Chapter 13: 《One Piece: Magma of Absolute》Chapter 13: Kaido Loses an Organ
The sword slash ripped through the sky.
By the time Sakazuki shook off the shock of that Conqueror's Haki blast, the incoming slash was already right on top of him.
He glanced down at the barely breathing Kaido beneath him, fully aware of the lethal threat barreling his way. In a split second, Sakazuki made his choice—his aura growing even more savage. He poured every last ounce of energy into the magma arm that still impaled Kaido.
In that instant, he was forced out of Red Lotus Mode, his body too drained to maintain it any longer.
Just as the slash reached him, the last of his energy surged into the magma. With a grunt, he severed that portion of magma, leaving it behind—deep inside Kaido's body.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
A chain of explosions erupted. Caught off guard, Sakazuki couldn't dodge—the flying sword energy slammed straight into his chest.
He layered Armament Haki thickly across his torso, bracing with both hands, blackened by Haki, as he pressed against the incoming slash.
The clash of sword energy and Armament Haki shredded the flesh from his chest in an instant. The force of the blow hurled him through tree after tree, smashing through the forest.
Finally, as he felt the sword energy growing more violent, he twisted his Haki-coated hands, forcing the slash away at the last second, sending it slicing off to the side.
It crashed into a distant hill—BOOM!—and a small mushroom cloud blossomed into the sky.
Sakazuki finally skidded to a stop, smashing through a massive boulder before collapsing to his knees, not far from the blast.
Blood dripped steadily to the ground. Still, after taking Charlotte Linlin's Ikkoku Sovereignty head-on, Sakazuki forced himself to his feet.
"Cough... cough... Big Mom, huh..." He spat blood, eyes narrowed as he stared at the figure lifting Kaido from the ground.
—
On the other side—
Charlotte Linlin was burning with rage. Ever since Kaido had joined the Rocks Pirates, she'd felt a strange sense of kinship—she'd always looked out for him, treating him like a little brother.
She'd even warned him outright: Rocks can't be trusted. If you run into trouble, come to me.
For this war, even Charlotte Linlin hadn't been sure how things would end. So, she'd made sure Kaido was stationed on a ship at the rear, fighting on the outskirts of God Valley.
If they won, Kaido could use the outer skirmishes to build his reputation. If they lost, he'd have a better chance of escaping. Linlin had thought of everything.
But she never expected to run into a wild card like Sakazuki, a man out of place and out of time.
One slip, and Kaido had nearly died.
Staring at the gaping, magma-burned wound and Kaido's barely clinging life, Charlotte Linlin wanted nothing more than to crush Sakazuki—but Kaido's injuries couldn't wait.
She scooped him up and sprinted toward Rocks' flagship.
She remembered: Rocks had recently gotten his hands on a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit...
Watching Charlotte Linlin carry Kaido away, Sakazuki understood—just like in the original history—Rocks' assault on God Valley had already been sabotaged by betrayal. His crew was splintering; some had fled, others had turned coat.
"Maser Cannon: Three Thousand Miles!"
Suddenly, as she ran, Charlotte Linlin gathered her power at the tip of Napoleon and swung forward.
A colossal female phantom materialized, charging straight at Sakazuki.
"Earth-Rising Spire!"
Sakazuki slammed both hands to the ground, channeling his Devil Fruit's power deep below. A miniature magma volcano erupted upward, smashing the phantom skyward. Magma spewed into the heavens, engulfing the phantom in a blazing inferno.
"What a pain in the ass..."
Through the surging magma, Sakazuki sensed that the phantom's strength barely waned.
Suddenly, thick smoke billowed from him. With a hiss, his body melted into a pool of magma and slipped underground, fleeing deeper beneath the earth.
Without Sakazuki's control, the magma barrier crumbled. The giant female phantom broke through with ease, but lacking true intelligence, it could only swing wildly, slashing at empty air. Eventually, it faded away.
—
Meanwhile, Charlotte Linlin, still hauling the battered Kaido, spotted Rocks' pirate ship on the outskirts of the battlefield. Relief and determination flashed in her eyes.
"Maser Sword!"
A massive laser beam erupted from her blade, cutting down everything in its path—friend or foe.
She blasted a straight path and crashed through the ship's hull.
"Out of my way!"
Charlotte Linlin roared, barreling toward the cabin. Suddenly, she felt a surge of energy at her side. She glanced down—her pupils shrank. No time!
Armament Haki surged from her hands, desperately covering Kaido's wound. But before she could fully seal it—
BOOM!
The magma Sakazuki had left inside Kaido detonated.
Endless magma erupted from within Kaido's body.
