One Piece: I, the Strongest Intern of the Roger Pirates

Chapter 31: Chapter 31 – A Small Profit

Just as Fang Yi spotted Silver Axe and was about to regroup with the main force, he noticed something in a nearby corner.

"This is… a marker left by Shanks?"

After carefully inspecting it, Fang Yi immediately recognized it as a coded symbol — a signal set up by their three-man team.

Following the trail of signs, Fang Yi reached a cave nestled in the mountain. Inside, he found Shanks — and a large group of Celestial Dragons wearing their signature bubble collars — hiding there.

"You little bastard… do you even know who we are?! How dare you block our path?! Do you believe I can't call the Marines to have you drawn and quartered?!"

Fang Yi had just stepped into the cave when he heard one of the Celestial Dragons yelling furiously at Shanks.

"I don't know who you are, and I don't care. But you'd better recognize what this is!"

"Big Bro Fang!"

Shanks' eyes lit up the moment he saw Fang Yi enter, long sword in hand and bow slung over his back.

Even though they had been hiding here and didn't know what was happening outside, Shanks understood that once their position was discovered, things would spiral out of control, especially since this group of Celestial Dragons was not the easiest to deal with. That's why he hadn't dared venture out.

"Ugh, another damn brat showed up!"

Seeing that Fang Yi was also just a kid, the Celestial Dragons, who had just sighed in relief, now resumed their arrogant yelling.

But Fang Yi had no intention of indulging them. He stepped forward, placed his sword directly against the neck of the one who'd been shouting, and said to Shanks:

"What's there to talk about with trash like this? If they don't behave, just cut them down. There are plenty of them here — no one's gonna miss one or two. We'll just blame it on the Rocks Pirates and say we ran into enemies during the escape."

His words immediately shut the Celestial Dragons up.

Now that things had calmed down, Fang Yi and Shanks took the chance to exchange intel.

"I see! You made the right call," Fang Yi nodded approvingly after hearing Shanks' explanation.

"If the Celestial Dragons had fallen into the hands of the Rocks Pirates, Captain and that bastard Garp would be in a terrible position."

As it turned out, after rescuing the Celestial Dragons, Shanks hadn't dared move through the city, so he had tried to sneak them out through the back mountain. That was when they unexpectedly ran into Silver Axe.

Luckily, they discovered this natural cave and decided to hide here, since they had no idea what was going on outside.

Originally, Shanks had wanted to scout the area himself, but the Celestial Dragons insisted on tagging along. If not for a few of them being somewhat rational, Shanks wouldn't have been able to convince them to stay put.

"So what now? Should we head out?"

Shanks asked eagerly upon hearing that the battle outside had tipped in their favor.

He was honestly getting sick of dealing with these nobles. If he could, he would've ditched them a long time ago.

"Not yet!"

Fang Yi shook his head.

"When I came here, I saw Silver Axe right at the main palace entrance. He probably doesn't know the Celestial Dragons have been rescued. He's likely assuming the Rocks Pirates still have them and is just sitting there enjoying the show. If we go out now, we'll expose everything."

"Then what should we do?" Shanks frowned.

"You stay here and keep an eye on them. Don't be too soft. They're your prisoners of war. If you're too polite, they'll walk all over you! We're pirates, not Marines or World Government dogs. Don't fear their revenge — if you show them who's boss, they'll fall in line."

Fang Yi grinned as he spoke.

Shanks now understood and nodded as he watched Fang Yi leave.

After exiting the cave and avoiding the Celestial Dragons' palace, Fang Yi tried to find Rayleigh and the others. But apart from Roger's area, the rest of the battlefield had gone quiet, so he couldn't locate them easily. Gritting his teeth, he decided to sneak toward the battlefield's central point.

"Can't get any closer…"

Fang Yi spotted the three powerhouses locked in a fierce battle. Hiding behind a massive boulder, he took out his bow and aimed directly at the Rocks.

"Power Shot… activate!"

He released the arrow while silently praying it would trigger a skill.

Whoosh—!

The arrow flew at incredible speed, straight toward Rocks.

At the same time, Rayleigh and the others — still searching for Fang Yi — noticed the arrow.

Naturally, the three battling legends noticed too.

Though they didn't know who the attacker was, Garp instinctively paused his assault.

Roger, like Garp, didn't take the opportunity to strike. He had already recognized who had fired the arrow.

Rocks' face turned stormy — the arrow was aimed at him.

"Incoming!"

As if anticipating Roger and Garp's reactions, Fang Yi jumped out and shouted at Rocks.

This turned it into a direct, open attack rather than a sneaky ambush.

"Tch, just a damn kid!"

Rocks casually slapped the arrow away.

Unfortunately, the shot didn't trigger any skills.

"Fang Yi, what are you doing here?! It's dangerous — get out of here!"

Roger moved slightly to position himself between Fang Yi and Rocks.

