "Fleet Admiral Sengoku just appointed me as the base commander of the new base in Wano Country. I don't know much about this place, so I'd like to borrow her for a while. She might be able to provide some useful information about the country. Please convey this to the Fleet Admiral for me."

The lieutenant glanced at Yamato, who was still wriggling under Hancock's firm grasp, her horns flicked like a child being scolded. Without hesitation, he nodded. "Understood, sir. I'll inform Fleet Admiral Sengoku right away. In return, we'd appreciate it if you could share any valuable intel you gather. It would save us a lot of time."

Luffy grinned and patted the lieutenant's shoulder. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a box of high-quality cigars from the South Sea and tossed it to him. The lieutenant's eyes lit up as he inspected the box, his expression turning to one of pure joy. After a quick salute, he led his group away, cigars in hand.

Once they were out of sight, Luffy turned back toward Hancock and Yamato. What he saw made him stop in his tracks. Hancock was perched on Yamato, casually flicking the smaller horns on her head with her fingers as if she were playing with a child. The scene was so absurd and unexpectedly cute that Luffy couldn't help but smile.

"Alright, enough fooling around," Luffy said, walking over to pull them apart. He helped Hancock to her feet and gestured for Yamato to stand as well. Then, without another word, he began pushing his wheelchair toward Stormbreaker.

"Hey, let me go! I haven't even visited the Marine base yet!" Yamato protested loudly as they made their way to the port.

Her incessant chatter caught Hancock's attention. She couldn't help but admire Yamato's boundless energy. For someone restrained with seastone handcuffs, she certainly didn't act like it. Hancock thought back to her own experiences with seastone. If she were wearing those cuffs, she wouldn't even be able to walk, let alone talk as much as Yamato.

Luffy's patience wore thin. "Alright, alright," he interrupted, rolling his eyes. "What's so exciting about some shabby base? I'll take you somewhere more interesting. Just stop yelling already."

As expected, Yamato's complaints ceased immediately. Her curiosity piqued, and she eagerly awaited whatever "more interesting" thing Luffy had in store.

But Luffy's relief was short-lived. Yamato's barrage of questions began anew, her voice brimming with excitement. "Where are we going? Are you taking me shopping? Oh, I've never been shopping properly before! This is so exciting!"

"Hey, stop getting carried away! When did I ever say I'd take you shopping?" Luffy snapped, exasperated. "Shut up and stay quiet. We'll be there soon. If you say one more word, I'll turn around and send you back to that dark little dungeon."

The threat worked like magic. Yamato immediately clamped her mouth shut, her hands covering her lips as she shook her head frantically. Her wide, pleading eyes fixed on Luffy, silently begging for mercy.

Luffy couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction. "You're something else," he muttered under his breath. This girl's so innocent, no wonder she got brainwashed by Oden's diary. Still, her naivety gives me room to work.

The journey continued in silence. After more than ten minutes of walking, the trio finally arrived at the port where Stormbreaker was docked.

As soon as Yamato caught sight of the massive metal ship, her eyes lit up with wonder. Her mouth opened as if to exclaim something, but she quickly remembered Luffy's earlier warning. Clamping her lips shut once more, she remained silent, though her sparkling eyes betrayed her excitement.

Stopping under Stormbreaker, Luffy gestured for Hancock to contact the crew and lower the gangway. Then, turning to Yamato, he introduced the ship with a touch of pride.

"This is my ship, the Stormbreaker. It'll also be your home for the foreseeable future," Luffy explained. "I'll allow you a certain degree of freedom on board. You can explore and visit different areas of the ship. However, there are two conditions: you can't cause trouble, and you must stop calling yourself Kozuki Oden."

Yamato's initial excitement turned to hesitation. She nodded eagerly at the first half of his statement, her impression of Luffy shifting from a deceitful Marine to a potential friend. But when he mentioned the second condition, her expression fell.

Her brows furrowed as an internal debate played out in her mind. The two conflicting voices of her inner "villains" argued fiercely, trying to sway her decision.

Luffy noticed her hesitation and pressed further. "I don't care why you call yourself Kozuki Oden," he said, his tone firm. "But I do know this: Oden was a pirate, and we're the Marines. If you insist on playing pirate on a Marine ship, I'll have no choice but to lock you up and send you back to that dungeon."

That last line hit Yamato hard. She didn't want to go back to the dark, oppressive dungeon, but she also didn't want to abandon her identity as Oden. Torn between her desires, she stood frozen, her face a portrait of distress.

"I am Kozuki Oden!" she finally shouted, stomping her foot. "I've sailed with Whitebeard and Roger! I've seen every kind of ship imaginable!"

Despite her tough words, her eyes darted back to Stormbreaker, her fascination clear. The ship's sleek, metallic frame gleamed under the sun, tempting her curiosity even further.
