Chapter 22: Alpha Wolf!
Chapter 22: Alpha Wolf!
It has to be said that Ken was fully prepared for the attack of the other two wolves; he had already studied their speed, attack pattern, and when and how they move.
But an unknown variable has attacked him this time—a variable that holds power far stronger, speed far faster, and a mentality far smarter than the other two.
This was the Alpha Wolf, and if he said that he had been waiting for him to appear, he would be lying, but...
"When I said you've wasted your chance..." Ken started speaking as his body started twisting against common sense to evade the attack.
*FWSHHH* *BOOOM*
"...I meant all wolves." He finished his speech as the claws of the wolf failed to hit their target and went on to smash against a couple trees and rocks, rendering them to pieces and rubbles.
"My turn." Ken drew out his sword against the large back of the grey wolf.
While fighting, Ken's very pride spoke in his place. He was completely focused on the battle at hand, but his soul and mind couldn't remain silent as they outwardly expressed what he thought.
So it wasn't that he was a talkative bastard.
*Fwsh* *Fwsh* *Fwsh*
"AWOOOOO!" The wolf roared to the sky as its back was wounded by the sword slashes Ken had delivered.
It's true that the sword was sharp, but Ken knew that he wouldn't have been able to kill the first wolf in one technique if it hadn't been in the perfect place.
Now, he barely dealt a fatal wound to the alpha wolf as it made some distance between him and looked at the other wolves, who were not just two at the moment.
"Well..." Ken looked around at the pack of wolves surrounding him and couldn't help but sweat a little.
More wolves arrived as he was fighting the alpha, and as short a moment that was, the wolves were experienced in stealth, not making a single sound while chasing a prey.
Ken had to say that he really lacked experience. He needed to put more focus not just on the battle but elsewhere too. It wasn't knowledge he didn't know, but he never had proper fighting instinct drilled into him, just what he had learned from hardships.
15 wolves circling him wasn't a joke. And though he was confident in his survival, he wasn't sure he would be in good shape after, as his stamina would barely be able to handle all of this.
The wolves started walking toward him with renewed confidence, as with their number now the young man wouldn't have as much of an advantage.
But Ken wasn't going down easily.
"AWOOOOOOOOOO!"
"AWOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
The wolf king howled, and the other wolves followed.
"I need to regain advantage." Ken thought to himself.
No matter what, being surrounded like this wouldn't yield a good result.
And so he thought of leaving this place. To do so, he had to look for an opening, but the wolves were smart... At least their leader was, as he could commend them well with a single look.
They didn't leave him a single opening.
But who was Ken? What had he been doing since the start? If he could damage the alpha wolf so badly, what were these little wolves even going to do to him?
"Haah." He sighed and looked down at his legs. Giving them a little tap, he prepared himself and focused.
He felt his every muscle, his every bone, and every fiber of his being was connected before he opened his eyes.
An illusory line and a vision of the future almost materialized to reality, symbolizing his brain working overtime to perfect his escape plan.
"Let's do this." And with a burst of confidence, he launched himself forward. Almost at the same time as the wolves.
*Thud* *FWSHH*
"AWOOO!" 3 of the wolves who were directly in front of him became wary. While the others were coming from the side, they were the closest, as their opponent was rushing towards them at the same time as they were advancing towards him.
If Ken were to directly attack one of them, the others would take advantage of the moment he slows down and throw themselves at him.
He wouldn't even have a chance to escape before the alpha wolf who was speeding down here reaches him, and it will be a battle to the death.
But Ken came prepared, and his plan was simple: if there was no opening, then he would make it himself.
He still had one of those poisoned needles he killed the first wolf with, and after a quick scan around, he brought one out without the wolves noticing and threw it.
Not at the wolves in front of him, but an unsuspecting wolf to his right.
Ken had perfect control over his body, and the second the wolf fell down from the poison, he changed direction, went to that side, and jumped up, then ran at full speed.