"Wahahaha! Roger, this kid's from your crew? He's got guts!"

Garp laughed, clearly impressed by Fang Yi's bold move and his shout of "incoming!"

"Captain! I came to tell you—Charlotte Linlin looted the Celestial Dragons' palace and escaped with a ton of treasure. She even released the Celestial Dragons! But don't worry — Mr. Rayleigh and the others found them and moved them to safety!"

Fang Yi shouted as loudly as he could.

His words immediately changed the mood.

Roger and Garp looked pleased, while Rock's expression grew even darker.

Just then, Rayleigh — the fastest of the group — arrived at Fang Yi's side. He smacked him on the head and whispered:

"Idiot! Don't say stuff like that out loud!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Rayleigh. Shanks is watching over the Celestial Dragons right now," Fang Yi replied quietly.

"Really?"

Rayleigh blinked in surprise, then grinned.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course! Why would I lie to you? If I could've found you sooner, I wouldn't have risked coming here — this place is crazy dangerous! I'll take you to Shanks right after this!"

Fang Yi said proudly.

"You little punk… BAM—! You knew it was dangerous?!"

Yamon had also arrived and gave Fang Yi a hard knock on the head, making him tear up from the pain.

As Yamon scolded Fang Yi, Rayleigh gave Roger a discreet look, silently confirming that what Fang Yi said was true.

Even though it was only Fang Yi's word, Rayleigh chose to believe him.

Now unburdened by worry, Roger and Garp unleashed their full power against Rocks.

Rocks, now desperate to confirm the truth, dropped all restraint as well.

The fierce clash that followed shook the entire God Valley — it felt like the island could crumble at any moment.

"This is insane… Are these even humans?"

Fang Yi felt like he was witnessing the apocalypse just from the shockwaves of their battle.

"You little brat, hurry up and take me to Shanks! If anything happens to the Celestial Dragons, it'll be real trouble!"

Rayleigh gave Fang Yi another light bop on the head.

"They're hiding in a cave behind the Celestial Dragons' palace. We'd better go quickly — if Captain and the others collapse the mountain, it'll be a disaster!"

Fang Yi ducked his head and pointed toward the back of the mountain.

"Let's go. We'll hand the Celestial Dragons over to the Marines first. Jaba, take the others back to the ship and bring those captured pirates too. It's too dangerous to stay here any longer."

Rayleigh gave the order.

"Got it!"

Jaba immediately led the group toward the port, including Fang Yi, who was dragged along.

Fang Yi was reluctant. He had just earned three lottery spins, and he knew there were still more opportunities left.

But neither Rayleigh nor Jaba gave him a chance to argue. They hauled him straight back to the ship.

As they passed the port, Fang Yi spotted Zephyr standing guard across from Whitebeard (Edward Newgate) and Golden Lion Shiki.

His eyes lit up with mischief, and he shouted at the Marine:

"Hey, Vice Admiral Zephyr! Don't worry — the Rocks Pirates' officers have all been defeated! Charlotte Linlin even attacked their captain and fled after being beaten!"

His sudden outburst stunned all three of them — Zephyr, Newgate, and Shiki.

Zephyr looked to Jaba, clearly seeking confirmation.

Fang Yi, being just an intern, didn't exactly inspire confidence.

Jaba shot Fang Yi a glare, then nodded at Zephyr.

"He's telling the truth. For some reason, Linlin attacked Rocks, but he beat her down quickly. I didn't see her after that, but this kid claims she took the Celestial Dragons' treasure and fled."

Newgate and Shiki exchanged glances. Now that things had reached this point, they needed to start thinking about their futures.

"Also, these pirates were just used by Rocks. Vice Admiral Garp said we could let them go. If you don't believe me, ask the other Marines!"

Fang Yi chimed in again, gesturing at the pirate alliance and the injured Marines nearby. He even patted Zephyr's arm like they were best buddies.

Zephyr looked at the injured Marines. Since none of them objected, he waved his hand, signaling for the pirates to leave.

Jaba grabbed the smugly grinning Fang Yi and tossed him to Peterm to keep him from causing any more trouble.

Although Fang Yi hadn't logged Shiki or Whitebeard yet, he had now successfully logged Zephyr, so he was satisfied for now.

He returned to the ship with the others.

"You're finally back! Is the battle over?"

To everyone's surprise, when they returned, they found Buggy already on board.

"Buggy? Why are you here? Weren't you supposed to scout the Rocks Pirates' officers?"

Fang Yi asked in disbelief.

"Hehe… you won't believe it. I ran into Newgate and Zephyr fighting right when I got there. Then Shiki showed up too. I got blocked off, so I just came back to the ship. Figured if anyone tried to mess with it, I could stop them!"

Buggy replied with a weird grin.

Of course, no one believed him.

But as an intern, no one had expected much from Buggy anyway, so no one made a big deal out of it, though Fang Yi did feel something wasn't quite right.
