Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Birth of the Supreme Sword
"Ace, why do I feel like the power of this flame is far stronger than your Mera-Mera Fruit or even your Golden Crow?" Vista said, astonished.
Ace nodded. "This is the supreme sword created by two legendary forging masters. Master Hitetsu infused the phoenix essence with his own spirit and Haki, strengthening its power. Then, Senior Shimotsuki Kozaburo tempered and refined it with his Armament Haki, enhancing the blade's quality and controlling the essence's wild energy."
"This blade holds the lifetime of skills, dedication, and willpower of these two masters. It's bound to be extraordinary."
Chiba looked up at the magnificent sword with satisfaction. He was deeply impressed by the work of these two master forgers; the sword's power and elegance even surpassed the blades he had previously forged.
Rebecca, clutching the blade, watched as her own blood formed intricate runes along its length, merging with the phoenix essence to create a mark upon the sword's hilt. She could sense the presence of Hitetsu and Shimotsuki's spirits helping her control the essence's fierce energy, solidifying her bond with the weapon.
The phoenix essence, now marked with Rebecca's spiritual imprint, finally settled, yielding to her command. The flames in the sky condensed back into the blade as Rebecca descended, eyes gleaming with joy. As she landed, she wavered, nearly collapsing, but Shimotsuki Kozaburo quickly supported her.
"Are you alright, little one?" he asked gently.
Rebecca smiled, "Yes, it's done. The mark is complete. I can wield the sword as its master now."
Kozaburo smiled, taking a long drag from his pipe. "Good job, Rebecca. I was worried that the fire phoenix essence might be too fierce for you to tame."
Hitetsu interjected, "With the spiritual energy of us both, the fire phoenix essence was bound to submit to her. If she couldn't manage that, she'd never have been worthy of wielding the Fifth Generation Oni Toru."
"Oni Toru? Who said it would be named that?" Kozaburo scoffed. "If anything, it should be named something more fitting for Rebecca's spirit, like 'Luzizao.'"
The two forgers glared at each other, both refusing to let the other claim credit for the sword's name. Shimotsuki feared that calling it Oni Toru would allow people to believe Hitetsu was the sole creator, even though both of them had invested their life's skill into forging it.
"Bah! As if you had anything to do with its real strength," Hitetsu retorted. "Without my help, this sword wouldn't have the power it does now. 'Oni Toru' suits it perfectly."
"Nonsense," Kozaburo fired back. "Without my forging, the blade wouldn't be able to handle the fire phoenix essence, let alone channel it. I'm the true creator of this sword!"
Vista and Cavendish, amused by the argument, joined in, each taking a side. Vista argued for calling it Oni Toru, while Cavendish defended Shimotsuki's suggestion. Even Bartolomeo joined the fray, flicking his boogers at Cavendish, who barely managed to dodge them.
"Enough!" Shimotsuki finally growled. He and Hitetsu turned to Rebecca. "You're its master. What name do you choose?"
Rebecca looked unsure. "I… I don't know. The materials came from Captain Chiba, maybe he should name it."
The masters looked around, but Chiba had disappeared. Hina stepped forward, offering a suggestion. "How about calling it the 'Sword of Four Souls—Phoenix?' The four souls would be Rebecca, Master Hitetsu, Master Kozaburo, and the spirit of the fire phoenix itself."
Kozaburo, tapping his pipe, shrugged. "As long as it's not Oni Toru, I'm fine with it."
Hitetsu, frowning, finally agreed. "Fine. The Sword of Four Souls it is."
