Chapter 59: Chapter 59
Facing someone as nearly invincible as Caesar, even Yamato was utterly helpless.
Once again, she could only watch as Pudding timidly approached her and reached out her hands.
Despair and fear flickered in Yamato's eyes.
She had always been strong-willed and tough, living like a man.
But now, faced with the imminent loss of her memories and her very self, her unyielding spirit finally crumbled.
Her lips trembled as she began to sob uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face like rain.
Seeing Yamato in such agony, Pudding hesitated, her outstretched hands wavering.
Unable to help herself, she glanced at Caesar for guidance.
Caesar expression was as cold as stone as he uttered one icy word.
"Proceed."
Not daring to disobey, Pudding could only offer Yamato an apologetic look before continuing.
As her fingers touched Yamato cheeks once more, scenes from her memories began to blur and fade like a flickering film reel.
"No, please... I beg you, don't erase my memories... please..." Yamato wept and pleaded, lifting her head to beg Caesar.
Yet all she saw was his indifferent face.
A shiver ran through her heart—she was truly terrified of this uncle of hers.
Realizing that begging Caesar was futile, Yamato clenched her teeth and turned her desperate gaze toward Kaido instead.
Kaido couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy seeing his daughter in tears.
But during the time he had waited for Yamato, Caesar had spoken to him at length, convincing him that swift and decisive action was necessary.
Kaido had come to believe that letting his daughter continue living in such a dazed and tormented state was worse than giving her a fresh start—a new set of memories, free from pain.
Better a sharp pain now than prolonged suffering.
Erasing Yamato's memories seemed, at this moment, the best solution.
When Kaido also turned away, ignoring her pleas, Yamato panicked completely.
She could feel her memories—her very self—being pulled away, transformed into fleeting images before vanishing.
"No, no! Father! Please... spare me! I won't pretend to be Kozuki Oden anymore! Just don't take my memories away, please!" she begged again.
She was genuinely terrified of Pudding ability.
If a person's memories were erased, even if new ones were given, would they still be the same person?
That sense of alienation—of losing oneself—must be more horrifying than death itself.
Kaido had been resolute, determined not to yield no matter how Yamato pleaded.
But when she called him "Father," his massive frame shuddered.
His throat tightened and his eyes grew suspiciously moist.
How many years had it been? He couldn't even remember the last time Yamato had called him that.
Only in the first few years after her birth had Kaido known the joy of fatherhood—carrying the tiny, adorable Yamato on his shoulders as they wandered about.
Transforming into his dragon form, soaring through the skies with his giggling daughter, chasing clouds and reaching for the moon.
The memories flooded back and Kaido gritted his teeth, his nose stinging with the urge to weep.
He stared blankly at Yamato, still able to vaguely see the similarity of between her and her mother.
That was the last trace of emotion Kaido had ever felt in his life.
"Forget it, let her go Caesar" Kaido sighed and said to Caesar.
Pudding quickly stopped her actions and was about to withdraw her hand when Caesar icy voice came again.
"Continue."
Pudding froze, unsure of what to do.
Yamato's fear of Caesar grew even stronger.
Hearing his emotionless voice, she shuddered and cast a pleading look at Kaido.
Kaido gritted his teeth so hard they creaked, then suddenly roared.
"I SAID FORGET IT! LET HER GO!"
With a furious roared, Kaido swung his fist and struck Caesar square in the chest.
BOOM!
A terrifying force erupted, sending Caesar's massive body flying.
He crashed through the doors of the reception hall and tumbled into the long corridor beyond.
Hearing the commotion, servants rushed over from all directions.
But when they saw it was Caesar, their legs trembled and none dared to approach.
Caesar gave them a cold glance and the servants all collapsed like wooden stakes, thudding to the ground.
Yamato fell onto the carpet, finally freed from Caesar's grasp.
Gasping for breath, she wore relieved expression of someone who had narrowly escaped death.
Caesar stood up and strode back into the hall, his enormous frame casting a vast shadow over Yamato, who sat slumped on the floor.
Pudding nervously stepped aside.
Terrified of Caesar, Yamato shrank behind Kaido as he approached.
"Little brother, what did I just tell you? Didn't I say not to be soft-hearted? If you hesitate now, you'll regret it later."
"Enough, Caesar. Let her decide her own future. The Kozuki family is already history, Wano is under our control, and Yamato can't go back. From now on, let her choose her own path. I don't want to force her anymore."
Kaido voice was low, sounding somewhat aged.
"Father! Father!"
Suddenly, heavy hurried footsteps echoed as Katakuri's muscular figure rushed in, his face carrying a hint of killing intent.
Entering the hall, he glanced at the shattered doors but said nothing, heading straight to Caesar.
"Father, the scouts we sent out yesterday have gathered important intel. On Oven Island, a powerful pirate is wreaking havoc, plundering the island's wealth. Based on the scouts' descriptions, we've identified one individual."
As he spoke, Katakuri handed over a photograph.
Caesar took it and gave it a glance, then suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"Newgate? No, wait—the beard is identical, but this face looks so ugly compare to him. Katakuri, who is this?"
Kaido raised his head, his expression now composed and looked at the photo in Caesar's hand.
"That's a pirate who claims to be Whitebeard's son, Edward Weevil. He was previously recruited by the Marines as a Warlord, so his strength should be decent."
Katakuri added "Yes, it's indeed Edward Weevil. His current affiliation is under the newly crowned Emperor, Buggy the Clown."
"Four Emperors? Buggy? Never heard of him, is he another big shot? Borororo, the world sure is interesting these days. Haven't stretched my limbs for days—what perfect timing! Katakuri, take me to meet this fellow Emperor. Let's see what kind of person he really is!"
Caesar twisted his thick neck, making his bones crack, a bloodthirsty grin spreading across his face.
But the moment Caesar spoke those words, both Katakuri and Kaido immediately wore peculiar expressions.
