One Piece: I Recruited Big Mom

Chapter 14: Competition, Linlin Takes Action!

"Hahahaha... Since you saved Hajrudin, you are a friend of our giants."

Chief Jorul smiled kindly on his old face.

"That's right."

Chief Jarul next to him nodded.

"Two chiefs, I came here to ask for a favor." Reno suddenly changed the subject.

"Just tell me what you want. You are a friend of the giants. As long as we can help, we will never refuse." The generous Jorul waved his hand and said.

"We hope to learn the giants' fighting skill—Hakoku!"

As soon as the words came out, the smiles on the faces of the two chiefs suddenly stopped, their raised arms lowered, and their expressions turned a bit unnatural.

"Learn Hakoku?"

Jorul and Jarul looked at each other, seeming a little embarrassed.

Hakoku is a unique combat technique of the giants. It is their powerful method for fighting enemies and has never been passed on to outsiders.

But Reno and Linlin were Hajrudin's saviors, so the two chiefs couldn't make a decision right away.

"Chief, just agree to them. If it weren't for them, you wouldn't see me now." Hajrudin, who was only 17 or 18 years old, rolled his eyes and started to act spoiled in front of the two chiefs.

"Okay."

Chief Jorul couldn't resist him and looked at Hajrudin lovingly.

But he was right. Reno and Linlin had done a great favor to the giants, and so he should repay them.

"Okay, I agree, but..." Jorul looked at Reno, then at Linlin, and continued:

"Although you are Hajrudin's savior, this matter still has to follow the rules of the giants."

"We giants have always valued strength. If you win a contest with us, I will have someone teach you Hakoku. But if you lose..."

"If we lose, we will never mention this again."

Reno took the initiative to finish the sentence for Jorul.

But he believed they would not lose.

"Okay!"

The two chiefs looked at the confident Reno a few more times.

"Who will compete between the two of you?"

"Linlin, come!" Linlin took the initiative to step forward.

"Hajrudin, gather everyone here."

"Okay."

Hajrudin shouted loudly, calling all the giant warriors in the village.

After briefly explaining what happened, the giant warriors all looked at Linlin at the same time.

"Compete with our giants? Kid, are you serious?"

"Do you know how powerful our giants are?"

"We are grateful you saved Hajrudin, but if you compete with us, I'm afraid you'll get hurt."

"Chief, I don't think this is necessary?"

The giant warriors murmured amongst themselves, and none of them had any confidence in Linlin.

"Enough!"

Jorul snorted coldly and stopped the noise.

The respected Jorul had spoken, and all the giant warriors fell silent.

"Chief, if we really must compete, let me do it. I know my limits."

A relatively weaker giant warrior stepped up and volunteered.

His strength was only average among the giants, but in his opinion, it would be easy to deal with Linlin.

Jorul looked at the giant warriors, then at Linlin, and remembered the scene that Hajrudin described of Linlin fighting the Silver Wolf Pirates, and then he shook his head.

He looked at another giant warrior in the crowd.

"Hulk, you come."

Hulk in the crowd nodded to Jorul, and without saying a word, walked directly toward Linlin.

The first giant frowned when he saw that the chief had chosen Hulk to compete.

Hulk's strength was one of the best among the younger generation of giant warriors. He had once taken down several powerful pirate crews on his own.

Was it really necessary to have someone like him face a little girl?

But this was the chieftain's decision, so he couldn't say much and returned to the crowd.

"To prevent you from getting hurt, we'll compete in a contest of strength—a tug-of-war."

"The two of us will each hold one end of the rope, with a red line in the middle. Whoever is pulled past the red line loses."

Hulk briefly explained the rules of the competition.

The rules were very simple.

Linlin immediately understood and nodded in agreement: "Okay, okay, Linlin loves playing games the most."

Hulk didn't think he could lose.

As a giant warrior, his physical power was far superior to other races, and even among giants, he was one of the best.

Although Linlin was massive, she wasn't a giant, and she was still just a child.

"Hulk, don't be careless!"

Jorul reminded Hulk when he noticed that Hulk was underestimating his opponent.

"Don't worry, Chief. Even a lion uses full strength when hunting a rabbit. I won't lose."

Hulk assured confidently.

Jorul gave Reno a long look. Reno had worn a faint smile the whole time.

For some reason, he felt that something wasn't right.

Reno didn't feel like a twelve-year-old boy.

Aside from his appearance, he had no trace of childishness—his mind was like an adult's.

"I hope I'm just overthinking it."

Jorul shook his head to himself.

The venue and props for the competition were soon prepared.

It was very simple: a red line, a rope, Hulk and Linlin standing on either side, each holding one end of the rope.

Hulk wrapped the rope around his hands several times and gripped it tightly with both hands.

The giant warriors, who hadn't seen this kind of contest in a while, became excited and cheered for Hulk. They already imagined Linlin being instantly overwhelmed by Hulk.
