One Piece: Chopping Ace Back to Foosha Village at the Start

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Consuming the Rumble-Rumble Fruit

If Wayne had continued fighting Enel alone, it was hard to say who would have won in the end. Wayne likely could've pulled off a victory but Enel just as likely would've managed to escape.

But then that unexpected kid had burst in and landed a devastating blow. It was a surprise attack with immense power, easily on par with one of Wayne's full-strength Armament-coated strikes, and it hit Enel squarely in a vital spot.

Enel had already been gravely wounded from Wayne's earlier attack. That final strike pushed him past the brink.

And with that, the outcome was decided.

Wayne stepped up to Enel's fallen form and said calmly, "Of all the things you could've done, you just had to go and play god. You turned the whole world against you and now look at you. Game over."

In this moment, Wayne truly understood the meaning of "Those who walk in righteousness are aided by the heavens, while the wicked stand alone."

"Any last words? Speak up if you've got something to say."

Wayne had his Observation Haki fully activated. In his hand, Shusui shimmered with Armament Haki, ready to strike at the slightest hint of resistance.

Enel opened his mouth, but only blood came out. He couldn't speak. He raised a trembling finger and pointed toward the unconscious Wiper slumped in the corner.

Wayne caught the look in his eyes pure hatred and instantly understood.

"Oh, I see. But no, that won't be happening. That kid helped me out quite a bit," Wayne said coldly.

Without hesitation, he swung his Haki-coated blade and cleaved Enel's head clean off.

The former wielder of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Enel was dead.

In the instant before the final strike, Wayne's Observation Haki had sensed the truth. Enel hadn't been delivering last words he'd been secretly using his "lightning therapy" to restore his organs. Give him another few seconds, and he might've been battle-ready again.

That was why Wayne acted without delay and executed him on the spot.

He then pulled out a strange-looking fruit an item he had drawn from the system.

[Devil Fruit Receiver]

Shaped like a dragon fruit. When a Devil Fruit user dies, the receiver can be used to absorb their fruit's ability and eliminate its side effects.

"How does this thing work?"

Wayne studied it. No instructions. Just vibes.

So he set the receiver down beside Enel's corpse.

A moment later, the fruit began to change its color shifted to a deep electric blue, and lightning-shaped patterns appeared on its surface.

It was done.

Wayne's heart skipped a beat. He immediately pulled up its attributes.

[Rumble-Rumble Fruit]

One of the most powerful Logia-type fruits. Side effects have been removed.

Wayne didn't hesitate. He bit into it skin, seeds, and all.

He closed his eyes while chewing. Everyone knew Devil Fruits were the most disgusting things in the world of pirates.

He made sure to eat every last bite. In his previous life, he'd seen theorists debate whether eating only part of a fruit affected the user's powers. While unconfirmed, Wayne wasn't about to take any chances.

He wolfed it down in one go.

Huh?

That was… surprisingly fine.

Wayne blinked, confused. "Wait a second… It just tastes like a regular fruit."

He thought back to the item description: 'Side effects removed'...

No way did that mean the "side effect" it removed was the taste?

"If that's the case… does that mean I'm still vulnerable to seawater and Seastone?"

Wayne's mood dropped. That was one glaring weakness he hadn't wanted.

Unfortunately, there was no ocean water around to test it. He set the thought aside and focused on his body.

"In theory, I should already have the power now…"

The moment he spoke, a surge of heat spread through his abdomen. Wayne instantly understood.

From this moment forward, he was a lightning man a Rumble-Rumble Fruit user.

He raised his right hand. A spark of electricity crackled at his fingertip. His body began to elementalize and it worked.

Success.

Wayne examined his new form, satisfaction glowing in his eyes. He could feel it not only had his abilities increased, but his physical constitution had also taken a leap forward.

He decided to test something else.

"Fifteen Million Volts: Thunderbird!"

A massive bird made of pure lightning spread its wings in the air and shot off into the distance.

That was Wayne's current output limit. Thanks to his monstrous body and rapid learning, he could already control high-voltage attacks. But it would still take time to reach the level of Enel's 200 million volts.

Then his eyes turned crimson as he activated Observation Haki. In an instant, the entire Sky Island was under his perception.

"So the Rumble-Rumble Fruit also enhances Observation Haki? Must be tied to the nature of electromagnetic waves."

He could feel it his Haki coverage had doubled. Where he once could sense a single island, now he could reach two with ease.

"That feeling… it's been a while getting stronger like this."

Wayne wasn't just more powerful his defense and speed had undergone a qualitative transformation.

"No wonder so many Logia users don't bother with physical training."

He finally understood the allure. This near-invulnerable feeling was addicting. All his years of body training had still left him susceptible to bullets and blades but now, he was truly untouchable.

Wayne gathered his thoughts and made his way out of the temple.

. . .

"Boss!"

Robin and the others lit up when they saw Wayne emerge. Though they had faith in his strength, a Rumble-Rumble Fruit user was no joke and they knew the so-called "god" wasn't a lightweight.

The intense electrical energy radiating from the temple had kept them outside. They could only wait and hope.

Thankfully, it was Wayne who came out.

Wayne scanned the area. The four Sky Priest generals had all been captured. He trusted his crew's strength, but one of them Kuro looked a bit worse for wear.

Upon asking, he learned that Kuro had fought one of the priests in single combat and actually won. That was real progress. Wayne estimated that Kuro would soon master all six techniques of Rokushiki.

Wayne nodded thoughtfully, then said, "Right there's a kid still alive inside the temple. Get him out and treat his injuries. He helped me a lot in there."

"Yes, Boss!"

His crew immediately moved to follow the order.

A flicker of lightning danced in Wayne's eyes. Robin, perceptive as always, noticed but said nothing.

The rest of the crew looked at Wayne with awe. There was something different about him now. An invisible pressure surrounded him a silent, electrifying authority.

"Boss looks... pretty damn alluring like this," Robin murmured to herself with a faint smile.
