Chapter 15: Ambushed!
Chapter 15: Ambushed!
Looking at the woman who was warning him, Ken stopped, looked in front of him and then back at her.
She wasn't looking at him. A single glance and he knew that she couldn't give half a fuck if the world burned in front of her.
He knew this type; he was familiar with it.
"Very well." Having grown up in hell, he knew who to trust and who not to trust.
"But I have a question." He returned to look in front of him.
The woman who had just finished blowing the smoke and looking at the sky slowly threw her gaze at him.
"What is it?" She said boredly.
"Is there anything worth going there for?" he asked.
"That's not a good question, young man. What are you looking for?"
"I need information," he said.
"Much better," she replied.
"If you're strong enough, then I guess you could say that. At the end of the way, you will find a wooden house up a hill of rocks. A bastard that lives there seems to get information from the sky." She pointed with her cigarette and said.
"As much as I hate to say this, he's the best in this shithole." She brought back her cigarette and took another puff before she looked at Ken.
"But as I said, if you're not confident of your own strength, go back to the main street; the assholes over there can do their jobs." She said.
"I see." Ken nodded.
Taking out a gold coin from his purse, he approached her and then handed it to her.
"This is my thanks." He said before he started walking towards the wooden house.
The woman looked at the coin with slight shock before she scanned the area around her, only sighing when she noticed that no one saw her.
"Thankfully he's not dumb." She followed him with her eyes while hiding the coin in her chest.
Had he been one of those goody two shoes and thrown it at her, she might have gotten in some serious trouble.
"Don't die too soon, young man." She spoke to herself as she went right back to smoking.
-------
Ken walked through the rubble and trash, not bothered one bit by the scene he was seeing.
Poorly clothed young men, women, and old bones looked at him with different expressions, but he didn't so much as give them a glance.
He walked and walked, intent on reaching the wooden house to get the information he needed so he could go back to get some much-needed rest in an inn.
But luck wasn't on his side.
"Fuck me! Am I seeing right?" From the sides, Ken looked as two groups of armed men approached him.
It didn't take long for another two groups to come, one from the front and another from the back.
"What are you doing here, young man? Didn't your mother tell you to not walk in dangerous places? Hahaha!" The same man who talked first said.
"Well, lucky us, we got fresh prey to hunt." Another man who had his hands around the first man's shoulder spoke with a smile full of crooked teeth.
"Let's make this easy. You give us your belongings, and we'll let you go free." Another guy from the other side said.
"I have but one question." Knowing that he'll have to fight, Ken spoke.
"Huh?" Seeing how he wasn't frightened by the sight, the men started having second thoughts?
"What's a bunch of lowlives like you doing in a place like this?" He asked.
"..." The men didn't reply.
"Hahaha, We wanted to be kind, but you bastard sure want to make things hard for the both of us." One guy said.
"Change of plans, you ain't leaving here." He immediately said after.
"I shouldn't have expected you to give me the answer." Ken didn't bring out his katana, nor was he planning to.
A fight against this bunch of hoodlums needed fists and a good beating.
"GET Him!" The man shouted at the top of his lunges and the first top launch himself at ken was one man from the group behind.
Ken turned his head at an astonishing speed to look behind him and in one swift motion he kicked the man back to where he came from, but he didn't stop there.
*Fwshh* *Thump*
Seeing the man fall, he followed behind him.
"Don't let him escape!" Thinking that he wanted to escape from that place, the 'leader' shouted at his men to stop him.
The remaining three men who were behind Ken at first made a line so as to stop him, with the one in the middle running at full speed with a sharp scimitar in hand.
*Thud*
"Huh?" Before the duo who were left behind could even understand, they saw their brother flying at them.
*Smack*
All 4 were on the ground in nothing but a short few seconds, making those who were just rushing towards Ken stop for a second.
"What's up? Not coming anymore." A smile was etched on Ken's face as he said.
