One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Insane Mobility

"Based on the issues you raised before your last departure regarding the flaws in the 'Lightforged Beacon Crystal,' we've conducted extensive tests and improvements. The latest model has resolved both the transmission range and energy consumption problems, making it viable as a standard tool."

Judge's voice was brimming with excitement. As a scientist, this was an achievement worth immense pride.

"The new Lightforged Beacon Crystal can now facilitate teleportation across the Calm Belt, allowing travel between the Grand Line and the North Blue! And each teleportation only consumes the energy equivalent of a single standard unit of Holy Light."

A "standard unit" referred to the amount of Holy Light energy stored in a typical Lightforged Crystal used for life support.

"Fantastic! This is incredible!"

Wright was overjoyed. With such long-distance teleportation capabilities, his mobility had reached an absurd level—his ability to teleport instantly made him far faster than Borsalino, who was famed for moving at the "speed of light" when traveling to fixed locations.

Judge continued explaining, "We've also further reduced the size of the Lightforged Beacon Crystal. Its dimensions now depend entirely on the size of the Lightforged Crystal used as its core."

"For instance, a large fixed-location beacon could even accommodate an oversized Lightforged Crystal buried underground, ensuring it stays hidden—after all, Lightforged Crystals are quite conspicuous."

"Additionally, we've developed a 'numbering' system for the Lightforged Beacons, akin to Den Den Mushi communication lines. By synchronizing frequencies with a specific beacon, targeted teleportation is possible!"

"Impressive foresight…" Wright couldn't help but praise. "What about the difficulty of production?"

"It's quite simple. Just modify a few key parameters, and I'll provide you with the necessary data, my Lord. You can make the beacons yourself and even choose to conceal the identification codes of your beacons while establishing connections with us."

If Wright, as a Marine officer, could freely teleport into Marine Headquarters, it would undoubtedly cause a huge stir.

"Don't worry about that. Any beacon I create is entirely under my control. Even if encoded, no one can teleport here without my permission."

Nodding, Wright said, "Give me the frequency data for your beacon. Let me test if I can sense it directly."

"As you wish, my Lord!" Judge recalled that Wright could teleport to a beacon without physically interacting with it.

"Hm…" Receiving the frequency data, Wright closed his eyes and focused. "I can sense it, but it's faint. It seems I'll need more practice. Share the modification data with me; I'll craft my own beacons later."

...

After updating Wright on the latest research progress—including advancements in combat suits and medical technology, which would take years to fully develop—Judge ended the communication.

Exiting the soundproof barrier, Wright signaled for Smoker and Rosinante to stand down from their guard positions.

"I recently stumbled upon a research group and asked for their help with a few projects," Wright explained while reviewing his notes. "There are things I can't share with you yet… but the results will undoubtedly benefit the Marines."

"I couldn't involve the Marine Science Unit in this—it relates to my abilities and some unorthodox methods I had to employ. I need to prove these ideas work before I can bring them to Sengoku."

"And this invention… is the first step in that proof."

Rosinante smiled. "No need to worry about us, Wright. Everyone has their secrets. You're still you, and that's all that matters."

Smoker nodded seriously. "Our ranks don't warrant knowing everything. Until we're stronger and higher up, it's better not to know too much. You're right to keep things to yourself."

"Thank you for your trust…" Wright sighed. "I'll always be me, and my goal will never change…"

"World peace, got it!"

Rosinante and Smoker chimed in unison, laughing heartily.

"..."

Wright groaned. "Alright, alright. Can we focus? You're a commodore and a captain—act like it."

"Help me gather some materials; I need to run an experiment. Also, I should set up a lab in my office for these projects…"

The next day, Wright brought Rosinante and Smoker to Fleet Admiral Sengoku's office.

"Hm? What brings you three here?" Sengoku asked curiously. "Wright, have you picked your office yet?"

"Yes… next to Garp's." Wright chuckled as Sengoku's expression turned complicated. He glanced at a sheepish Rosinante and added, "Rosi helped me choose it. I'm quite satisfied."

"Ahem… Good, good." Sengoku coughed, silently approving his adoptive son's choice. At least that long-vacant room was finally being used.

"What's in that box?" Sengoku asked, noticing the large crate Smoker was carrying. "Wright, have you come up with another gadget?"

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, this is more than just a 'gadget.'"

Wright motioned for Smoker to open the box. "This is a revolutionary invention!"

"Revolutionary?" Sengoku's interest piqued. The Lightforged Crystals Wright had previously introduced were groundbreaking—what could this new invention be?

Wright swiftly assembled a device using some metallic components and a massive half-meter-tall Lightforged Crystal. Before long, a peculiar contraption stood before Sengoku.

It featured a metal base, a central Lightforged Crystal, and a rudimentary control panel that resembled a Den Den Mushi's dial pad.

"What is this?" Sengoku asked, glancing between the control panel and the Den Den Mushi on his desk.

"Behold—the revolutionary Lightforged Beacon!"

Wright, like a salesman, enthusiastically introduced the device.

"Powered by my Holy Light, the beacon enables instantaneous travel to predetermined locations!"

"Instantaneous travel…" Sengoku's eyes narrowed as a shocking idea took root. "No way…"

"Allow me to demonstrate."

Wright stepped out of the office, shutting the door behind him.

"Ready? Here we go!"

Golden light enveloped the device. Moments later, Wright reappeared beside the beacon.

"Even after seeing it multiple times, it's still unbelievable," Rosinante muttered, puffing on a cigarette. Smoker nodded in agreement. "It's hard to imagine such a development."

"W-Wright?!"

Sengoku bolted upright, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. "How is this possible?!"

"So, does this qualify as 'revolutionary'?" Wright chuckled, stepping closer to prove he was no illusion.

"Imagine me as a courier—no one would dare give me a bad review!"
